Ce livre est destiné aux utilisateurs confrontés à des tableaux multiples. Une large place est accordée aux applications et à la mise en oeuvre via R. L’objectif est de rendre l’utilisateur autonome dans l’application de l’AFM sur ses données. Dans cet esprit, ce livre : – introduit une à une les principales caractéristiques de la méthode intuitivement à partir d’exemples ; – donne les éléments théoriques nécessaires pour une compréhension en profondeur avec un recours au raisonnement géométrique systématique ; – illustre les résultats à partir des exemples introductifs ; – détaille la marche à suivre pour appliquer l’AFM avec le package FactoMineR ou via des codes R. Ces codes sont disponibles sur le site du LMA 2 (Agrocampus). Cet exposé est complété par une présentation des méthodes classiques, ACP et ACM , elle aussi fondée sur des exemples. L’ensemble constitue l’état de l’art aujourd’hui en analyse factorielle. Computational resources such as processors, memories, wireless communication accelerate this computation-intensive systems and accumulation of digital data of speech and language encourage recent approaches based on machine learning. Through field experiments after long research in laboratories, S2S systems are being well-developed and now ready to utilized in daily life. Unique chapter of this book is end-2-end evaluation by comparing system’s performance and human competence. The effectiveness of the system would be understood by the score of this evaluation. The book will end with one of the next focus of S2S will be technology of simultaneous interpretation for lecture, broadcast news and so on.

Beadle In contrast to the more sta bie oceans, inland waters are, on the geological time scale, short-lived and are subject to great fluctuations in chemical composition and physical features. Very few lakes and rivers have existed continuously for more than a million years, and the life of the majority is to be measured in thousands or less. Earth movements, erosion and long-term climatic changes in the past have caused many of them to appear and disappear. No wonder then that most freshwater organism are especially adapted to great changes and many even to temporary extinction of their environment. Recent studies of residual sediments from existing and extinct lakes in tropical Africa have told us much about their age and the past history of their faunas and floras, from which we may deduce something about the climate and the conditions in the water in the past. The forces that have formed and moulded the African Great Lakes have been catastrophic in their violence and effects. They are not yet finished, but the present rate of change is, in human terms, too slow for direct observation of the ecological effects. The large man-made lakes are providing very good opportunities for studying the chemi cal and biological consequences of the initial filling but, once filled, they are artificially protected against major fluctuations.
