My investigations into the frequencies of the metrical schemata (or "patterns," the term I prefer) and the manner in which they are used took at first the form of charts and percentage tables, and these I have translated, I hope, in such a way that my findings will be meaningful and of value to teachers and students of Latin poetry on all academic levels. -- Preface.
