Book Environmental Sensing and Monitoring Using Digital Camera Penerbit USM

Download or read book Environmental Sensing and Monitoring Using Digital Camera Penerbit USM written by Lim Hwee San and published by Penerbit USM. This book was released on with total page 85 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph is the outcome of 15 years experience of working with satellite images with the funding from IRPA RM7, ESCAP NASDA, Science Fund and several short term grants. It introduces a new methodology and algorithms for water and air quality monitoring by using conventional digital camera as a sensor to provide multi-spectral remote sensing data. The image is either captured by a digital camera mounted in an unman aircraft vehicle (UAV) or directly captured from a light air-craft. New algorithms were developed to correlate the pollutant concentration with the digital images. The algorithms can also generate a map of the pollutant concentration of the studied area. Pollutant information is very important for survey information, tourism information, development assessment, coastal preservation and area development planning. This new methodology allows images to be captured below the cloud level. Thus, with this method and the algorithms, cloud cover problem of satellite and airborne images can be overcome. They also overcome the problems of time, money, and resources wasted in collecting in-situ data for algorithm calibration of cloud cover satellite images. Furthermore, they provide real-time, high accuracy information. Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penerbit Universiti Sains Malaysia

Book Bio optical Modeling and Remote Sensing of Inland Waters

Download or read book Bio optical Modeling and Remote Sensing of Inland Waters written by Deepak R. Mishra and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2017-04-28 with total page 334 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bio-optical Modeling and Remote Sensing of Inland Waters presents the latest developments, state-of-the-art, and future perspectives of bio-optical modeling for each optically active component of inland waters, providing a broad range of applications of water quality monitoring using remote sensing. Rather than discussing optical radiometry theories, the authors explore the applications of these theories to inland aquatic environments. The book not only covers applications, but also discusses new possibilities, making the bio-optical theories operational, a concept that is of great interest to both government and private sector organizations. In addition, it addresses not only the physical theory that makes bio-optical modeling possible, but also the implementation and applications of bio-optical modeling in inland waters. Early chapters introduce the concepts of bio-optical modeling and the classification of bio-optical models and satellite capabilities both in existence and in development. Later chapters target specific optically active components (OACs) for inland waters and present the current status and future direction of bio-optical modeling for the OACs. Concluding sections provide an overview of a governance strategy for global monitoring of inland waters based on earth observation and bio-optical modeling. Presents comprehensive chapters that each target a different optically active component of inland waters Contains contributions from respected and active professionals in the field Presents applications of bio-optical modeling theories that are applicable to researchers, professionals, and government agencies

Book Sourcebook on Remote Sensing and Biodiversity Indicators

Download or read book Sourcebook on Remote Sensing and Biodiversity Indicators written by Holly Strand and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This sourcebook is intended to assist environmental managers and others who work with indicators in pursuing appropriate methods for indicator testing and production, and to offer some guidance to those responsible for the interpretation of indicators and implementation of decisions based on them. Upon reading this document, technical advisers, environmental policy makers, and remote sensing lab directors and project managers should be able to identify specific, relevant uses of remote sensing data for biodiversity monitoring and indicator development related to the CBD." --p. 8.

Book National Lakes Assessment

Download or read book National Lakes Assessment written by Susan Holdsworth and published by DIANE Publishing. This book was released on 2011 with total page 10 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a print on demand edition of a hard to find publication. Report of a survey conducted by the EPA and its state and tribal partners of the nation's lakes, ponds and reservoirs. This National Lakes Assessment is designed to provide statistically valid regional and national estimates of the condition of lakes. It uses a probability-based sampling design to represent the condition of all lakes in similar regions sharing similar ecological characteristics. Consistent sampling and analytical procedures ensure that the results can be compared across the country. The National Lakes Assessment helps build state and tribal capacity for monitoring and assessment and promotes collaboration across jurisdictional boundaries in the assessment of water quality.
