Book excerpt: La radiographie numérique est un élément majeur en Odontologie car une image de qualité insuffisante peut conduire à des erreurs de diagnostic induisant des traitements inappropriés, trop ou trop peu invasifs. Notre étude a été menée au congrès annuel des dentistes français à Paris en Novembre 2016 auprès de 244 chirurgiens-dentistes et a pour objectif d'évaluer les connaissances et les pratiques des chirurgiens-dentistes dans le domaine de la radiographie numérique. Les praticiens français, bien équipés en type et nombre d'appareils de radiologie numérique, utilisent principalement leur écran au fauteuil ou au bureau pour interpréter les images. Les critères de choix lors de l'achat de l'écran sont majoritairement la taille et la résolution de l'écran, et plus des deux-tiers de leurs écrans ont moins de 5 ans. La moitié des chirurgiens-dentistes ne connaît pas la marque de leurs écrans. Alors que des réglages parfois très simples ou qu'une calibration de l'écran type DICOM part14 GSDF permet d'améliorer grandement la qualité et l'uniformité des images, la grande majorité des praticiens ne règle pas spécifiquement leur écran ou n'est pas au courant qu'une calibration possible existe. Lors du partage des clichés radiographiques avec les confrères ou avec les patients, l'e-mail (non sécurisé) et l'impression papier (dégradant la qualité de l'image) sont majoritairement utilisés. Une sensibilisation/formation des chirurgiens-dentistes paraitrait intéressante afin de palier ce manque de connaissances, la finalité étant d'obtenir une meilleure qualité de soin. Une fiche pratique a été rédigée lors de ce travail, donnant des conseils afin d'améliorer simplement et rapidement la qualité de l'écran.
