In Book 3, Puss is bewitched, rescues Hansel and Gretel, goes to sea in a pea-green boat, eats pies with Simple Simon, and sweeps cobwebs from the sky. In 43 adventures, Puss meets Robin Hood, Neptune, the Golden Goose, and Old Mother Hubbard, among many other characters. At the end of the book, he enters a little door in a stump and finds treasure. The original illustrations are included in the stories. They can be colored with colored pencils or crayons. The Puss in Boots, Jr books are lovely reminders that simple words can awaken the imaginations of children and adults alike, just as they did one hundred years ago. The original stories have been very slightly edited to change archaic words and references. Reading level is second grade but much younger children will enjoy hearing the stories read to them.

Tom Thumb, Jack (who planted the beanstalk), and others tell stories about their adventures. The hen that laid the golden eggs told her side of the story. Puss sat with the Fairy Godmother while Cinderella went to the ball. Mother Goose and her Gander stopped in on their way home, and give Puss, Jr. a ride since her house is on the way to the Castle. They took side trips to visit the Man in the Moon, and other familiar friends. Alas, by the end of the adventures in this book Puss, Jr. has not yet found his father, but perhaps they will meet in the next book.
