Download or read book The Dark Frontier written by Tom Torchwood and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2022-08-14 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this short book, I describe my own childhood encounters with members of some of the secret space programs during my childhood in the 1970s and early 1980s, and my close encounters I had with some extra-terrestrials races, who took me onboard their vehicles and they would give me tours and explain how their vehicles work. This book describes how UFO propulsion systems actually work, where the extra-terrestrials use field propulsion systems to produce levitation, and bend space and time around their vehicles, so they vehicles can enter in hyperspace and travel vast distances in a short space of time. Due to the my childhood memories have degraded with time, I have managed to fill in the gaps by spending years studying numerous UFO books, magazines and TV documentaries, where I have managed to piece together a good picture on how UFO propulsion systems work. In this book I will also describe the interior of the triangular-shaped UFOs which have been more common than the old fashioned saucer-shaped vehicles. This short book is packed with facts and useful information on how UFOs work, and the technologies possessed by their occupants, and if you enjoy reading UFO books you will find this book answers many unsolved questions on how UFOs work. This book describes how a mysterious Nazi secret weapon called the Die Glocke device works, and this book also explores the Philadelphia experiment and the Montauk project, which was the inspiration of the popular sci-fi TV series on Netflix called, "Stranger Things". Book Frontiers of Identity

Download or read book Frontiers of Identity written by Robin Cohen and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2024-02-09 with total page 230 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published in 1994, this book considers one of the enduring themes of social science. How is a national identity forged and sustained? How does it change over time? Who is included in the body politic and who is socially excluded? How do the established population, opinion-makers and politicians react to more marginal people, including long-spurned minorities and recent migrants? This original analysis shows how the British as a people are constantly defined and redefined through their interactions with several ‘frontiers of identity’, namely Celts, expatriates, Americans, Europeans, citizens of the Commonwealth and more crucially with ‘aliens’. The alien-British relationship is particularly loaded with uneasiness, aversion and hostility. ‘Aliens’ a category created by what the author calls ‘the frontier guards’ of British identity, are frequently deported or detained. Their sanctuaries are invaded, their legal and humanitarian claims for asylum minutely examined and often denied. This searching exploration of these processes shows how the meaning of who one is depends crucially on who one rejects. Drawing on a wealth of historical scholarship, research compiled at the time of the original publication and contemporary social theory and now reissued with a new Preface this book exposes the unstated assumptions and hidden meanings in the relationship between the ‘British’ and ‘the others'. It uncovers how the British and their rulers seek to reshape their national identity in a difficult period of post-imperial adjustment, relative economic decline and the European integration of the 1990s. The book will be of use to students of sociology, politics, history and European studies.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A voyage of exploration to the outer reaches of our inner lives. UFOs are a myth, says David J. Halperin—but myths are real. The power and fascination of the UFO has nothing to do with space travel or life on other planets. It's about us, our longings and terrors, and especially the greatest terror of all: the end of our existence. This is a book about UFOs that goes beyond believing in them or debunking them and to a fresh understanding of what they tell us about ourselves as individuals, as a culture, and as a species. In the 1960s, Halperin was a teenage UFOlogist, convinced that flying saucers were real and that it was his life's mission to solve their mystery. He would become a professor of religious studies, with traditions of heavenly journeys his specialty. With Intimate Alien, he looks back to explore what UFOs once meant to him as a boy growing up in a home haunted by death and what they still mean for millions, believers and deniers alike. From the prehistoric Balkans to the deserts of New Mexico, from the biblical visions of Ezekiel to modern abduction encounters, Intimate Alien traces the hidden story of the UFO. It's a human story from beginning to end, no less mysterious and fantastic for its earthliness. A collective cultural dream, UFOs transport us to the outer limits of that most alien yet intimate frontier, our own inner space.

Book excerpt: Earth: An Alien Enterprise focuses on unpublished or little-known contacts with aliens, the infiltration thereof, and Earth's top-secret liaison programmes. This fascinating new edition tells the story of contact between aliens and humans from all across the globe, dating back to 1932, including meetings with military personnel and American presidents such as Eisenhower and Kennedy. For the first time, a former member of MI6 reveals her conversation with Neil Armstrong at a NASA conference, when he confirmed that there were "other" spacecraft on the Moon when Apollo 11 landed in 1969. Further evidence included in this book are genuine photographs of aliens and their craft, NATO special forces shown film of a crashed alien craft and survivor, and, perhaps most sinister, injured aliens cared for by military personnel in the US and UK... Earth: An Alien Enterprise forces us to consider carefully the evidence and data that has stacked up over the years and to ask ourselves the perennial human question: are we alone in the universe?

