Book The Truth about Socialism for Smart Kids

Download or read book The Truth about Socialism for Smart Kids written by Elle Solovino and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2018-09-04 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Truth About Socialism for Smart Kids is a beautifully illustrated children's book inspired by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn's The Gulag Archipelago and Stephen Hicks' Explaining Postmodernism. A recent poll by the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation showed that a majority of millennials would prefer to live in a socialist, communist or fascist nation rather than a capitalistic one. This phenomenon is nothing short of surprising since thinkers such as Steven Pinker have made a strong case for this era being the most prosperous and peaceful in human history. Perhaps the polled youth is victim of historical illiteracy regarding the destruction and misery caused since the Bolshevik Revolution. Or also it may be due to a recent study by Jonathan Haidt's Heterodox Academy showing that educators of liberal or outright radical leftist ideology have increased dramatically in the United States. In a 1978 commencement speech at Harvard, Solzhenitsyn himself said: "Liberalism was inevitably displaced by radicalism; radicalism had to surrender to socialism; and socialism could never resist communism. The communist regime in the East could stand and grow due to the enthusiastic support from an enormous number of Western intellectuals who felt a kinship and refused to see communism's crimes. And when they no longer could do so, they tried to justify them." Over 40 years have passed since that speech yet it sounds still applicable. Everyday we hear about worrying glimpses of radical leftist censorship under the guise of social justice or identity politics. And, worst of all, such news arise from schools, the places where viewpoint diversity and free thinking are supposed to be encouraged and flourish. The Truth About Socialism for Smart Kids is for the children of parents who wish the next generation not to be indoctrinated but, instead, given all the facts so they grow to be tolerant to dialogue and passionate about free thought and free speech.

It is addressed not so much to the active opponents of socialism as to the workers who are indifferent or who do not see in it a remedy for their wrongs. The chapters are headed: What socialism is and why it is; The virtuous grafters; Why socialists preach discontent; How the people may acquire the trusts; The "Private Property" bogey man; Socialism, the lone foe of war; Why Socialists oppose radical politicians; The truth about the coal question; Deathbeds and dividends; If not socialism -- what? "There are few writers, if any. whose wares come before the public, so gifted with the ability to explain things with clearness and vividity as is Mr. Benson." -N Y Times "The teller of the truth about socialism is incapable of telling the truth about the system he would displace. He bears false witness. imputes motives to those who differ with him. and is the sort of patriot who thinks that virtue is the monopoly of him and his party. The book seems to us ignorant and offensive." -N Y Times "On the whole it is the best propaganda book since Blatchford's 'Merrie England? which it somewhat resembles in style. while it has the advantage of being a native product and up to date." -Algernon Lee. "Mr. Benson's book, 'The truth about socialism, ' covers the same ground as Mr. Hillquit's. It is more picturesque and readable in style, as Mr. Benson is magazine writer even before socialist, and deals with the subject less methodically." -M. B. Sumner.

Book United States of Socialism

Download or read book United States of Socialism written by Dinesh D'Souza and published by Macmillan + ORM. This book was released on 2020-06-02 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The New York Times, USA Today, Publishers Weekly, and Wall Street Journal Bestseller For those who witnessed the global collapse of socialism, its resurrection in the twenty-first century comes as a surprise, even a shock. How can socialism work now when it has never worked before? In this pathbreaking book, bestselling author Dinesh D’Souza argues that the socialism advanced today by the likes of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Bernie Sanders, Ilhan Omar and Elizabeth Warren is very different from the socialism of Lenin, Mao and Castro. It is “identity socialism,” a marriage between classic socialism and identity politics. Today’s socialists claim to model themselves not on Mao’s Great Leap Forward or even Venezuelan socialism but rather on the “socialism that works” in Scandinavian countries like Norway and Sweden. This is the new face of socialism that D’Souza confronts and decisively refutes with his trademark incisiveness, wit and originality. He shows how socialism abandoned the working class and found new recruits by drawing on the resentments of race, gender and sexual orientation. He reveals how it uses the Venezuelan, not the Scandinavian, formula. D’Souza chillingly documents the full range of lawless, gangster, and authoritarian tendencies that they have adopted. United States of Socialism is an informative, provocative and thrilling exposé not merely of the ideas but also the tactics of the socialist Left. In making the moral case for entrepreneurs and the free market, the author portrays President Trump as the exemplar of capitalism and also the most effective political leader of the battle against socialism. He shows how we can help Trump defeat the socialist menace.

