Download or read book Engineering Vibration Analysis written by Valery A. Svetlitsky and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2004-01-23 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Theory of vibrations belongs to principal subjects needed for training mechani cal engineers in technological universities. Therefore, the basic goal of the mono graph "Advanced Theory of Vibrations 1" is to help students studying vibration theory for gaining experience in application of this theory for solving particular problems. Thus, while choosing the problems and methods to solve them, the close attention was paid to the applied content of vibration theory. The monograph is devoted to systems with a single degree of freedom and sys tems with a finite number of degrees of freedom. In particular, problems are for mulated associated with determination of frequencies and forms of vibrations, study of forced vibrations, analysis of both stable and unstable vibrations (includ ing those caused by periodic but anharmonic forces). The problems of nonlinear vibrations and of vibration stability, and those related to seeking probabilistic characteristics for solutions to these problems in the case of random forces are also considered. Problems related to parametric vibrations and statistical dynamics of mechanical systems, as well as to determination of critical parameters and of dy namic stability are also analyzed. As a rule, problems presented in the monograph are associated with particular mechanical systems and can be applied for current studies in vibration theory. Al lowing for interests of students independently studying theory of vibrations, the majority of problems are supplied with either detailed solutions or algorithms of the solutions.

Book Engineering Vibration Analysis with Application to Control Systems

Download or read book Engineering Vibration Analysis with Application to Control Systems written by C. Beards and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1995-06-17 with total page 447 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most machines and structures are required to operate with low levels of vibration as smooth running leads to reduced stresses and fatigue and little noise. This book provides a thorough explanation of the principles and methods used to analyse the vibrations of engineering systems, combined with a description of how these techniques and results can be applied to the study of control system dynamics. Numerous worked examples are included, as well as problems with worked solutions, and particular attention is paid to the mathematical modelling of dynamic systems and the derivation of the equations of motion. All engineers, practising and student, should have a good understanding of the methods of analysis available for predicting the vibration response of a system and how it can be modified to produce acceptable results. This text provides an invaluable insight into both.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ground vibration consideration is gaining significance with people’s decreasing tolerance of vibration, introduction of new environmental legislations, increasing use of equipment sensitive to vibration, ageing of existing buildings and expanding construction sites to/near collapsible/liquefiable/thixotropic soil. This volume bridges the gap that exists between rather limited provisions of engineering codes/standards and complex numerical analyses/small-scale tests. The book contains descriptions of ground vibration measurements, predictions and control for engineers. Effects of most frequent sources of ground vibration arising from construction/demolition, traffic and machinery, ground wave amplification and attenuation as well as foundation kinematic and inertial interaction have been considered by simplified analyses aimed at ease and speed of use for major problems in ground vibration engineering. Comments on assumptions, limitations, and factors affecting the results are given. Case studies and examples worldwide are included to illustrate the accuracy and usefulness of simplified methods. A list of references is provided for further consideration, if desired. Audience: This work is of interest to geotechnical engineers, engineering geologists, earthquake engineers and students. Extra material: Microsoft Excel spreadsheets with the input data and results for the case studies and examples considered in this book are available at http://extras.springer.com

Book Fundamentals of Mechanical Vibrations

Download or read book Fundamentals of Mechanical Vibrations written by Liang-Wu Cai and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2016-06-13 with total page 480 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This introductory book covers the most fundamental aspects of linear vibration analysis for mechanical engineering students and engineers. Consisting of five major topics, each has its own chapter and is aligned with five major objectives of the book. It starts from a concise, rigorous and yet accessible introduction to Lagrangian dynamics as a tool for obtaining the governing equation(s) for a system, the starting point of vibration analysis. The second topic introduces mathematical tools for vibration analyses for single degree-of-freedom systems. In the process, every example includes a section Exploring the Solution with MATLAB. This is intended to develop student's affinity to symbolic calculations, and to encourage curiosity-driven explorations. The third topic introduces the lumped-parameter modeling to convert simple engineering structures into models of equivalent masses and springs. The fourth topic introduces mathematical tools for general multiple degrees of freedom systems, with many examples suitable for hand calculation, and a few computer-aided examples that bridges the lumped-parameter models and continuous systems. The last topic introduces the finite element method as a jumping point for students to understand the theory and the use of commercial software for vibration analysis of real-world structures.

Book Vibration Control Engineering

Download or read book Vibration Control Engineering written by Ernesto Novillo and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2021-12-09 with total page 364 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book applies vibration engineering to turbomachinery, covering installation, maintenance and operation. With a practical approach based on clear theoretical principles and formulas, the book is an essential how-to guide for all professional engineers dealing with vibration issues within turbomachinery. Vibration problems in turbines, large fans, blowers, and other rotating machines are common issues within turbomachinery. Applicable to industries such as oil and gas mining, cement, pharmaceutical and naval engineering, the ability to predict vibration based on frequency spectrum patterns is essential for many professional engineers. In this book, the theory behind vibration is clearly detailed, providing an easy to follow methodology through which to calculate vibration propagation. Describing lateral and torsional vibration and how this impacts turbine shaft integrity, the book uses mechanics of materials theory and formulas alongside the matrix method to provide clear solutions to vibration problems. Additionally, it describes how to carry out a risk assessment of vibration fatigue. Other topics covered include vibration control techniques, the design of passive and active absorbers and rigid, non-rigid and Z foundations. The book will be of interest to professionals working with turbomachinery, naval engineering corps and those working on ISO standards 10816 and 13374. It will also aid mechanical engineering students working on vibration and machine design.
