A linear digital filter was applied to the data to eliminate the low-frequency portion of the data record. Frequency-distribution histograms were computed for several parameters so that magnitudes of differences could be determined. The differences in position appear to be of a bias nature, and a significant number of them could be as much as 160 feet in the 'X' direction, 120 feet in the 'Y' direction, and 140 feet in the 'X' direction. A significant spike in the slant range spectra occurred between 3 and 4 Hertz. (Author).

(This analysis is sponsored by the Air Force Systems Command and the Electronic Systems Division under Programs 441A and 414L). Significant findings to date include detection of sustainer-engine-produced ionospheric perturbation, high-altitude preinsertion burn of the vernier engine (Venik), and insertion staging with reflections from multiple bodies at ranges in excess of 2000 n.mi. Also of interest was the detection and tracking of three aircraft at two-hop ranges in excess of 2900 n.mi. This is an interim report; cross-section estimation and identification of insertion-staging elements is continuing.

Hanscom Field, Massachusetts, and included in the analysis. Included in t e analysis are the results of the operational tests, uman factors engineering review, and the reliability study on the AN/FPS-68. It is concluded that the AN/FPS-68 demonstrated its feasibility as an operational tool, and that development of the improved model AN/FPS-77(V) is desirable. (Author).
