This book was released on 2018-11-30 with total page 348 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Central Bank of Brazil (BCB) has shown a determined commitment to enhancing its standards and practices of banking supervision. Changes in the thinking and practices of the BCB’s supervision are not limited to responses to the demands of the international regulatory reform agenda. Overall, the BCB has been guided by the principle of integration, both in terms of the expectations that it places on its own internal operations but on the standards it expects the financial institutions to meet in governing their own risks and activities. One example is the BCB’s innovative and challenging work in the field of contagion analysis at the systemic level which is a perspective it also seeks to embed in its analysis of contagion risk in its prudential work at firm level. Boosting staff levels in conduct supervision, introducing a form of twin peaks, contagion risk analysis, and the prudential conglomerate approach also exemplify welcome developments.

Book ERM Enterprise Risk Management

Download or read book ERM Enterprise Risk Management written by Jean-Paul Louisot and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2014-06-03 with total page 293 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. One reason for this is that, until recently, there were many disparate, even conflicting definitions of what, exactly ERM is and, more importantly, how organizations can use it to utmost advantage. With efforts underway, internationally, to mandate ERM and to standardize ERM standards and practices, the need has never been greater for an authoritative resource offering risk management professionals authoritative coverage of the full array of contemporary ERM issues and challenges. Written by two recognized international thought leaders in the field, ERM-Enterprise Risk Management provides that and much more. Packed with international cases studies illustrating ERM best practices applicable across all industry sectors and business models Explores contemporary issues, including quantitative and qualitative measures, as well as potential pitfalls and challenges facing today's enterprise risk managers Includes interviews with leading risk management theorists and practitioners, as well as risk managers from a variety of industries An indispensable working resource for risk management practitioners everywhere and a valuable reference for researchers, providing the latest empirical evidence and an exhaustive bibliography

Book Global Financial Stability Report April 2015

Download or read book Global Financial Stability Report April 2015 written by International Monetary Fund. Monetary and Capital Markets Department and published by International Monetary Fund. This book was released on 2015-04-15 with total page 162 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The current report finds that, despite an improvement in economic prospects in some key advanced economies, new challenges to global financial stability have arisen. The global financial system is being buffeted by a series of changes, including lower oil prices and, in some cases, diverging growth patterns and monetary policies. Expectations for rising U.S. policy rates sparked a significant appreciation of the U.S. dollar, while long term bond yields in many advanced economies have decreased—and have turned negative for almost a third of euro area sovereign bonds—on disinflation concerns and the prospect of continued monetary accommodation. Emerging markets are caught in these global cross currents, with some oil exporters and other facing new stability challenges, while others have gained more policy space as a result of lower fuel prices and reduced inflationary pressures. The report also examines changes in international banking since the global financial crisis and finds that these changes are likely to promote more stable bank lending in host countries. Finally, the report finds that the asset management industry needs to strengthen its oversight framework to address financial stability risks from incentive problems between end-investors and portfolio managers and the risk of runs due to liquidity mismatches.

Book The Risk of Trading

Download or read book The Risk of Trading written by Michael Toma and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2012-04-17 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Develop the skills to manage risk in the high-stakes world of financial speculation The Risk of Trading is a practical resource that takes an in-depth look at one of the most challenging factors of trading—risk management. The book puts a magnifying glass on the issue of risk, something that every trader needs to understand in order to be successful. Most traders look at risk in terms of a "stop-loss" that enables them to exit a losing trade quickly. In The Risk of Trading, Michael Toma explains that risk is ever-present in every aspect of trading and advocates that traders adopt a more comprehensive view of risk that encompasses the strategic trading plan, account size, drawdowns, maximum possible losses, psychological capital, and crisis management. Shows how to conduct a detailed statistical analysis of an individual's trading methodology through back-testing and real-time results so as to identify when the methodology may be breaking down in actual trading Reveals why traders should think of themselves as project managers who are strategically managing risk The book is based on the author's unique 'focus on the risk' approach to trading using data-driven risk statistical analytics Using this book as a guide, traders can operate more as business managers and learn how to avoid market-busting losses while achieving consistently good results.

Book Public Sector Debt Statistics

Download or read book Public Sector Debt Statistics written by International Monetary Fund and published by International Monetary Fund. This book was released on 2011-12-08 with total page 230 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The global financial crisis of recent years and the associated large fiscal deficits and debt levels that have impacted many countries underscores the importance of reliable and timely government statistics and, more broadly, public sector debt as a critical element in countries fiscal and external sustainability. Public Sector Debt Statistics is the first international guide of its kind, and its primary objectives are to improve the quality and timeliness of key debt statistics and promote a convergence of recording practices to foster international comparability and as a reference for national compilers and users for compiling and disseminating these data. Like other statistical guides published by the IMF, this one was prepared in consultation with countries and international agencies, including the nine organizations of the Inter-Agency Task Force on Finance Statistics (TFFS). The guide's preparation was based on the broad range of experience of our institutions and benefitted from consultation with national compilers of government finance and public sector debt statistics. The guide's concepts are harmonized with those of the System of National Accounts (2008) and the Balance of Payments and International Investment Position Manual, Sixth Edition.
