Book excerpt: What if everything you believed about the world was a lie? Ephraim and Gwen have to face this possibility as they struggle to correct seemingly nefarious and nonstop variations to their timeline. Gwen Navarro has come back to life in so many ways now that she is a time traveling agent with the FBI’s black op, the Transtemporal Agency. Together with her new found love, Ephraim, she is determined to keep the timeline safe. Ephraim is thriving in his work and his relationship with Gwen, keeping his own demons in the past. Everything seems to be going perfectly. However, things get complicated when the timeline starts to shift. Extra people keep appearing, and others disappear entirely. The team can’t keep up with the constant flux. Without any real clues, or tangible evidence, Ephraim and Gwen set out to discover the cause of the variations to the timeline. But when they are separated by time and space, their love and their work is threatened. How can they fix the variations when they aren’t even in the same place at the same time? Roaring through the timeline, the second installment of Gwen and Ephraim’s story comes full circle, as they work with the TA agents to try and fix the variations before the timeline disappears altogether, taking them and everyone they love with it.

Book Variations of Density and Wind with Time at Altitudes 30 to 60 Km

Download or read book Variations of Density and Wind with Time at Altitudes 30 to 60 Km written by Arthur J. Kantor and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Information on the horizontal and vertical distributions of density and wind and their variation with time is important in the design and operation of aerospace vehicles as well as to atmospheric scientists seeking a more precise description of atmospheric structure. Consequently, we have estimated the variations of density and wind at seven locations for periods of from 1 to 72 h between altitudes 30 and 60 km. In the tropics density variations with time are dominated by a diurnal cycle. At other latitudes the diurnal cycle is too small to detect in a lag variability study based on Meteorological Rocket Network observations because the diurnal components are obscured by random observational errors as well as day-to-day changes in synoptic conditions. In summer there is only a small increase in rms variability of density with time at middle and high latitudes; rms values range from 20 to 4 percent for periods up to 72 h. In winter there is a marked change in the rms variability with time at midlatitudes where rms values increase with time, approaching the climatic variability of 5 or 6 percent in 72 h. At high latitudes rms variations increase more rapidly with time and reach 8 or 9 percent within 72 h. Analyses of midlatitude wind data between 30 and 60 km confirm the presence of a well-defined diurnal wind oscillation. It reaches a maximum amplitude of 10 or 11 m/sec between 50 and 55 km; amplitudes tend to be slightly smaller in tropical and polar regions.

Book Tectonomagnetics and Local Geomagnetic Field Variations

Download or read book Tectonomagnetics and Local Geomagnetic Field Variations written by M. Fuller and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Physical and chemical studies of the earth and planets along with their sur roundings are now developing very rapidly. As these studies are of essentially international character, many international conferences, symposia, seminars and workshops are held every year. To publish proceedings of these meetings is of course important for tracing development of various disciplines of earth and plane tary sciences though publishing is fast getting to be an expensive business. It is my pleasure to learn that the Center for Academic Publications Japan and the Japan Scientific Societies Press have agreed to undertake the publication of a series "Advances in Earth and Planetary Sciences" which should certainly become an important medium for conveying achievements of various meetings to the aca demic as well as non-academic scientific communities. It is planned to publish the series mostly on the basis of proceedings that appear in the Journal of Geomagnetism and Geoelectricity edited by the Society of Terrestrial Magnetism and Electricity of Japan, the Journal of Physics of the Earth by the Seismological Society of Japan and the Volcanological Society of Japan, and the Geochemical Journal by the Geochemical Society of Japan, although occasional volumes of the series will include independent proceedings. Selection of meetings, of which the proceedings will be included in the series, will be made by the Editorial Committee for which I have the honour to work as the General Editor.

Book Variations in Time

    Book Details:
  • Author : Nathan Oliveira
  • Publisher : University of Washington Press
  • Release : 1997
  • ISBN :
  • Pages : 76 pages

Download or read book Variations in Time written by Nathan Oliveira and published by University of Washington Press. This book was released on 1997 with total page 76 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Printmaking has appealed to California painter Nathan Oliveira throughout his career, not as a reproductive technology but as an extension of painting. In the early 1970s he became fascinated with the monotypes of Degas and began to work his magic on zinc plates. By merging the act of painting with that of printing in a single process, monotype gave him the ability to generate images in a process of continuous revision. Repaintings on the plate and reimpressions on paper, effacements and resurrections, each contributing changes, spelled the successive stages in the evolution of a pictorial idea that in the usual painting process would have been obliterated by the final stage.

