  • Author : Dr. Ryan Martin
  • Publisher : Watkins Media Limited
  • Release : 2021-01-12
  • ISBN : 1786784750
  • Pages : 197 pages

Download or read book Why We Get Mad written by Dr. Ryan Martin and published by Watkins Media Limited. This book was released on 2021-01-12 with total page 197 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is THE book on anger, the first book to explain exactly why we get mad, what anger really is - and how to cope with and use it. Often confused with hostility and violence, anger is fundamentally different from these aggressive behaviours and in fact can be a healthy and powerful force in our lives. What is anger? Who is allowed to be angry? How can we manage our anger? How can we use it? It might seem like a day doesn't go by without some troubling explosion of anger, whether we're shouting at the kids, or the TV, or the driver ahead who's slowing us down. In this book, the first of its kind, Dr. Ryan Martin draws on 20 years plus of research, as well as his own childhood experience of an angry parent, to take an all-round view on this often-challenging emotion. It explains exactly what anger is, why we get angry, how our anger hurts us as well as those around us, and how we can manage our anger and even channel it into positive change. It also explores how race and gender shape society's perceptions of who is allowed to get angry. Dr. Martin offers questionnaires, emotion logs, control techniques and many other tools to help readers understand better what pushes their buttons and what to do with angry feelings when they arise. It shows how to differentiate good anger from bad anger, and reframe anger from being a necessarily problematic experience in our lives to being a fuel that energizes us to solve problems, release our creativity and confront injustice.

Book Bend in the Road

Download or read book Bend in the Road written by Barbara A. Robinson and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2015-08-07 with total page 265 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is no blueprint for grieving. There are not any steps, directions, or instructions to understanding our pain. There are no words of wisdom that can change our situation and no medicine to heal the wound left when our heart breaks. I cannot give you any advice or a recipe on how to grieve, nor tell you how long to grieve, how you should feel, or what actions to take to cope with your pain. I can only say that God does not make mistakes. I can also share with you my experiences, my journey, my faith, and my glory dance steps of life. Your season of being with the love of your life who has gone on to glory is over. Accept that and dont put a question mark where God has put a period. I can only tell you what God did to heal my pain, and what He did for me, He will do for you. This life He gave me is a present, and each day I wake up is me unwrapping that gift. If I hold a pity party rather than trying to discover what God would have me do, it sends a message to God that I do not appreciate His gift. Lifes road bends, twists, goes up hills, into valleys, streams, rivers, over mountains, into pot holes, and around curves. Around the next bend may be heartache or happiness, pain or pleasure, sunshine or rain. Regardless of what lies around the next bend, God is always there, waiting with outstretched arms to either catch you if you fall or teach you how to fly. When you get to the end of your rope hand it to God, He will tie it around your waist and help you stand.

Download or read book The Ten Demandments written by Loretta J. Womack and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2018-02-06 with total page 105 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the Old Testament, God gave Moses the Ten Commandments, and in the New Testament, Jesus gave his disciples the two great commandments—to love God with all your heart, soul, and mind, and to love your neighbor as yourself. But since we know what God expects from us, what should we expect from our husbands, wives, and children? Moreover, what should we expect from ourselves? The Ten Demandments offers an inspiring and encouraging collection of the ten commandments—or demandments—that every husband, wife, and child should expect and demand of each other and themselves. It outlines all the demands, promises, and rules that every Christian relationship and household needs. The Ten Demandments provides ten inspiring demandments for each relationship in a faithful Christian home—husbands to wives, wives to husbands, parents to children, and even children to parents—offering biblically sound advice for keeping these promises. And even more, it helps each person keep ten demandments of themselves, reminding us to especially keep God first in our lives. Keeping God’s commandments is always important, and today we can also promise to hold ourselves accountable to our husbands, wives, and children with The Ten Demandments. By doing our parts and honoring the expectations of our loved ones, we can glorify and honor God, deepening our personal relationship with him.

People on all points in the political spectrum care deeply about their country, although they differ wildly in their opinions about what it looks like to serve that country well. As Christians, we love God and seek to follow him. At the same time, nothing shapes us and tugs at our loyalties quite like the place we live. And of course we are regularly encouraged to pledge our allegiance to our country—or particular understandings of it. Who wins when the priorities of God and our country clash? In Kingdom and Country, a collection of leading Christian thinkers and practitioners take a holistic approach to considering the questions of patriotism, nationalism, and where our ultimate loyalties must lie. Contributors include Alejandro Mandes, Juliet Liu, Ryan Tafilowski, Derek Vreeland, Rod Wilson, Michelle Reyes, Amanda Smith, Karen Wilk, Sean Palmer, and Tina Boesch Kingdom and Country is the second in a series of Kingdom Conversations, books that bring together trusted Christian voices to address some of the most urgent and perplexing challenges of our time in timeless and redemptive ways.