Book The Myth and Mystery of UFOs

Download or read book The Myth and Mystery of UFOs written by Thomas E. Bullard and published by University Press of Kansas. This book was released on 2016-10-17 with total page 442 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When United Airlines workers reported a UFO at O'Hare Airport in November 2006, it was met with the typical denials and hush-up that usually accompany such sightings. But when a related story broke the record for hits at the Chicago Tribune's website, it was clear that such unexplained objects continued to occupy the minds of fascinated readers. Why, wonders Thomas Bullard, don't such persistent sightings command more urgent attention from scientists, scholars, and mainstream journalists? The answer, in part, lies in Bullard's wide-ranging magisterial survey of the mysterious, frustrating, and ever-evolving phenomenon that refuses to go away and our collective efforts to understand it. In his trailblazing book, Bullard views those efforts through the lens of mythmaking, discovering what UFO accounts tell us about ourselves, our beliefs, and the possibility of visitors from beyond. Bullard shows how ongoing grassroots interest in UFOs stems both from actual personal experiences and from a cultural mythology that defines such encounters as somehow "alien"-and how it views relentless official denial as a part of conspiracy to hide the truth. He also describes how UFOs have catalyzed the evolution of a new but highly fractured belief system that borrows heavily from the human past and mythic themes and which UFO witnesses and researchers use to make sense of such phenomena and our place in the cosmos. Bullard's book takes in the whole spectrum of speculations on alien visitations and abductions, magically advanced technologies, governmental conspiracies, varieties of religious salvation, apocalyptic fears, and other paranormal experiences. Along the way, Bullard investigates how UFOs have inspired books, movies, and television series; blurred the boundaries between science, science fiction, and religion; and crowded the Internet with websites and discussion groups. From the patches of this crazy quilt, he posits evidence that a genuine phenomenon seems to exist outside the myth. Enormously erudite and endlessly engaging, Bullard's study is a sky watcher's guide to the studies, stories, and debates that this elusive subject has inspired. It shows that, despite all the competing interests and errors clouding the subject, there is substance beneath the clutter, a genuinely mysterious phenomenon that deserves attention as more than a myth.

Book Artificial Neural Network based Optimized Design of Reinforced Concrete Structures

Download or read book Artificial Neural Network based Optimized Design of Reinforced Concrete Structures written by Won‐Kee Hong and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2023-01-11 with total page 598 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Artificial Neural Network-based Optimized Design of Reinforced Concrete Structures introduces AI-based Lagrange optimization techniques that can enable more rational engineering decisions for concrete structures while conforming to codes of practice. It shows how objective functions including cost, CO2 emissions, and structural weight of concrete structures are optimized either separately or simultaneously while satisfying constraining design conditions using an ANN-based Lagrange algorithm. Any design target can be adopted as an objective function. Many optimized design examples are verified by both conventional structural calculations and big datasets. Uniquely applies the new powerful tools of AI to concrete structural design and optimization Multi-objective functions of concrete structures optimized either separately or simultaneously Design requirements imposed by codes are automatically satisfied by constraining conditions Heavily illustrated in color with practical design examples The book suits undergraduate and graduate students who have an understanding of collegelevel calculus and will be especially beneficial to engineers and contractors who seek to optimize concrete structures.

Book AI Based Optimized Design of Structural Frames

Download or read book AI Based Optimized Design of Structural Frames written by Won‐Kee Hong and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2024-10-16 with total page 607 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book introduces an auto‐design‐based optimization for building frames using an artificial neural network (ANN)‐based Lagrange method and novel genetic algorithm (GA). The work of great mathematician Joseph‐Louis Lagrange and ANNs are merged to identify parameters that optimize structural frames of reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, and steel frames subject to one or more design constraints. New features for enhancing conventional GA are also demonstrated to optimize structural frames. New features for optimizing multiple design targets of the building frames are highlighted, while design requirements imposed by codes are automatically satisfied. Chapters provide readers with an understanding of how both ANN‐based and novel GA‐based structural optimization can be implemented in holistically optimizing designated design targets for building structural frames, guiding readers toward more rational designs that is consistent with American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) and American Concrete Institute (ACI) standards. ANN‐based holistic designs of multi‐story frames in general and reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, and steel frames in particular, are introduced. This book suits structural engineers, architects, and graduate students in the field of building frame designs and is heavily illustrated with color figures and tables.

Book Captured by Aliens

Download or read book Captured by Aliens written by Nigel Watson and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2020-05-22 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New Hampshire couple Betty and Barney Hill provided Americans with what is essentially the original alien abduction story. Since their story became public in the early 1960s, many thousands of Americans have likewise come forward with similar stories of traumatic experiences. Sometimes the abductee has little conscious recollection of these events, but through nightmares, dreams, flashbacks and hypnosis they eventually learn more. Sometimes the participants are bewildered. To get a better understanding of the opposing viewpoints of skeptic and believer, the Betty and Barney Hill case is used to examine the wider context of such encounters, their historical origins, media influences and the latest extraterrestrial, psychological, paranormal, conspiracy and sociological theories that surround them.
