Book The Railway Track and Its Long Term Behaviour

Download or read book The Railway Track and Its Long Term Behaviour written by Konstantinos Tzanakakis and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-01-26 with total page 396 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A proper quality of a track and other infrastructure objects represents a basic requirement for train safety and punctuality. Most of the physical systems and their components deteriorate over time. This affects performance and may lead to failures. Albert Einstein said, “You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better than anyone else.” Only if we understand how the whole system works, taking into account its imperfections and how they influence its quality and performance will we be able to learn the rules of the game and “play better.” The book provides the readers with the necessary functional knowledge of track behaviour and comprehensively covers the function of the various track components, their interaction as elements of the track system, as well as the interaction of the track with railway vehicles. By presenting important tools for a deep understanding of track-behaviour this book aims to be a reference guide for infrastructure managers and to help them to find ways improving track quality for optimum long-term behaviour.

Book Principles of Railway Location and Design

Download or read book Principles of Railway Location and Design written by Sirong Yi and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2017-10-25 with total page 648 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Principles of Railway Location and Design examines classification and classing methods of railway networks and expresses theories and methods of railway route selection and design. Railway networks represent modal transfer, which significantly alleviates traffic congestion and pollution The book introduces capacity enhancing methods for existing railways and implementation plans and technical conditions for improving existing passenger railways, building new high speed railways and developing heavy haul railways. The book covers ten areas of unfavorable geological conditions including slide areas, debris flow areas and earthquake areas. Practical solutions with detailed presentations have been provided. This valuable reference book summarizes and extracts the high speed railway route selection design. The book covers basic principles and methods by referring to research data of high speed railway technology in China and other countries, as well as engineering practice data. - Provides classification and classing methods of railway networks, integrated with principles and methods of railway route selection and design - Describes enhancing methods for existing railways, and an implementation plan for existing passenger railways, new high speed railways and heavy haul railways - Presents route selection principles and methods for regions with bad geological conditions, including landslide, debris flow and earthquake

Book Passenger Train Emergency Preparedness Us Federal Railroad Administration Regulation Fra 2018 Edition

Download or read book Passenger Train Emergency Preparedness Us Federal Railroad Administration Regulation Fra 2018 Edition written by The Law The Law Library and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2018-09-21 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Passenger Train Emergency Preparedness (US Federal Railroad Administration Regulation) (FRA) (2018 Edition) The Law Library presents the complete text of the Passenger Train Emergency Preparedness (US Federal Railroad Administration Regulation) (FRA) (2018 Edition). Updated as of May 29, 2018 FRA is amending its existing regulation entitled Passenger Train Emergency Preparedness by revising or clarifying various provisions. The final rule clarifies that railroad personnel who communicate or coordinate with first responders during emergency situations must receive certain initial and periodic training and be subject to operational tests and inspections related to the railroad's emergency preparedness plan. The final rule also clarifies that railroads must develop procedures in their emergency preparedness plans that specifically address the safety of passengers with disabilities during actual and simulated emergency situations, such as during train evacuations. The rule also limits the need for FRA to formally approve certain purely administrative changes to approved emergency preparedness plans. In addition, the final rule requires that operational tests and inspections be conducted in accordance with a program that meets certain minimum requirements. Finally, the rule removes as unnecessary the provision discussing the preemptive effect of the regulations. This book contains: - The complete text of the Passenger Train Emergency Preparedness (US Federal Railroad Administration Regulation) (FRA) (2018 Edition) - A table of contents with the page number of each section

The first chapter is devoted to the prediction of railways development in the nearest future. The second chapter discusses safety and security problems in general, precisely from the system point of view. In the third chapter, both the general approach and a particular case study of a critical incident with regard to railway safety are presented. In the fourth chapter, the question of railway infrastructure studies is presented, which is devoted to track superstructure. In the fifth chapter, the modern system for the technical condition monitoring of railway tracks is discussed. The compact on-board sensing device is presented. The last chapter focuses on modeling railway vehicle dynamics using numerical simulation, where the dynamical models are exploited.

Book Railway Maintenance Equipment

Download or read book Railway Maintenance Equipment written by Brian Solomon and published by . This book was released on with total page 134 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Railroad tracks take quite a beating, with countless tons of cold steel and freight rumbling over them day and night, wearing down rails and vibrating ties loose from their ballasts. This book reveals the special machinery railroads use to maintain and mend tracks and other property, as well as how the machines were developed and how they work. Each chapter tackles a different piece of maintenance equipment like tie pullers, spike drivers and rail grinders. Photos illustrate the machines in action, while detail shots depict the "business end" of each. This one-of-a-kind title is perfect for railfans and modelers.
