This book was released on 2016-01-01 with total page 148 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First Notice to Readers This book was written for anyone who wants to know about the natural process of dying, especially the person who does not have medical training but is caring for someone, has a family member or friend being cared for, or is yourself the person declining in health and wanting to know what to expect as the body shuts down. This book will provide the reader with foreknowledge on what to look for with regard to signs and symptoms that usually occur toward the end of a person's lifecycle on this earth. Transitional Journey will give insight and helpful tips on family dynamics (the craziness) that sometimes occur and create division within the family when someone in declining health is being cared for. As a person declines in health, sometimes emotions get in the way of seeing what is really happening before your very eyes. Or maybe you see it but are not ready to accept it. Either way, recognizing the truth as it is and making the necessary adjustments as the person declines will add quality time to the time they have remaining here in this life and help facilitate closure for everyone. You are not your body. As the body becomes weaker on a person's deathbed and eventually dies, the spirit and soul will exit the body and are still alive. Ecclesiastes 12:7 states, "Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return to God who gave it" (NKJV). Rev 6:9-11 is proof that the soul is still alive after death. For example, if the cause of death is suicide or murder, the body/flesh has died but not the person's spirit or soul. The disease process, old age, accidents, birth defects, suicide or murder that cause the body/flesh to die do not cause the spirit and soul to die. When a person takes his/her last breath here on earth, they are simply exiting their body to leave this earth and to enter the spirit world. Only the body (the flesh) dies and remains here on earth; the spirit and soul will live forever. We get to choose where that will be-heaven or hell. Regardless of what the catalysis to the death of the body is, each person's physical decline is unique because we all are different, and no two medical histories or incidents are exactly the same. This book can give the reader ideas and helpful tips to consider while caring for someone who is transitioning toward the end of his/her life on earth; it does not claim to have all the answers. The only person who has all the answers to everything is God.

Book Life Is in the Transitions

Download or read book Life Is in the Transitions written by Bruce Feiler and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2020-07-14 with total page 369 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A New York Times bestseller! A pioneering and timely study of how to navigate life's biggest transitions with meaning, purpose, and skill Bruce Feiler, author of the New York Times bestsellers The Secrets of Happy Families and Council of Dads, has long explored the stories that give our lives meaning. Galvanized by a personal crisis, he spent the last few years crisscrossing the country, collecting hundreds of life stories in all fifty states from Americans who’d been through major life changes—from losing jobs to losing loved ones; from changing careers to changing relationships; from getting sober to getting healthy to simply looking for a fresh start. He then spent a year coding these stories, identifying patterns and takeaways that can help all of us survive and thrive in times of change. What Feiler discovered was a world in which transitions are becoming more plentiful and mastering the skills to manage them is more urgent for all of us. The idea that we’ll have one job, one relationship, one source of happiness is hopelessly outdated. We all feel unnerved by this upheaval. We’re concerned that our lives are not what we expected, that we’ve veered off course, living life out of order. But we’re not alone. Life Is in the Transitions introduces the fresh, illuminating vision of the nonlinear life, in which each of us faces dozens of disruptors. One in ten of those becomes what Feiler calls a lifequake, a massive change that leads to a life transition. The average length of these transitions is five years. The upshot: We all spend half our lives in this unsettled state. You or someone you know is going through one now. The most exciting thing Feiler identified is a powerful new tool kit for navigating these pivotal times. Drawing on his extraordinary trove of insights, he lays out specific strategies each of us can use to reimagine and rebuild our lives, often stronger than before. From a master storyteller with an essential message, Life Is in the Transitions can move readers of any age to think deeply about times of change and how to transform them into periods of creativity and growth.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: More students are enrolling in college than ever before in U.S. history. Yet, many never graduate. In The Journey Before Us, Laura Nichols examines why this is by sharing the experiences of aspiring first-generation college students as they move from middle-school to young adulthood. By following the educational trajectories and transitions of Latinx, mainly second-generation immigrant students and analyzing national data, Nichols explores the different paths that students take and the factors that make a difference. The interconnected role of schools, neighborhoods, policy, employment, advocates, identity, social class, and family reveal what must change to address the “college completion crisis.” Appropriate for anyone wanting to understand their own educational journey as well as students, teachers, counselors, school administrators, scholars, and policymakers, The Journey Before Us outlines what is needed so that education can once again be a means of social mobility for those who would be the first in their families to graduate from college.

