Book Tracing Boards of the Three Degrees in Craft Freemasonry Explained Second Edition

Download or read book Tracing Boards of the Three Degrees in Craft Freemasonry Explained Second Edition written by Julian Rees and published by Theschoolbook.com. This book was released on 2019-04-15 with total page 122 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although most Freemasons will be familiar with the Tracing Boards - painted or engraved illustrations developed in the early years of Freemasonry which are used in Lodges to illustrate Masonic symbols and allegories during degree ceremonies and lectures - little has been published on them. The Tracing Boards are an essential part of the three Craft Degrees, assisting the Freemason in his quest to decode and interpret those allegories. There is no publication which adequately explains the Tracing Boards, their use and meaning of their symbolism, and Tracing Boards of the Three Degrees in Craft Freemasonry Explained fills that gap. The first three chapters give a detailed method of understanding and revealing the import of the three craft boards, based on those used in the three degrees by the Emulation Lodge of Improvement, known as the Harris Boards, which contain the elements of most of the Tracing Boards used in Lodges throughout England. The fourth chapter gives a brief overview of the history and the development of Tracing Boards in England, with some fascinating illustrations of long-forgotten boards. In the fifth chapter the author draws in many Tracing Boards and Lodge Cloths from other countries, particularly from the USA, and from other Masonic jurisdictions, bringing the art-form right up to the 21st century. This book is richly illustrated and features boards never before seen outside museums. Julian Rees was for some years on the Precepting Committee of the Emulation Lodge of Improvement in London. He has been a regular contributor to the quarterly magazine Freemasonry Today since its founding in 1997. In 2003, he joined the editorial team as deputy and news editor, and in the same year delivered the prestigious Wendel K. Walker Memorial Lecture in New York entitled Through Ritual to Enlightenment. He was one of the founding members of The Cornerstone Society, serving as Secretary for a number of years, and has lectured extensively to lodges in this country and abroad. Rees has been honoured by the Institut Maçonnique de France with the Ordre Maçonnique de Lafayette. He is now a member of the International Order of Freemasonry Le Droit Humain in England. He is the author of Making Light - A Handbook for Freemasons, The Stairway of Freemasonry, Ornaments Furniture and Jewels and So You Want To Be A Freemason?

Book excerpt: Who were Tubalcain, Aholiab and Zabud and what is their significance for the Freemason? There is a general interest in the rituals of Freemasonry, generated in part by the apparently obscure references they contain. This is the only book that offers a guide to the stories used in Masonic ritual and their links to the Bible and Christianity. The new Mason is directed to a 'serious contemplation of the Volume of the Sacred Law' — but that is easier said than done without a grounding in the Scriptures, something that fewer and fewer people have. The historical and geographical setting of the Bible is explained here, making such contemplation easier for Mason and non-Mason alike. Mike Neville has systematically cross-referenced the most influential Chapters of the Bible to the ceremonies. It is his intention to get Freemasons to understand the ritual — not just to memorise and regurgitate — as well as to elucidate for the non-Mason. Sacred Secrets will aid the clergy, theologians and any other person interested in Freemasonry to see the links between ritual and scripture.

Book The Red Triangle

Download or read book The Red Triangle written by Robert Cooper and published by Lewis Masonic Pub. This book was released on 2011 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For at least two hundred years, Freemasonry has been subjected to witch-hunts. Conspiracy theories abound in which Freemasons manipulate whole governments, incite revolution, control the world banking system, and will engage in any activity, even murder, to advance their aims. Even today, Freemasonry is still seen a legitimate group to attack on the grounds of politics, religion and conspiracy theories. The Red Triangle uncovers the reality of this persecution of Freemasons from its first manifestation soon after people became aware of their existence in the seventeenth century. Attacks and persecution took place in many countries as Freemasonry spread around the world—there was even an anti-Masonic political party in nineteenth-century America that stood against Masonic politicians. In complete contrast, Freemasonry and the American Civil War provides a fascinating inside view of the ethos of Freemasons in extreme, life-threatening, situations when Freemasons offered assistance to their fellow Freemasons on opposite sides during the war.

In it, we will tell the story of Freemasonry, particularly Freemasonry for men and women; we will explain what liberal Freemasonry is; that it is far removed from the boring boys club image; what Freemasons do in their ceremonies; how Freemasonry can lead to a better, more fulfilling life and increase self-knowledge; what the symbolism and allegory actually mean; Freemasonry's impact on society. Above all, we will show that it follows a path of secular spirituality not related to religion.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are reasons why every symbol and every allegory in Freemasonry should be deemed important to a Mason. Knowledge can be preserved in symbols and, often, those that preserve them can be ignorant of what they preserve. For those who continue to search for the deeper meaning behind Masonic symbols, consider yourself more enlightened than those who do not seem to understand the words "veiled in allegory and illustrated by symbols." The Craft's symbolism is a system of great depth, and only appears simplistic to those who view it superficially. However, when we research industriously, the true light of Freemasonry will unfold. This book brings to light some of the deeper meaning behind Masonic symbols.
