Download or read book Transport Correlation and Structural Defects written by Hellmut Fritzsche and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1990 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Disordered materials offer new and unexpected insights into the structure of solids and the ways charge carriers move and interact with their environment. The first part of this review volume presents new results and ideas in the subject dealing with the local bonding structure in amorphous and vitreous semiconductors. These include the local bonding structure in chalcogenide glasses containing metal atoms, the interaction of local vibrational modes with their local bonding environment, and new models for the H-bonding configurations. The second part is devoted to questions of low temperature hopping transport and recombination of photocarriers in disordered semiconductors as a function of frequency and at high electric fields. The reviews by leading experts offer different insights and attempt to address problems from the various angles.

Book Properties and Applications of Amorphous Materials

Download or read book Properties and Applications of Amorphous Materials written by M.F. Thorpe and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 451 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of this NATO ASI has been to present an up-to-date overview of current areas of interest in amorphous materials, with particular emphasis on electronic properties and device applications. In order to limit the material to a manageable amount, the meeting was concerned almost exclusively with semiconducting materials. This volume should be regarded as a follow-on to the NATO ASI held in Sozopol, Bulgaria in 1996 and published as "Amorphous Insulators and Semiconductors" edited by M.F. Thorpe and M.1. Mitkova (Kluwer Academic Publishers, NATO ASI series, 3 High Technology - Vol. 23). The lectures and seminars fill the gap between graduate courses and research seminars. The lecturers and seminar speakers were chosen as experts in their respective areas, and the lectures and seminars that were given are presented in this volume. During the first week of the meeting, an emphasis was placed on introductory lectures while the second week focused more on research seminars. There were two very good poster sessions that generated a lot of discussion, but these are not reproduced in this volume as the editors wanted to have only larger contributions to make the proceedings more coherent.

Book Thermoelectric Bi2Te3 Nanomaterials

Download or read book Thermoelectric Bi2Te3 Nanomaterials written by Oliver Eibl and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2015-04-21 with total page 317 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Edited by the initiators of a priority research program funded by the German Science Foundation and written by an international team of key players, this is the first book to provide an overview of nanostructured thermoelectric materials -- putting the new developments into perspective alongside conventional thermoelectrics. As such, it reviews the current state of research on thermoelectric Bi2Te3 nanomaterials, covering advanced methods of materials synthesis, characterization of materials structures and thermoelectric properties, as well as advances in the theory and modeling of transport properties. Nanomaterials-based thermoelectric devices are also discussed with respect to their properties, their suitability for different energy generation applications, and in light of their commercialization potential. An outlook on the chances, challenges and future directions of research rounds off the book, giving a straightforward account of the fundamental and technical problems - plus ways to overcome them.

Book High Performance Carbon Based Optoelectronic Nanodevices

Download or read book High Performance Carbon Based Optoelectronic Nanodevices written by Yanjie Su and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-09-15 with total page 199 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on the photoelectric nanodevices based on carbon nanostructures, such as carbon nanotubes, graphene and related heterojunctions. The synthesis of carbon nanostructures and device fabrication are simply given. The interface charge transfer and the performance enhancement in the photodetectors and solar cells are comprehensively introduced. Importantly, carbon allotropes behave as high-mobility conductors or bandgap-tunable semiconductors depending on the atomic arrangements, the direct motivation is to fabricate all-carbon nanodevices using these carbon nanomaterials as building blocks. The photoelectric nanodevices based on all-carbon nanostructures have increasingly attracted attention in the future. The book offers a valuable reference guide to carbon-based photoelectric devices for researchers and graduate school students in the field. It will also benefit all researchers who investigate photoelectric nanodevices and photoelectric conversion with relevant frontier theories and concepts.

Book Advances in Solar Energy

Download or read book Advances in Solar Energy written by Karl W. Böer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 467 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advances in Solar Energy, now in its fifth year, is continuing with topics of the main field of solar energy conversion. However, because of the increasing interest in a solar systems approach, we have decided to include the article of Bockris et al., on Hydrogen Technology, which offers interesting aspects of transport and storage of solar energy, as well as the potential for a versatile fuel. The other articles cover the field of photovoltaics, solar energy-related mate rials, wind conversion, solar retrofitting of existing buildings, and new architectural designs in harmony with climate and the comfort of all occupants. These articles give a critical assessment of the present state of the art, and provide a long list of literature for further in-depth studies. I greatly appreciate the assistance of the Editors and referees of the articles for their many constructive suggestions. My special thanks go to Ms. Martha Hobbs for her dedicated work in typesetting the manuscript in the University of Delaware's Publication Office, and to the University of Delaware for their continued support. The accommodating help from Plenum Press and its production staff deserves our grateful acknowledgement.
