Book Traffic Sign Recognition Systems

Download or read book Traffic Sign Recognition Systems written by Sergio Escalera and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-09-22 with total page 101 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work presents a full generic approach to the detection and recognition of traffic signs. The approach is based on the latest computer vision methods for object detection, and on powerful methods for multiclass classification. The challenge was to robustly detect a set of different sign classes in real time, and to classify each detected sign into a large, extensible set of classes. To address this challenge, several state-of-the-art methods were developed that can be used for different recognition problems. Following an introduction to the problems of traffic sign detection and categorization, the text focuses on the problem of detection, and presents recent developments in this field. The text then surveys a specific methodology for the problem of traffic sign categorization – Error-Correcting Output Codes – and presents several algorithms, performing experimental validation on a mobile mapping application. The work ends with a discussion on future research and continuing challenges.

Book Traffic Sign Recognition

    Book Details:
  • Author : Hasan Fleyeh
  • Publisher : LAP Lambert Academic Publishing
  • Release : 2009-06-19
  • ISBN : 9783838303598
  • Pages : 264 pages

Download or read book Traffic Sign Recognition written by Hasan Fleyeh and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2009-06-19 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Road and traffic sign recognition is one of the important fields in the Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS). This is due to the importance of the road signs and traffic signals in daily life. They define a visual language that can be interpreted by the drivers. They represent the current traffic situation on the road, show the danger and difficulties around the drivers, give warnings to them, and help them with their navigation by providing useful information that makes the driving safe and convenient. The main goal of automatic traffic sign recognition is to extract traffic signs from images of complex scenes under uncontrollable illumination. This book gives a description of the way to extract the traffic signs from the images taken for the roads.

Book Autonomous Traffic Sign Detection and Recognition Using Deep Learning

Download or read book Autonomous Traffic Sign Detection and Recognition Using Deep Learning written by Rudri Oza and published by . This book was released on 2021 with total page 34 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Advanced Driver Assistance System includes traffic sign identification and recognition. Traffic signs warn drivers of traffic laws, road conditions, and route directions, assisting them in driving more efficiently and safely. Traffic Sign Recognition is a technique for regulating traffic signals, warning drivers, and commanding or prohibiting specific acts. A quick real-time and reliable automated traffic sign detection and recognition system can assist and relieve the driver, improving driving safety and comfort significantly. For autonomous intelligent driving vehicles or driver assistance systems, automatic identification of traffic signals is also important. The aim of this study is to use Neural Networks to identify traffic sign patterns. Several image processing methods are used to pre-process the images. Then, to understand traffic sign patterns, Neural Networks stages are performed. To find the best network architecture, the system is trained and validated. The results of the experiments show that traffic sign patterns with complex backgrounds can be classified very accurately.

Book Traffic Sign Detection and Recognition System for Intelligent Vehicles

Download or read book Traffic Sign Detection and Recognition System for Intelligent Vehicles written by Jingwen Feng and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Road traffic signs provide instructions, warning information, to regulate driver behavior. In addition, these signs provide a reliable guarantee for safe and convenient driving. The Traffic Sign Detection and Recognition (TSDR) system is one of the primary applications for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). TSDR has obtained a great deal of attention over the recent years. But, it is still a challenging field of image processing. In this thesis, we first created our own dataset for North American Traffic Signs, which is still being updated. We then decided to choose Histogram Orientation Gradients (HOG) and Support Vector Machines (SVMs) to build our system after comparing them with some other techniques. For better results, we tested different HOG parameters to find the best combination. After this, we developed a TSDR system using HOG, SVM and our new color information extraction algorithm. To reduce time-consumption, we used the Maximally Stable Extremal Region (MSER) to replace the HOG and SVM detection stage. In addition, we developed a new approach based on Global Positioning System (GPS) information other than image processing. At last, we tested these three systems; the results show that all of them can recognize traffic signs with a good accuracy rate. The MSER based system is faster than the one using only HOG and SVM; and, the GPS based system is even faster than the MSER based system.
