Book excerpt: When pastors and evangelists preach, they try to convince you to change your lifestyle now. This is not their fault. They know that they have to do this. They have to get you close to God because time could be short. That is not equipping and preparing. Equipping and preparing means giving you the tools of the trade. That is living Gods Word and how to plan to do this. The Word teaches that pastors are to equip the servants. All that time convincing and not equipping is destroying Gods world. Jesus equipped and encouraged Gods children and changed the world. What is our excuse? We need to divert all our mental and physical abilities to become like Jesus and begin to feel these changes in our bodies. We have to stop becoming people of behaviors. Over many generations, we have reacted to what we have seen and heard and to the pleasures the world has given us. We dont look and listen to God anymore, because he doesnt give us what we want when we want it. When the world sees this, it gives us what we want and we take it. We are not patient enough! God gives us what we need. As long as the world dangles that carrot in front of our faces, we will continue to pull that heavy, burdensome load of sin and pain. It is only by seeing and hearing what God does in this world to bless his children that will show us how his grace and greatness will tower above our fears.

Book The Tolerance Trap

Download or read book The Tolerance Trap written by Suzanna Danuta Walters and published by NYU Press. This book was released on 2014 with total page 345 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Froma Glee ato gay marriage, from lesbian senators to out gay Marines, we have undoubtedly experienced a seismic shift in attitudes about gays in American politics and culture. Our reigning national story is that a new era of rainbow acceptance is at hand. But dig a bit deeper, and this seemingly brave new gay world is disappointing. For all of the undeniable changes, the plea for tolerance has sabotaged the full integration of gays into American life. Same-sex marriage is unrecognized and unpopular in the vast majority of states, hate crimes proliferate, and even in the much vaunted gay friendly world of Hollywood and celebrity culture, precious few stars are openly gay. Ina The Tolerance Trap, Suzanna Walters takes on received wisdom about gay identities and gay rights, arguing that we are not almost there, but on the contrary have settled for a watered-down goal of tolerance and acceptance rather than a robust claim to full civil rights. After all, wea tolerate aunpleasant realities: medicine with strong side effects, a long commute, an annoying relative. Drawing on a vast array of sources and sharing her own personal journey, Walters shows how the low bar of tolerance demeans rather than ennobles both gays and straights alike. Her fascinating examination covers the gains in political inclusion and the persistence of anti-gay laws, the easy-out sexual freedom of queer youth and the suicides and murders of those in decidedly intolerant environments. She challenges both born that way storylines that root civil rights in biology, and god made me that way arguments that similarly situate sexuality as innate and impervious to decisions we make to shape it. A sharp and provocative cultural critique, this book deftly argues that a too-soon declaration of victory short-circuits full equality and deprives us all of the transformative possibilities of full integration.Tolerance is not the end goal, but a dead end. Ina The Tolerance Trap, Walters presents a complicated snapshot of a world-shifting moment in American historyOCoone that is both a wake-up call and a call to arms for anyone seeking true equality."

Download or read book My Journey written by Percy Jones and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2019-01-29 with total page 265 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I want to thank God and the Lord Jesus Christ for using me to write such a great story. I was in the music business for twenty-six years and had only minor success and I retired from the business with the satisfaction that I gave it my best effort, but also a what if I would have made it sigh in my heart. I loved God and served him for many years, but nothing could prepare a person for something like this. The table cracking during the writing sessions reminded me of a teacher hitting the desk with a ruler to get the class to be quiet. Make no mistake about it the good Lord loved for me to sing to him the different gospel songs that I mentioned in the book and even some of my own songs from time to time but playing around and joking were not taken kindly of when it was time to go to work. I was disobedient one time during the process and I felt a burning pain in my foot after one of the writing sessions that I talked about in the God will not be mocked chapter of the book. The bottom line is we really are made in the image of God and we were intended to dwell with him on a daily basis. My point is that the veil was gone. That's how close we are to God. We think of God in some faraway place and he is, but he is also right beside us and he really wants to commune with us as a Savior who understands what we go through and feel. I want to thank everyone that helped me along the way especially my fiancée, Diamond. I also want to acknowledge my roots from southern Virginia to my current home in Fort Washington, MD. The events in my journey were incredible, but the main point was what my Savior Jesus Christ told me on the day he blessed me to have his spirit, "Tell my children to get right. I am coming back soon." Look at the events in the world now. Hey children of God, get right.

Book excerpt: There are sincere worshippers of Christ who are quite ignorant of how to deal with difficult passages in the Bible that might be used by God’s enemies to paint a false picture of Him. Many remain confused as to how to deal with passages that seem to go against what they know by their experience is a loving God. I believe that these daily devotions can assist believers in this endeavor. When one meditates daily on the truth of God’s character then they will not be easily swayed by those who speak against it. They will see that there are better ways to understand the passages often presented by those who choose to denigrate God’s character.

Book The Passion of the Ruby Cat On Life

Download or read book The Passion of the Ruby Cat On Life written by Maril Ozanne Garrison and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2022-07-11 with total page 490 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Poetry is powerful and necessary! Blake has said, “In sum, the poet is someone that humans cannot do without.” Poetry is beauty, practicality, grace, structure, gentleness and power that gives us peace, simplicity and wisdom. Poetry does nothing to earn its keep, no more than a singing bird. Yet it defines our roles, levels our road, empowers our spirits, and fills our hearts with courage. Mrs. Garrison has loved, taught and defined poetry over the years as she has studied and read many of the former poets, soaking up their styles and commenting on their writing. Poetry is like music without music. Easy to memorize, and easy to write if you pay attention to the masters, especially Poe. Poetry is a short, condensed mode of writing; it can be beautiful, loud, soft, invigorating, soul-filled and vibrant. RUBY CAT (The Passion of the Ruby Cat) is a collection of poems (rubaiyat) on life, plus a collection of quatrains and haikus. It is the third poetry book after the first two (THE PASSION OF POETRY and PASSION LAUGHS OUTLOUD!) that are all general poetry. There is a glossary in the end of each of these books giving definitions of not often used words to help the reader quickly enjoy every whimsical glance and nod.

Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666. This book explores the knowledge of the place of the War of Armageddon; the actors who will be involved, with the hidden identities of the beast and the false prophet revealed; and the records of the results of every battlefield of the war. In these pages, the final outcome of the war and the consequences for all sides are laid bare. Through this knowledge, individuals can avoid being deceived into receiving the mark of the beast or worshiping its image. For this image bestows the spirit of demons-a spirit destined for hellfire by God Almighty. Book excerpt: Originally published in 1956, this book provides a clear, scholarly, introduction to the main tenets of Zoroastrian dualism presented largely in the words of the Zoroastrian texts themselves. The book demonstrates the essential reasonableness of Zoroastrian dualism, which is the dualism of a good and an evil spirit, and to show what the means in everyday life and how it is philosophically justified. There are chapters on cosmology, the relation of man to God, the nature of religion, ethics, sacraments and sacrifice, the soul’s fate at death and eschatology.
