Book Unlocking Galatians Again

Download or read book Unlocking Galatians Again written by Clarence Reyneveld and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2008-10 with total page 410 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Unlocking Galatians Again is a verse-by-verse journey through Galatians. Like an underground cavern it has impressive chambers. Some hidden chambers will need to be opened and explored. Like the sun, St. Paul's epistle to the Galatians shines forth with light. During Luther's time it pierced the darkness. History shows us that when its light grows dim, God's people become like a wilted flower. When its light grows bright, we become like a thriving plant. It teaches us how to walk by faith by telling us where to focus our faith. Translation decisions can sometimes hinder some of its light from shining. For the Christian, a fresh discovery of Galatians can cause a burst of renewal. For the Pastor, it may change the way we preach and care for the spiritual needs of others. Walk with Luther through this cavern. You will discover spiritually impressive sights which he experienced while traveling through Galatians. After being ordained in 1987, Chaplain Clarence Reyneveld served as a Pastor in Illinois, Michigan, and Washington State. Since 1999 he has been involved in a television ministry, producing and presenting Bible Study programs which are aired in many homes mainly in Michigan. His unique blend of training and spiritual involvement gives him important qualifications to write this book.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This new commentary in the New Testament Library series is not a systematic study of Pauline theology; rather, the aim of this study is to trace Paul's theology as it unfolds in his letter to the church at Galatia, and to attempt to illuminate, as far as possible, how the Galatians likely comprehended it, at the time they received it. The author asks readers to imagine themselves as silent witnesses to Paul's dictation of the letter and to observe, through a historical perspective, how the Galatian Christians might have understood Paul's words.

Book excerpt: What does it mean to move beyond the boundaries of what we believe? The apostle Paul led the Galatians through a massive cultural shift in which they had to radically expand their ideas of who God is, who they were, and God's mission for the church. He was able to lead them through this time of great change because of his encounter with the risen Christ on the Damascus road, an experience in which his view of God was completely upended. Today Christianity is undergoing a cultural shift just as challenging as the situation confronting Paul and the Galatians. As many churches decline, congregations and pastors feel uncertain and anxious about how to continue their mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ. Elaine Heath extends an invitation to broaden our view of God by moving beyond the walls of buildings and programs to become a more diverse church than we have ever imagined. While deeply honoring tradition, she calls the church to boldly follow the Holy Spirit's leadership into the future. Ideal for a 6- to 9-week small-group study.

Book A Commentary on Galatians

Download or read book A Commentary on Galatians written by David Pawson and published by Anchor. This book was released on 2013-07-17 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The modern mood is that we do not want to argue about religion. We do not want to quarrel, but to be comfortable with each other. Galatians is not that kind of a letter. Paul argues with other Christians, not with unbelievers, and his message in the letter has in turn caused many arguments. Arguments can be good. If Luther had not been willing to get into an argument, the Reformation would not have occurred. When we come to Galatians, we are handling some of the biggest issues of all. There are fundamental issues without which you lose the Christian gospel, so, I am afraid, fighting is involved. Many of the biggest battles that Christians have to face are inside the church, not outside it. That is painful. Who likes a family that is arguing? Whenever the devil attacks the church from the outside, the church gets stronger and bigger. His attacks are much more successful when they come from the inside, and one of the quickest ways to do that is to pervert or corrupt or erode the gospel. If he can do that, he knows that he has destroyed the church from the inside. Legalism and licence are still with us. But so is true liberty. We must stay and walk with others along the narrow path, the wind of the Spirit blowing in our faces and the blessing of God’s grace upon us. We are free not to sin and free to be bold, if we will only walk in the Spirit. Galatians is one of the most powerful letters you will ever read.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: God's grace cannot be earned... Follow Dr. Jeremiah through the letter of Galatians in a chapter-by-chapter study that will help you understand what it meant to the people at the time it was written, and what it means to Christians today. Paul's letter is written to those who had been deceived into believing they had to practice the laws of the Old Testament to receive salvation. Paul is adamant that God's grace cannot be earned, regardless of how many commandments we try to obey. Only our faith in Jesus provides the way to eternal life. "Man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ...for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified" (Galatians 2:16). This knowledge gives us freedom from the pressure of trying to be "good enough" for God. Each of this study's twelve lessons is clearly organized to include: Getting Started: An opening question to introduce you to the lesson. Setting the Stage: A short reflection to explain the context of the study. Exploring the Text: The Scripture reading for the lesson with related study questions. Reviewing the Story: Questions to help you identify key points in the reading. Applying the Message: Questions to help you apply the key ideas to their lives. Reflecting on the Meaning: A closing reflection on the key teachings in the lesson. —ABOUT THE SERIES— The Jeremiah Bible Study Series captures Dr. David Jeremiah's forty-plus years of commitment in teaching the Word of God. In each study, you'll gain insights into the text, identify key stories and themes, and be challenged to apply the truths you uncover to your life.