Book Geomagnetic Field Variations in the Past

Download or read book Geomagnetic Field Variations in the Past written by E. Tema and published by Geological Society of London. This book was released on 2020-10-15 with total page 237 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the last decades, palaeomagnetic research has provided important information about the past variation of the Earth’s magnetic field (EMF) from its origin to the present day. However, questions regarding the origin and evolution of the EMF as well as the frequency and spatial distribution of its variations still remain open to debate. This Special Publication provides new insights into the study of the temporal and spatial evolution of the EMF presenting new data from palaeomagnetic and rock magnetic studies of archaeological materials, sediments and lavas. The papers presented cover a wide range of topics related to archaeology, stratigraphy and climate, including new data from several parts of the world, such as Europe, Africa, Australia, New Zealand, India and the Baltic Sea. This Special Publication aims to present an overview of the most recent secular variation studies and their use to disclose fundamental properties of the EMF evolution.

Book Variations in Organization Science

Download or read book Variations in Organization Science written by Donald Thomas Campbell and published by SAGE. This book was released on 1999-05-14 with total page 468 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If he were an assistant professor today, what work would social science giant Donald T. Campbell be doing in the field of organization science? Joel A. C. Baum and Bill McKelvey explore this question in Variations in Organization Science. This volume reveals and celebrates Campbell's many contributions to the field by presenting new variations that stem directly from his work. Rather than analyzing Campbell's work, chapter authors pursue additional implications and further applications of his perspective to organization science - some of which Campbell himself might have pursued if he were starting out as an assistant professor in 1999.

Book Variations in Specialized Genres

Download or read book Variations in Specialized Genres written by Vijay K. Bhatia and published by Narr Francke Attempto Verlag. This book was released on 2015-09-16 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book is an edited volume of carefully selected articles by eminent scholars focusing on the specialist knowledge transmission through genre variation, particularly on the issues of standardization and hybridity. The main focus was to analyse discursive popularization in the contexts and domains of natural sciences, law, and commerce, viewed in a diachronic perspective. The scholars involved have concentrated their studies on the creative transformation, hybridization, and even bending of genres used to popularise scientific, legal and commercial discourse for different communicative purposes and audiences, thus extending the conventional genre boundaries to disseminate specialized knowledge. The proliferation of specialized knowledge has indeed created a growing need to convey expert knowledge to a variety of addressees, with different levels of shared understanding and expertise. Such disciplinary knowledge can only be conveyed through various subtle manipulations of generic conventions keeping in mind the aims, the users, the media, the social contexts, and the domain with which specific knowledge is associated.

Book Secular Solar and Geomagnetic Variations in the Last 10 000 Years

Download or read book Secular Solar and Geomagnetic Variations in the Last 10 000 Years written by F.R. Stephenson and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 511 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Solar and geomagnetic variability are of considerable interest for scientists of many different persuasions and indeed one has the distinct impression that for the sun at least, there is direct relevance for mankind in general as the interrelation between solar and terrestrial phenomena is starting to be appreciated. From the vast time scale of interest in the variability field, attention was confined to the last 10,000 years in a NATO Advanced Research Workshop held from April 6 - 10, 1987 in Durham, England, and the present publication comprises the lectures given there. Such a Workshop was very timely in view of the impressive new data available from 14C analysis in dated tree rings and lOBe in polar ice cores, from natural palaeomagnetic records in lacustrine sediments and from archaeomagnetic material. Also to be mentioned are new studies of historical accounts of naked-eye sunspots and aurorae. All the data have contributed to improvements in under standing the relative variations of solar properties, the geomagnetic field and climate and it is hoped that this volume will convey the flavour of these advances in knowledge. A feature of the Workshop was the lively discussions which followed so many of the papers. There were several instances of healthy disagreement and this is reflected in the opposing views presented inanumber of the papers published here.

Book Regionalizing Global Climate Variations

Download or read book Regionalizing Global Climate Variations written by Vasubandhu Misra and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2020-04-08 with total page 342 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Regionalizing Global Climate Variations: A Study of the Southeastern US Regional Climate provides a framework for understanding regional climate in light of the many assessment reports being released regularly by international organizations. The book emphasizes global climate variations to explore the concept of the regionalization of those variations. Focusing on the climate of the Southeastern United States as a lens, it provides a template for targeting regional climate change in the context of global variability. It includes coverage of weather extremes, such as tornadoes, cyclones, and drought, and approaches the subject from a holistic perspective, including atmospheric, oceanic, and land components. The Southeastern United States is a particularly relevant case study, given the fact that it is the largest quarter of the United States and has the most coastlines, often resulting in a higher number of extreme weather events. This practical approach to understanding climate at the regional/local scale makes the book a valuable resource for students and researchers in Meteorology, Climate Science, Oceanography, Environmental Science, and other applied sectors. Includes descriptions of the morphology of weather extremes such as tropical cyclones and tornadoes Discusses the influence of climate change on weather extremes Presents a holistic or interdisciplinary approach to understanding regional climate that includes features of atmospheric science, meteorology, oceanography, and hydrology
