Book The Minear Family

Download or read book The Minear Family written by Charles Joseph Maxwell and published by . This book was released on 1926 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The following pages contain so far as possible to obtain them the names of the Minear descendants in America. Previous to 1755 John Minear came from Europe to Pennsylvania. In his pension application for services in the Revolutionary War, David Minear states that he was born in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, in 1755. He states that John Minear was his father. It was my hope to give short biographies of more of the older generations, but the information has been so meagre as to discourage the attempt."--Page 1

Book Meeting the Train

  • Author : Hagerman Historical Society
  • Publisher : Sunstone Press
  • Release : 2007-09
  • ISBN : 1611391024
  • Pages : 465 pages

Download or read book Meeting the Train written by Hagerman Historical Society and published by Sunstone Press. This book was released on 2007-09 with total page 465 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When W. E. Utterback began compiling the history of Hagerman, New Mexico in 1968, he asked Mrs. B. W. Curry to help. The two of them were doing fine, but soon discovered that Hagerman had more history than they had bargained for. It had become such a tremendous undertaking the others in the community offered to aid the struggling historians--and the Hagerman History Book Club was born. From the efforts of the Club has come this book. It is a unique achievement. No professional writers set about to search library stacks or interview "old times." No professional writers, in fact, even saw the manuscript until it was finished. The Hagerman pioneers and their descendents have written their own stories, weaving them into a colorful history. Each has become an author in his or her own way. So this is the story of Hagerman as it was with a new foreword by Katherine Kitch Hagerman. It is history remembered by those who lived it.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Creativity is the lifeblood of any business—from fledgling startup to global giant, creativity is what inspires entrepeneurs to take the leap into the unknown, motivates project teams to design faster and better products, drives executives to set their sights on new markets and customers. The Creative Enterprise asks: where do these creative impulses come from, and how can they be channeled into profitable ventures? Contributions from scholars and practitioners around the world integrate insights from the fields of management, economics, technology, psychology, and sociology to shed new light on innovation and how it drives business growth. Volume 1 focuses on innovation strategies, with chapters on developing the new product pipeline, technology transfer, and strategic alliances. Volume 2 considers the individual and organizational aspects of innovation, with chapters on the psychology of creativity and the influences of organizational culture on innovation. Volume 3 covers the infrastructure for promoting and sustaining innovation, with chapters on managing creative teams, selecting and funding projects, and developing effective performance measurement and rewards systems. Create—to make or bring into existence something new, derived from the Latin crescere, to grow. Creativity is the lifeblood of any business—from fledgling startup to global giant, creativity is what inspires entrepreneurs to take the leap into the unknown, motivates project teams to design faster and better products, drives executives to set their sights on new markets and customers. Where does this creativity come from? How can it be channeled into profitable ventures? The Creative Enterprise brings together the most current thinking from academics and practitioners around the world to shed new light on creativity and how it drives business growth. It addresses such topics as: Why are some organizations creative and others are not? What catalyzes new ideas? How can leaders balance short-term financial pressures and long-term creative aspirations? And how can firms maximize the value of their ideas into profitable products and services? While many authors have tackled pieces of the puzzle, this set uniquely integrates insights from the fields of management, economics, technology, psychology, and sociology, to cover the spectrum across individual and organizational innovation. Volume 1 focuses on innovation strategies, with chapters on developing the new product pipeline, measuring the impact of innovation on firm growth, technology transfer, and strategic alliances. Volume 2 considers the individual and organizational aspects of innovation, with chapters on creativity and artwork, idea catalysts and blocks, and the interplay between organizational culture and innovation. Volume 3 covers the infrastructure for promoting and sustaining innovation, with chapters on managing creative teams, selecting and funding projects, and developing effective performance measurement and rewards systems.

Book The Washingtons Volume 9

Download or read book The Washingtons Volume 9 written by Justin Glenn and published by Savas Publishing. This book was released on 2016-10-06 with total page 671 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the ninth volume of a comprehensive history that traces the “Presidential Line” of the Washingtons. Volume one began with the immigrant John Washington who settled in Westmoreland Co., Va., in 1657, married Anne Pope, and was the great-grandfather of President George Washington. It contained the record of their descendants for a total of seven generations. Subsequent volumes two through eight continued this family history for an additional eight generations, highlighting most notable members (volume two) and tracing lines of descent from the royalty and nobility of England and continental Europe (volume three). Volume nine collects over 8,500 descendants of the recently discovered line of William Wright (died in Franklin Co., Va., ca. 1809). It also provides briefer accounts of five other early Wright families of Virginia that have often been mentioned by researchers as close kinsmen of George Washington, including: William Wright (died in Fauquier Co., Va., ca. 1805), Frances Wright and her husband Nimrod Ashby, and William Wright (died in Greensville Co., Va., by 1827). A cumulative index will complete the series as volume ten.