Book In God We Trust

Download or read book In God We Trust written by Lewis D. Solomon and published by Lexington Books. This book was released on 2003 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This pioneering book charts how President George W. Bush's "compassionate conservatism" creates a new path for American Social Policy. There is a growing interest in testing the proposition that faith-based organizations (FBOs) could do even greater good, especially if government supports an expanded role. The organizations represent a potentially valuable, but controversial, resource because they offer to fight a very different war against America's social ills. This work offers three conclusions. First, FBOs are effective in dealing with chronic social problems because they spark personal transformation. Second, financing them through the Tax Code or vouchers is preferable to direct federal funding. The fear that public funding means government take-over of religion serves as perhaps the greatest impediment to a more expansive role for FBOs. Third, although predicting the U.S. Supreme Court's resolution of church-state issues is fraught with difficulties, the emerging "equal treatment" of religion by the High Court suggests a more permissive attitude toward the federal funding of religous charities. The tax and voucher alternatives seem certain to pass constitutional muster. In God We Trust? is among the first works to assess President Bush's policy efforts to meet America's social ills by turning more tasks over to FBOs. In addition to demonstrating the constitutionality of the federal efforts to fund FBOs, the book analytically summarizes the existing empirical evidence dealing with the effectiveness of faith-based organizations.

Download or read book Transitions written by P.H. Deese and published by Elm Hill. This book was released on 2018-10-30 with total page 106 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The “Transitions” Bible study is designed to realign your core beliefs with God’s actual truth, as revealed in His word. So often, we all try to understand God’s promises in a familiar but broken way as we face seasonal changes and challenges throughout our lives. This can lead to discouragement, frustration, and fear. I know because it is out of that fire in my life that this study was born. It is my prayer that this study will create a shift in your thinking so that you will experience God’s truth in a new and fresh way. We all face seasonal transitions throughout our lives. How we handle those changes is the refining fire that God uses to craft us into the person He intends us to be. Because there are so many pitfalls throughout this process, it is easy to lose sight of what God is doing, falter in our trust, and end up in a ditch. There is a strong desire to “lean on our own understanding” when, in truth, our understanding is limited to what we have learned and experienced. In this study, you will identify your core beliefs and then compare them to what God tells you in His word. It is my hope and prayer that you will come to understand God’s truth and promises in a fresh, new and encouraging way.

Book The Interdependent Organization

Download or read book The Interdependent Organization written by Rexford H. Draman and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-09-08 with total page 187 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Interdependent Organization provides its readers with a template for the development of an individualized transition plan to guide their journey toward becoming more organizationally sustainable. We as humans tend to rely on our current set of assumptions when we evaluate our actions and their potential impact on the future. With today’s ever-increasing rate of change in technology, our access to information, and cultural interactions (interdependence) around the world, the reliance on old ways of thinking (linear) will not allow us to effectively transition into the systems-based world of tomorrow. The Interdependent Organization presents a deeper understanding of the financial, operational, and cultural crossroads we are facing as a planet, and introduces a systems-based transitional path that individuals, organizations, and societies can draw on to move towards a more holistic and sustainable future. The book provides readers with the necessary understanding and insight into systems, systems-thinking, and the use of systems-based business tools to guide the sustainability journey while producing a positive impact to the organization’s bottom-line, its employee engagement, and its stakeholders’ expectations in each of the journey's three stages. The journey begins with the adoption of simple yet powerful systems-based tools for managing the organization’s operations and projects. These proven tools provide increased productivity with a proven bottom-line improvement that exceeds 30%. This introduction to systems-based tools and thinking provides the organization with the time to become more familiar with this new way of thinking and making business decisions before they expand their exposure to broader, more complex systems-based and sustainable practices. The second stage of this journey is focused on introducing new tools and practices to insure a consistent set of measures are used across the organization. The third and final stage focuses on aligning the organization’s people-management practices.
