Notre travail a porté plus précisément sur le traitement des images ultrasonores sur lesquelles se base l’expert medical pour le contrôle à distance du robot porteur de la sonde échographique positionné sur le patient. Une étude des méthodes actuelles de segmentation d’image ainsi que sur les méthodes permettant d’évaluer un résultat de segmentation, nous conforte dans l’idée d’une non universalité des méthodes de segmentation. La difficulté de partitionner une image ultrasonore en composantes illustre cette affirmation. Nous proposons donc, via l’utilisation combinée d’approches floue et fractale, une caractérisation des divers objets présents au sein de l’image sans réelle segmentation. De plus, le lien démontré entre ces deux approches nous permet de prendre en compte, dans le calcul de la complexité des divers objets, le bruit initialement présent au sein de l’image ultrasonore. Ces résultats obtenus d’un point de vue théorique sont alors appliqués à différents domaines tels que la segmentation ou la compression d’images.

Si cette modalité dispose de nombreux avantages comme son innocuité, sa facilité d'utilisation et son faible coût, elle souffre cependant d'une résolution spatiale limitée quand on la compare à d'autres modalités comme l'imagerie par résonance magnétique. L'amélioration de la résolution des images ultrasonores est un défi de taille et de très nombreux travaux ont depuis longtemps exploré des approches instrumentales portant sur l'optimisation du dispositif d'acquisition. L'imagerie échographique haute résolution permet ainsi d'atteindre cet objectif à l'aide de sondes particulières mais se trouve aujourd'hui confrontée à des limitations d'ordre physique et technologique. L'objet de cette thèse est d'adopter une stratégie de post-traitement afin de contourner ces contraintes inhérentes aux approches instrumentales. Dans ce contexte, nous présentons deux approches pour l'amélioration de la résolution des images ultrasonores, selon que les données disponibles prennent la forme d'une séquence d'images ou d'une image unique. Dans le premier cas, l'adaptation d'une technique d'estimation du mouvement originellement proposée pour l'élastographie nous permet d'établir un cadre de reconstruction haute résolution efficace dédié à la modalité qui nous intéresse. Cette approche est évaluée à l'aide d'une simulation réaliste d'images ultrasonores avant d'être appliquée à des données in vivo. Nous proposons ensuite, dans le cadre du traitement d'une seule image, deux méthodes de déconvolution rapide pour l'amélioration de la résolution. Ces approches prennent en compte, suivant leur disponibilité, certaines informations a priori sur les conditions d'acquisition comme la réponse impulsionnelle spatiale du système. Les résultats sont caractérisés dans un premier temps à l'aide de données synthétiques et sont ensuite validés sur des images in vivo

Book excerpt: L'imagerie médicale échographique présente plusieurs avantages comme son innocuité, sa facilité d'emploi, la diversité des organes concernés et le faible coût de ce mode d'imagerie. Cependant les images obtenues par échographique souffrent d'une résolution plutôt faible comparées à celle que l'on peut obtenir avec un appareil d'IRM ou en utilisant des rayons X. Le défi majeur de l'échographie médicale est donc de réussir à produire des images avec une résolution beaucoup plus fine, à fréquence nominale fixe.Des travaux ont été entrepris dans ce sens depuis longtemps. Plusieurs pistes ont été explorées. La majorité des travaux effectués jusqu'à présent a consisté à travailler sur l'échographe et particulièrement sur les sondes ultrasonores, avec principalement pour objectif d'augmenter la fréquence des ultrasons utilisés. Cette approche a conduit à l'existence de l'échographie haute résolution, avec cependant une limite importante qui est celle de la profondeur d'exploration.Une autre approche consiste à traiter numériquement des images échographiques classiques pour améliorer leur résolution. Cette méthode a plusieurs avantages, elle permet notamment de contourner la difficulté causée par la réduction de profondeur de champ liée à l'augmentation de la fréquence ultrasonore.Dans cette thèse, nous présentons une méthode permettant d'améliorer la résolution des images échographiques. Le travail de thèse à consister à adapter cette méthode à l'imagerie échographique et à proposer une estimation de la résolution théorique maximale atteinte par cette méthode en fonction de paramètres de l'image dont le SNR, et la largeur de bande de la PSF. Nous avons également proposé une méthode de superrésolution adaptée aux ultrasons. Par son apport sur l'amélioration théorique de la superrésolution et par l'adaptation au cas particulier de l'imagerie ultrasonore, ce travail de thèse ouvre des perspectives sur l'amélioration de la résolution des images échographiques par traitement du signal et de l'image.
