Book Understanding and Accepting Our Responsibilities As Men

Download or read book Understanding and Accepting Our Responsibilities As Men written by Talmadge S. Robinson and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2012-09-06 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First of all I like to thank god for all he has done in me and my wife’s life, everything from keeping us when we were in sin, until now by giving us peace and joy in our hearts. I wish I could get the men to see that no matter how we may look at life it is going to all come down to the choices that we make in life as a man. Men I feel that it is time for us to start reaching out to the men of today because a lot of our young men and adult males are really confused about their responsibilities as men and god has placed it on my heart to show men that being a man and being a saved man is the desire that God has for our lives. But my first agenda is to ensure you that whatever your are going through at this point in your life; is to let you know that someone has already gone through it and is willing to help you get through your situation so you can have joy and peace in your life. But as men we don't like to talk about what we are going through in our life because we are taught from a young age that a man is not suppose to cry, show emotion or talk about what’s going on in their minds, because that is a sign of weakness. But I want my brothers to understand that giving your life to Christ and letting him know that you need his help is not a sign weakness, but the first sign of being the man that God wants you to be. So I like for all the men of the world especially my unsaved brother to take time out of their busy schedules to read this book and know in my heart that once you read this book (Understanding and Accepting Our Responsibilities as Men) your life will never be the same again. Because I know that if I can touch the men of today and show them that they can live there life in peace, joy and love and that it is your time to receive your blessings by taking on your responsibilities as a man by giving your life to Christ first, then I know that the future for our younger generation will be promising. Men we are in a time now when our sons, daughters, and wife need us to be the men that god intended for us to be, so it’s time for us to step up and take our rightful place as men in our families’ life most of all in gods kingdom. Brothers you may say why is he so concern about the men, the reason is because one I am a man and the other reason is the lord put someone in my life to show me the way and through their prayers and his grace and mercy he saved me so I can understand and explain to the men of the world that we need to lead and not just follow. The 2nd reason is I am so tired of losing so many of our young men because we are not teaching them the true meaning of being a man. (So men it’s time to stand up and take your rightful place at the head of your families be it single or married and help me reach other unsaved brothers.).

Book excerpt: Sometimes, grace gets messy. Caleb Kaltenbach was raised by LGBT parents, marched in gay pride parades as a youngster, and experienced firsthand the hatred and bitterness of some Christians toward his family. But then Caleb surprised everyone, including himself, by becoming a Christian…and a pastor. Very few issues in Christianity are as divisive as the acceptance of the LGBT community in the church. As a pastor and as a person with beloved family members living a gay lifestyle, Caleb had to face this issue with courage and grace. Messy Grace shows us that Jesus’s command to “love your neighbor as yourself” doesn’t have an exception clause for a gay “neighbor”—or for that matter, any other “neighbor” we might find it hard to relate to. Jesus was able to love these people and yet still hold on to his beliefs. So can you. Even when it’s messy. “Messy Grace is an important contribution to the conversation about sexual identity for churches and leaders. Caleb's story is surprising and unique, and he weaves it together compellingly. He states his views clearly, leaves room for disagreement, and champions love no matter where you are in this conversation.” —Jud Wilhite, Sr. Pastor, Central Christian Church

Book Biblical Foundations for Manhood and Womanhood

Download or read book Biblical Foundations for Manhood and Womanhood written by Wayne Grudem and published by Crossway. This book was released on 2002-10-04 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For years a debate has raged over how to define true masculinity and true femininity. While there is agreement that men and women share equally in the privilege of being made in God's image, some views of manhood and womanhood blur God-given gender distinctions. Wayne Grudem assembled a team of distinguished writers to show how egalitarian views destroy God's ideal for your relationships, marriage, and life purposes. The contributors to this book include: John Piper, Pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Minneapolis, Minnesota Bruce A. Ware, Senior Associate Dean of the School of Theology and Professor of Christian Theology at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary Richard W. Hove, Director of Campus Crusade for Christ at Duke University Daniel Doriani, Dean of the Faculty and Professor of New Testament at Covenant Theological Seminary Daniel R. Heimbach, Professor of Christian Ethics at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary Peter Jones, Professor of New Testament at Westminster Theological Seminary in California These writers explore key issues, including the interchangeability of male-female roles, the meaning of submission, and the historical novelty of egalitarian interpretations of Scripture. This book will demonstrate how some views of manhood and womanhood tamper with our understanding of God's character and why the extremes of male domination and feminism destroy the beauty of our sexual differences-differences that celebrate the excellence of men and women as God created us.

Book excerpt: The author of Desiring God reveals the biblical evidence to help us see and savor what the pleasures of God show us about Him. Includes a study guide for individual and small-group use. Isn’t it true—we really don’t know someone until we understand what makes that person happy? And so it is with God! What does bring delight to the happiest Being in the universe? John Piper writes, that it’s only when we know what makes God glad that we’ll know the greatness of His glory. Therefore, we must comprehend “the pleasures of God.” Unlike so much of what is written today, this is not a book about us. It is about the One we were made for—God Himself. In this theological masterpiece—chosen by World Magazine as one of the 20th Century’s top 100 books, John Piper reveals the biblical evidence to help us see and savor what the pleasures of God show us about Him. Then we will be able to drink deeply—and satisfyingly—from the only well that offers living water. What followers of Jesus need now, more than anything else, is to know and love—behold and embrace—the great, glorious, sovereign, happy God of the Bible. “This is a unique and precious book that everybody should read more than once.” —J.I. PACKER, Regent College, Vancouver, British Columbia

Book Andrew Carnegie Speaks to the 1

Download or read book Andrew Carnegie Speaks to the 1 written by Andrew Carnegie and published by Gray Rabbit Publishing. This book was released on 2016-04-14 with total page 34 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Before the 99% occupied Wall Street... Before the concept of social justice had impinged on the social conscience... Before the social safety net had even been conceived... By the turn of the 20th Century, the era of the robber barons, Andrew Carnegie (1835-1919) had already accumulated a staggeringly large fortune; he was one of the wealthiest people on the globe. He guaranteed his position as one of the wealthiest men ever when he sold his steel business to create the United States Steel Corporation. Following that sale, he spent his last 18 years, he gave away nearly 90% of his fortune to charities, foundations, and universities. His charitable efforts actually started far earlier. At the age of 33, he wrote a memo to himself, noting ..".The amassing of wealth is one of the worse species of idolatry. No idol more debasing than the worship of money." In 1881, he gave a library to his hometown of Dunfermline, Scotland. In 1889, he spelled out his belief that the rich should use their wealth to help enrich society, in an article called "The Gospel of Wealth" this book. Carnegie writes that the best way of dealing with wealth inequality is for the wealthy to redistribute their surplus means in a responsible and thoughtful manner, arguing that surplus wealth produces the greatest net benefit to society when it is administered carefully by the wealthy. He also argues against extravagance, irresponsible spending, or self-indulgence, instead promoting the administration of capital during one's lifetime toward the cause of reducing the stratification between the rich and poor. Though written more than a century ago, Carnegie's words still ring true today, urging a better, more equitable world through greater social consciousness.
