Book Understanding Purchase Intention of Functional Beverages Among Taiwan s College Students

Download or read book Understanding Purchase Intention of Functional Beverages Among Taiwan s College Students written by Ai-Lin Lee and published by . This book was released on 2011 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As health awareness among consumers has risen over the last couple of decades, the market of functional beverages is expected to witness ongoing growth in annual sales. However, research which identifies the determinants of consumers purchase intention of functional beverages in one of the emerging markets, Taiwan, is scant. Therefore, the aim of this research is to investigate what factors motivate consumers to buy functional beverages using Ajzen's Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB). Also, this study tests and analyses the extended TPB model with product involvement as additional intention driver, and moderation model with two moderators - product involvement and past behaviour. In addition, this research compares the TPB with its original framework, the Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA), in terms of their predictive ability. Data for the study were collected in May and June of 2011 from 309 Taiwan's college students. Descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and regression analyses are conducted to understand the relationship between intention determinants and behavioural intention. Results of this study support the use of the TPB in explaining consumers' purchase intention of functional beverages with 39.4% of variance explained by the TPB variables. Moreover, the TPB is proved to hold more explanatory power than the TRA. Even though the findings suggest no moderating effects of product involvement and past behaviour on the relationship between the TPB variables and intention, product involvement is found to have a direct relationship with intention. The inclusion of this involvement variable makes the extended model to account for 48.5% of variance in intention. To conclude, this study offers insights for understanding possible factors affecting consumers purchase intention of functional beverages.

Book excerpt: Globally, the food system and the relationship of the individual to that system, continues to change and grow in complexity. Eating is an everyday event that is part of everyone’s lives. There are many commentaries on the nature of these changes to what, where and how we eat and their socio-cultural, environmental, educational, economic and health consequences. Among this discussion, the term "food literacy" has emerged to acknowledge the broad role food and eating play in our lives and the empowerment that comes from meeting food needs well. In this book, contributors from Australia, China, United Kingdom and North America provide a review of international research on food literacy and how this can be applied in schools, health care settings and public education and communication at the individual, group and population level. These varying perspectives will give the reader an introduction to this emerging concept. The book gathers current insights and provides a platform for discussion to further understanding and application in this field. It stimulates the reader to conceptualise what food literacy means to their practice and to critically review its potential contribution to a range of outcomes.

Book Crying in H Mart

Download or read book Crying in H Mart written by Michelle Zauner and published by Vintage. This book was released on 2021-04-20 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • From the indie rock sensation known as Japanese Breakfast, an unforgettable memoir about family, food, grief, love, and growing up Korean American—“in losing her mother and cooking to bring her back to life, Zauner became herself” (NPR). • CELEBRATING OVER ONE YEAR ON THE NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER LIST In this exquisite story of family, food, grief, and endurance, Michelle Zauner proves herself far more than a dazzling singer, songwriter, and guitarist. With humor and heart, she tells of growing up one of the few Asian American kids at her school in Eugene, Oregon; of struggling with her mother's particular, high expectations of her; of a painful adolescence; of treasured months spent in her grandmother's tiny apartment in Seoul, where she and her mother would bond, late at night, over heaping plates of food. As she grew up, moving to the East Coast for college, finding work in the restaurant industry, and performing gigs with her fledgling band--and meeting the man who would become her husband--her Koreanness began to feel ever more distant, even as she found the life she wanted to live. It was her mother's diagnosis of terminal cancer, when Michelle was twenty-five, that forced a reckoning with her identity and brought her to reclaim the gifts of taste, language, and history her mother had given her. Vivacious and plainspoken, lyrical and honest, Zauner's voice is as radiantly alive on the page as it is onstage. Rich with intimate anecdotes that will resonate widely, and complete with family photos, Crying in H Mart is a book to cherish, share, and reread.
