Since empowerment is a very vital act of mentorship that fosters self-identity and ameliorates an individuals quality of life, ignorance is bliss only when the knowledge of God is not involved. Its through our relationship with God that we come to find our purpose, gain confidence, become courageous and suppress our fears in life as we progress towards our destiny. As we seek to find our God mandated purpose in our lives, its very imperative to know that life comes in phases where victory of your present stage invigorates your progress in the next stage. Nevertheless, our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. Its our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. Most of the times we ask ourselves; who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and successful? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your constrained thinking does not serve or impact the world. Your life is not a mistake. Every human being has a purpose which should dictate him or her to live a purpose driven life. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. Its not just in some of us; its in everyone. As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give others permission to follow suit. As we are emancipated from our own fear, our presence and perseverance automatically emancipates others.

Download or read book Sex Trafficking of Children Online written by Beatriz Susana Uitts and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2022-07-20 with total page 295 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book addresses child sex trafficking in the era of digital technology. As a global problem, human trafficking frequently victimizes the most vulnerable: children. Offenders often use the Internet as a vehicle for criminal activities, including acts to sexually exploit them. With Internet access growing exponentially, more children are online every day, increasing their risk of becoming involved in sexual exploitation or being treated as a commodity. Inconsistent law among countries and the lack of adequate cooperation across borders make combating this issue increasingly difficult. Using a human rights approach, this book offers alternative solutions and recommendations, including establishing a legal protection framework to fight practices that sexually exploit children in cyberspace. In addition, it promotes multi-stakeholder collaboration in the context of corporate social responsibility to prevent and combat these offenses. This book explores the intersection of children’s human rights, online sex trafficking, and international legislation. It provides helpful insights for lawmakers, legal practitioners, scholars, law enforcement officers, child advocates, and students interested in human rights law, criminal law, and child protection.
Download or read book Contemporary Homo Ludens written by Halina Mielicka-Pawłowska and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2016-08-17 with total page 395 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Play allows the fulfilment of one’s dreams, yet also teaches subjugation to the norms governing daily life. Furthermore, traditional forms of play, transmitted from one generation to another, guarantee a culture’s continuance and perpetuation in time. Contemporary forms of play integrate a populace, creating a specific community of laughter which places a high value on individuality and the ability to lead social games. Play invalidates social divisions, but also diversifies behaviours through the introduction of changes in the rules, depending on the age of those engaged. Furthermore, it adapts to the forms by which social reality is created, as well as that reality’s goals, which, in turn, impart sense and meaning to something which, of its own nature, seems deprived thereof.
Download or read book Online Child Sexual Abuse written by Elena Martellozzo and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-06-17 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Online Child Sexual Abuse: Grooming, Policing and Child Protection in a Multi-Media World addresses the complex, multi-faceted and, at times, counter-intuitive relationships between online grooming behaviours, risk assessment, police practices, and the actual danger of subsequent abuse in the physical world. Online child sexual abuse has become a high profile and important issue in public life. When children are victims, there is clearly intense public and political interest and concern. Sex offenders are society’s most reviled deviants and the object of seemingly undifferentiated public fear and loathing. This may be evidenced in ongoing efforts to advance legislation, develop police tactics and to educate children and their carers to engage with multi-media and the internet safely. Understanding how sex offenders use the internet and how the police and the government are responding to their behaviour is central to the development of preventative measures. Based on extensive ethnographic research conducted with the police and a specialist paedophile unit, here Elena Marellozzo presents an informed analysis of online child sexual abuse: of the patterns and characteristics of online grooming, and of the challenges and techniques that characterize its policing. Connecting theory, research and practice in the field of policing, social policy, victimology and criminology, this book adds significantly to our understanding and knowledge of the problem of online child sexual abuse, the way in which victims are targeted and how this phenomenon is, and might be, policed.

Download or read book Digital Virtual Consumption written by Mike Molesworth and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-05-07 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Digital media present opportunities for new types of consumption including desiring, buying, collecting, making, and even selling digital virtual goods. To these activities we can add those taking place in virtual communities of consumption, online shops, brand websites, and online auction houses that together amount to a vast new landscape of consumption. Digital virtual consumption motivates concatenated practices which produce meaningful experience for their users as well as market opportunities to profit from them. Consumers create and maintain elaborate wish lists, engaging with simulations of brands on websites and in videogames, coveting items for use in online games and even spending ‘real’ money on these, undertaking entrepreneurial activity in virtual worlds, conjuring nostalgia via online auctions, engaging in playful consumption in other new retail formats, writing reviews of products as part of the consumption experience, engaging in online activist activities, and many other emerging behaviors. Analyses of consumption in the digital virtual realm are however limited. This collection brings together experienced researchers from the fields of consumer research, digital games, and virtual worlds to provide conceptual and empirical work that helps us understand these new and significant consumer activities. Online communities negotiate the ‘correct’ use of goods and offer technical advice, consumers develop new products, individuals create and distribute their own promotional material for their favorite brands, and entrepreneurial consumers marketing and selling their own products online. Here we may see a blurring of consumption and production, or work and leisure activity that requires further thought about what makes it meaningful for individuals. The chapters in this volume take stock of the emergence and likely importance of digital virtual consumption for consumer culture, including a review of both new and existing conceptual and methodological tools as well as a resource of key examples and analyses of practices.

Download or read book Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre CEOP written by Great Britain. Home Office and published by The Stationery Office. This book was released on 2010 with total page 24 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 2006 the Government recognised that the protection of children required a multi-organisational approach with local, national and international cross-sector co-operation in order to limit offender opportunities and protect the community, in particular children and young people. As a consequence, the Government created CEOP, strongly supported by the police, the internet industry and by the third sector, all of whom recognised the need for a coordinated and holistic approach to the issue of child protection in a digital age - including developing and implementing a 'one stop shop' for internet-related issues that had an impact on the safety and security of children and young people online. Since its inception, CEOP has has rescued over 500 children, and has led to the arrest of over 800 people seeking to harm children. It has developed the leading UK child internet safety website "ThinkUKnow", backed up by a comprehensive schools programme with award winning materials, and has achieved significant success through its 'Most Wanted' website, which targets missing sexual offenders who offend against children. CEOP has been affiliated with the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA), but the Government now believe that the time is right to give CEOP a legal identity of its own as a Non-Departmental Public Body (NDPB). This document sets out the achievements of CEOP, the reasoning for the change in status, the existing remit and further areas of work in which CEOP should develop policies.

Download or read book Sexting and Cyberbullying written by Shaheen Shariff and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2014-12-29 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Directed at policy makers, legislators, educators, parents, the legal community, and anyone concerned about current public policy responses to sexting and cyberbullying, this book examines the lines between online joking and legal consequences. It offers an analysis of reactive versus preventive legal and educational responses to these issues using evidence-based research with digitally empowered kids. Shaheen Shariff highlights the influence of popular and 'rape' culture on the behavior of adolescents who establish sexual identities and social relationships through sexting. She argues that we need to move away from criminalizing children and toward engaging them in the policy development process, and she observes that important lessons can be learned from constitutional and human rights frameworks. She also draws attention to the value of children's literature in helping the legal community better understand children's moral development and in helping children clarify the lines between harmless jokes and harmful postings that could land them in jail.
