Book Towards an Electrically injected Optical Parametric Oscillator

Download or read book Towards an Electrically injected Optical Parametric Oscillator written by Alice Bernard and published by . This book was released on 2018 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Injection seeded Optical Parametric Oscillator and System

Download or read book Injection seeded Optical Parametric Oscillator and System written by and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Optical parametric oscillators (OPO) and systems are provided. The OPO has a non-linear optical material located between two optical elements where the product of the reflection coefficients of the optical elements are higher at the output wavelength than at either the pump or idler wavelength. The OPO output may be amplified using an additional optical parametric amplifier (OPA) stage.

Book Special Properties of Optical Parametric Oscillators

Book excerpt: Optical parametric oscillators (OPOS) are useful devices to generate tunable radiation. The tuning characteristics of OPOs can lead to their utility in remote sensing applications. We have investigated injection-seeded OPOs to generate narrow-band Mid-JR radiation for this purpose. OPOs exhibit a resonance structure similar to that of a laser's cavity limiting the frequency choices available. Also, the coupling of the electric fields of the three interacting waves can generate cavity resonances for OPOs which have no cold cavity resonances (i.e. non-resonant OPOS). The potential for generating multiple frequencies simultaneously from a single OPO is discussed. The generation of multiple output frequencies is accomplished by injecting either multiple signal or multiple pump frequencies to the OPO. A seeded SRO is found to be well-suited to generating spectrally pure and stable multi-line output when the input pump field is multiple frequency. The generation of sideband frequencies during multiple seeding is also observed experimentally and addressed theoretically. The spectral purity of the OPO output is related to the frequency separation of the multi-line input as compared to the OPO cavity resonance structure.

Book excerpt: This report is to certify that we have acquired a Spectra Physics femtosecond Optical Parametric Oscillator OPAL - 1.5 that delivers pulses at a wavelength that is tunable from 1.35 to 1.6 urn, for the amount of $65,000. The OPAL was installed in November 2001 and has been running properly since then. This acquisition provided us with the femtosecond laser source needed to conduct research on organic photonic materials for telecommunications and displays.

Book Quantum Electronics A Treatise

Download or read book Quantum Electronics A Treatise written by Herbert Rabin and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1975-01-01 with total page 295 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Quantum Electronics: A Treatise, Volume I: Nonlinear Optics, Part B is a three-chapter volume that covers several important applications of nonlinear optics, specifically those concerned with the generation of coherent light at new frequencies. The opening chapter discusses the most fundamental problems in the dispersion properties of second optical harmonic devices. The following chapter addresses the progress made in the understanding and operation of optical parametric oscillators. This chapter also presents the theory of these devices and their important operation characteristics. Optical parametric oscillator factors, such as efficiency, bandwidth, frequency stability, and gains, are also considered in this chapter. The last chapter describes the generation and detection of infrared radiation using nonlinear optics. This chapter also examines the most important features of nonlinear optics. This book will be of value to quantum electronics scientists, engineers, and researchers.

Book Optical Parametric Oscillator Research

Download or read book Optical Parametric Oscillator Research written by Eugene O. Ammann and published by . This book was released on 1971 with total page 103 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The report summarizes the results obtained during a two year optical parametric oscillator program. The goal of this work is to perform studies which will lead to more efficient, stable operation of optical parametric oscillators. Three subjects have been studied on this program. First, an internal optical parametric oscillator of special design was proposed, built, and operated. This marks only the second time that an internal oscillator has been successfully operated. Stable efficient parametric oscillation was obtained with average 2.1 micron output powers as high as 350 mW. This oscillator output power is an order of magnitude greater than any previously reported. The second and third subjects investigated on this program concern the simultaneous occurrence of nonlinear optical processes. Experimental and theoretical studies were carried out on the simultaneous occurrence of parametric oscillation and second harmonic generation in a single nonlinear crystal. In addition, investigations were begun on the simultaneous occurrence of oscillation and sum-frequency generation. Both of these simultaneous processes are of interest for two reasons: (1) they provide a technique for generating a new output near the pump frequency of an optical parametric oscillator; and (2) in normal oscillator operation, they are undesirable and should be avoided since they act as a loss mechanism for the signal or idler. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Terahertz waves, which lie in the frequency range of 0.1-10 THz, have long been investigated in a few limited fields, such as astronomy, because of a lack of devices for their generation and detection. Several technical breakthroughs made over the last couple of decades now allow us to radiate and detect terahertz waves more easily, which has trigg