Book Was Jesus a Socialist

Download or read book Was Jesus a Socialist written by Lawrence W Reed and published by Open Road Media. This book was released on 2020-06-09 with total page 115 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Economist and historian Lawrence W. Reed has been hearing people say “Jesus was a socialist” for fifty years. And it has always bothered him. Now he is doing something about it. Reed demolishes the claim that Jesus was a socialist. Jesus called on earthly governments to redistribute wealth? Or centrally plan the economy? Or even impose a welfare state? Hardly. Point by point, Reed answers the claims of socialists and progressives who try to enlist Jesus in their causes. As he reveals, nothing in the New Testament supports their contentions. Was Jesus a Socialist? could not be more timely. Socialism has made a shocking comeback in America. Poll after poll shows that young Americans have a positive image of socialism. In fact, more than half say they would rather live in a socialist country than in a capitalist one. And as socialism has come back into vogue, more and more of its advocates have tried to convince us that Jesus was a socialist. This rhetoric has had an impact. According to a 2016 poll by the Barna Group, Americans think socialism aligns better with Jesus’s teachings than capitalism does. When respondents were asked which of that year’s presidential candidates aligned closest to Jesus’s teachings, a self-proclaimed “democratic socialist” came out on top. Sure enough, the same candidate earned more primary votes from under-thirty voters than did the eventual Democratic and Republican nominees combined. And in a 2019 survey, more than seventy percent of millennials said they were likely to vote for a socialist. Was Jesus a Socialist? expands on the immensely popular video of the same name that Reed recorded for Prager University in July 2019. That video has attracted more than four million views online. Ultimately, Reed shows the foolishness of trying to enlist Jesus in any political cause today. He writes: “While I don’t believe it is valid to claim that Jesus was a socialist, I also don’t think it is valid to argue that he was a capitalist. Neither was he a Republican or a Democrat. These are modern-day terms, and to apply any of them to Jesus is to limit him to but a fraction of who he was and what he taught.”

Federer and published by Amerisearch, Incorporated. This book was released on 2020-07-04 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: SOCIALISM: THE DREAM OF AN IDEAL SOCIETY? Is it a wonderful "utopia" or a totalitarian nightmare? Will everything be free or will deep-state bureaucrats decide who gets what? Did Plato, Thomas More, & Francis Bacon propose social ownership of property? Is there a difference between socialism and communism? Did Pilgrims attempt "a communistic plan of life"? What happened? How did the Pilgrims' covenant under God become the Age of Enlightenment's social contract with a distant God, become the French Revolution's social contract with no god, become Marxism's "the state is god"? "If the state gives rights, it can, and inevitably will, take away those rights"-Eisenhower. Was France's Reign of Terror a model for future violent socialist revolutions? The Bible talks about private property, yet Marx wrote: "The theory of the communists may be summed up in the single sentence: Abolition of private property." Coolidge wrote: "It does not follow that because something ought to be done, the national government ought to do it." What did socialism do to Russia, Romania, Poland, Hungary, China, North Korea, Cuba, Cambodia, and Venezuela? What are honor-shame cultures? What are the group dynamics which can manipulate individuals with peer-pressure to surrender their private views to fit in with a group. Who was Joseph Goebbels, who said: "Think of the press as a great keyboard on which the government can play." How did he control mob emotions? Learn about the political tactics of "deconstruction," "psychological projection," and "seizing the moral high ground." Is the form of government the problem or is the problem deeper - the selfishness inherent in the human heart? What is the only real solution? FIND THE ANSWERS TO THESE QUESTIONS AND MORE IN THIS EYE-OPENING BOOK!

Book Socialism The Failed Idea That Never Dies

Download or read book Socialism The Failed Idea That Never Dies written by Kristian Niemietz and published by London Publishing Partnership. This book was released on 2019-02-07 with total page 401 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Socialism is strangely impervious to refutation by real-world experience. Over the past hundred years, there have been more than two dozen attempts to build a socialist society, from the Soviet Union to Maoist China to Venezuela. All of them have ended in varying degrees of failure. But, according to socialism’s adherents, that is only because none of these experiments were “real socialism”. This book documents the history of this, by now, standard response. It shows how the claim of fake socialism is only ever made after the event. As long as a socialist project is in its prime, almost nobody claims that it is not real socialism. On the contrary, virtually every socialist project in history has gone through a honeymoon period, during which it was enthusiastically praised by prominent Western intellectuals. It was only when their failures became too obvious to deny that they got retroactively reclassified as “not real socialism”.
