Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book examines how the practice of episcopacy in the Church of England and the EKD affects the claim that the 'historic episcopate' is a necessary condition for 'the full interchangeability of ministers'. It addresses four questions relating to the practice of oversight: How have different forms of oversight sought to maintain the apostolic 'historic' faith in history and today? How does the exercise of authority within contemporary societies relate to the pre-modern ideas expressed in the idea of historic episcopate? How has the practice of oversight changed in the light of demographic changes and declining levels of church membership? What are the implications of synodical government and shared oversight for the concept of 'historic episcopate'? The book's goal is to explore whether an interdisciplinary analysis of episcopacy can assist the churches in establishing a new understanding of the "historic episcopate". With papers by Mark Chapman, Jonathan Gibbs, Matthias Grebe, Miriam Haar, Alex Hughes, Frances Knight, Morwenna Ludlow, Ralf Meister, Friederike Nüssel, Bernd Oberdorfer and Peter Scherle.

Book Towards Interchangeability II

Book excerpt: After the 2021 Theological Conference of the Meissen Commission focussed on the theological and ecclesiological potential of the Meissen Declaration between the Protestant Church in Germany and the Church of England from today's perspective, this year's conference explored the scope of the Declaration in terms of canon law and practical theology. At the same time, important social upheavals that have since changed the church's understanding of ministry were included. Reflections on ecumenical experiences of interchangeability on the ground show the opportunities and limitations within the Meissen Declaration as well as in different regional, social and ecclesial contexts.

Book The Routledge International Handbook of Existential Human Science

Download or read book The Routledge International Handbook of Existential Human Science written by Huon Wardle and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2023-08-01 with total page 395 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is the first handbook to explore existentialism as epistemology and method. Transdisciplinary in scope, it considers the nature of human subjectivity and how human experience ought to be studied, examining the connections that exist between the individual’s imagining of the world and their everyday practice within it. With attention to the question of whether humans are ultimately alone in their self-knowledge or whether what they know of themselves is constructed in common with others, it enables the reader to recognize core questions that frame the methods and orientation of an existential inquiry. In addition to historical exposition, it offers a variety of chapters from around the world that explore the diverse global spaces for, and different types of, existential focus and discussion, thus questioning the view that the existential "problem" may be singularly a matter for the post-enlightenment West. The fullest and most comprehensive survey to date of what human beings can and should make of themselves, The Routledge International Handbook of Existential Human Science will appeal to scholars across the humanities and social sciences with interests in anthropology, sociology, philosophy, and research methods.

Book Building Economics

Download or read book Building Economics written by Ivor H. Seeley and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 1996-11-11 with total page 520 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This comprehensively rewritten, updated and extended new edition of this established text focuses on what has become the most important single facet of the quantity surveyor's role - cost management. The scope of the book has been broadened to take account of the widening and more sophisticated cost management and control service that clients now require. The book examines the factors influencing building costs and how the precontract costs can be estimated, analysed and controlled, to ensure that buildings can be completed within the agreed budget and timescale, and be of acceptable quality, function effectively and provide value for money. A new chapter on value management has been added, together with an introductory chapter on cost modelling; the chapter on life cycling costing is extended, while the sections on energy conservation and occupancy costs are expanded. Throughout the text many new case studies, with supporting tables and diagrams, are included in order to enhance the value of this book to the student and the practitioner.
