Book excerpt: ESTE LIBRO EXPLICA CON PROSA CLARA CÓMO SE LEGITIMA HOY EL ORDEN SOCIAL Y ARROJA UNA MIRADA INNOVADORA PARA ENTENDER LAS IDEOLOGÍAS EN LA SOCIEDAD ACTUAL.

Book The Deconstruction of Employment as a Political Question

Download or read book The Deconstruction of Employment as a Political Question written by Amparo Serrano-Pascual and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-07-20 with total page 353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The wide-ranging European perspectives brought together in this volume aim to analyse, by means of an interdisciplinary approach, the numerous implications of a massive shift in the conception of ‘work’ and the category of ‘worker’. Changes in the production models, economic downturn and increasing digitalisation have triggered a breakdown in the terms and assumptions that previously defined and shaped the notion of employment. This has made it more difficult to discuss, and problematise, issues like vulnerability in employment in such terms as unfairness, inequality and inadequate protection. Taking the ‘deconstruction of employment’ as a central idea for theorising the phenomenon of work today, this volume explores the emergence of new semantic fields and territories for understanding and regulating employment. These new linguistic categories have implications beyond language alone: they reformulate the very concept of waged employment (including those aspects previously considered intrinsic to the meaning of work and of being ‘a worker’), along with other closely associated categories such as unemployment, self-employment, and inactivity.

Book Philosophical and Sociological Reflections on Labour Law in Times of Crisis

Download or read book Philosophical and Sociological Reflections on Labour Law in Times of Crisis written by Eduardo von Adamovich and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2022-05-13 with total page 455 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Starting from the assertion that crisis is part of the essence of labour law, this volume brings together researchers in the field who accepted the challenge to critically reflect on this branch of the discipline. As the COVID-19 pandemic has had a global impact, labour law across the world must come to terms with a new reality. In this context, it would be prudent to adapt to new circumstances by taking known paths. To this end, this book reflects on what effectively constitutes labour law, considering questions which are not usual within labour law. Insights from philosophical, sociological and even economic standpoints are mobilised to reconcile the past with the future of labour law.

Book Deconstructing Flexicurity and Developing Alternative Approaches

Download or read book Deconstructing Flexicurity and Developing Alternative Approaches written by Maarten Keune and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2014-03-26 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years, the concept of flexicurity has come to occupy a central place in political and academic debates regarding employment and social policy. It fosters a view in which the need for continuously increasing flexibility is the basic assumption, and the understanding of security increasingly moves from social protection to self-insurance or individual adaptability. Moreover, it rejects the traditional contradictions between flexibility and security, blending the two into a single notion and thus depoliticizing the relationships between capital and labour. This volume provides a critical discussion of the flexicurity concept, the theories upon which it is built and the ideas that it transmits about work, unemployment and social justice. It shows that flexicurity fosters the further individualization of social protection, an increase in precariousness and the further weakening of labour in relation to capital. The authors present a series of alternative theoretical, normative and policy approaches that provide due attention to the collective and political dimension of vulnerability and allow for the development of new societal projects based on alternative values and assumptions.

This book was released on 2015-12-28 with total page 491 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since 2007 and the economic meltdown caused by the financial crisis, our societies have been evolving in different ways. New political movements have emerged in Southern Europe and new social movements in pursuit of common concerns are playing a more active role in our daily lives. In a parallel way, after the failure to predict the financial crisis, economist and social science researchers seek fresh thinking and new models that can better explain this new reality. Regulations are of critical importance in shaping the welfare of economies and society. Thus, core legal disciplines are exploring the effects of the financial crisis on social rights, labour market regulations, and civil, common law or international law, among others. With no doubt, the economic crisis has deeply impacted our economic, social, political and legal environment. During the last decade, researchers from a wide range of disciplines have been looking for solutions. Now it is time make a side stop on the way and to gather results. The 1rst International SBRLab Conference, Finding solutions for a post-crisis society, is organized by the Social and Business Research Lab (SBRLab), Universitat Rovira i Virgili. It is as an international and virtual meeting point of interdisciplinary research and researchers. The purpose of this international conference is to bring together researchers from management, economics, political, social and legal disciplines in order to present and discuss new trends in their respective fields.

Download or read book Narrativa postmoderna del escritor Cubano Reinaldo Arenas 1943 1990 written by Ileana C. Zéndegui and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study focuses on the works of Cuban writer Reinaldo Arenas, one of the most prolific and controversial Latin American authors in the second half of the 20th century. (Written in Spanish) Preface Ileana Zendegui's book is a lucid and solidly documented study on Reinaldo Arenas, the most radical and subversive voice of the Cuban narrative of the last 45 years. The author has a keen knowledge of the prevalent approaches to the literary text in contemporary literary criticism, and this allows her to do an original reading of Arenas' texts from a new perspective of the paradigms of Postmodernity, assigning his writings a permanent transgressor dimension, in opposition to the official totalitarian discourse that the Cuban political power sustains. This relevant vision adds a different view to the studies on Reinaldo Arenas, and makes possible to categorize the work of the Cuban narrator as Postmodern and authentically revolutionary. in the last decades have omitted all references to the fact that it does not reflect the reality of a Postmodern culture, pointing out, very rightly so, that there is a reason for this omission: the political project of the Cuban revolution... has nothing in common with the Postmodern sensitivity -heterogeneous, pluralist, relativist, antiauthoritarian. This study demonstrates a sound knowledge of the concepts that define the Postmodern thought, and its applications to Arenas' writings reveal the transcendence of this author in contemporary Cuban narrative. This is an aspect that gives Zendegui's study a fundamental importance in the new approaches to the novelist's works. The texts chosen for the study of Ileana Zendegui offer a forceful and tragic vision of Cuban reality, unmasking the images of terror and alienation, of loneliness and oppression, of madness and death, and the desperate search for freedom, love and true human solidarity. command and usage of primary and secondary sources, bringing to the reader an understanding of the existential reality of human beings immersed into an ideological model that has made the dehumanization of man and the apocalypse its reason for existing. One of the most important contributions of this work to the study of Cuban narrative is the distinction that for the first time is established between the concept of lo real maravilloso, with Alejo Carpentier as its most renowned representative, and what the author identifies as lo irreal espantoso, a vision symbolized by Reinaldo Arenas. On defining Cuban experience as the antipode of Alejo Carpentier's vision, Zendegui demystifies, demythologizes, an escapist perception that has never had any relation with the hallucinating and tragic Cuban reality. The desolation and disintegration of a world rotten by its own contradictions, finds in Arenas' writings a powerful, expansive force, unknown until then in Cuban literature. Ileana Zendegui's study brings this out brilliantly. relation between Reinaldo Arenas' poem El Central, and Jose Marti's El presidio politico. Zendegui affirms that Arenas' text could be considered an extension, both at the ideological and thematic levels of that of Marti's. The premises established by Roland Barthes in relation to the concept of re-presentation, underlined by Jacques Derrida's vision on the act of reading, give Zendegui an opportunity to explore two texts that although separated by time are nonetheless very consequent in their intentionality and ethicity. It is surprising the similarity that even with their established differences the two texts have in common, making the reader aware of the ingrained vocation for freedom -not different from that of Jose Marti- that becomes the sediment of Arenas' writings. Ileana Zendegui's book is a relevant text in the bibliography on Reinaldo Arenas. who, with a transcending humanist and ethical vision, has left as a legacy a powerful sense of commitment in the struggle for affirming the will to be ourselves against the monsters of our time.
