Download or read book Progress Toward Agenda 2030 written by Danielle Lane and published by Emerald Group Publishing. This book was released on 2023-09-20 with total page 361 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At the midway point towards the United Nations (UN) Agenda 2030, this critical volume focuses on how a range of contextually diverse countries are progressing towards inclusive education. Contributors critically consider the current state of inclusive education in their own countries in relation to meeting the UN’s Agenda 2030 initiative and Sustainable Development Goal 4. The foundation is set in chapter one by the editors, with a historical overview of inclusion and inclusive policies globally. Key international scholars critique the history and status of inclusion in their respective contexts. In reference to local research, they explore the history of inclusion, the current policies and state of inclusion, barriers and levers for inclusion, and look towards the future of inclusive education. Chapters demonstrate how the continued call for a shift towards inclusive education in different countries is extremely complex and varies greatly within each international context. Attention is given to levers promoting inclusion through contextually appropriate international initiatives and the importance of the realignment of policies and practices if all countries are to achieve the 2030 UN’s education goal. Progress Toward Agenda 2030 serves to challenge all educational stakeholders to critically consider, analyze, and innovate policies and practices for inclusive education for all by 2030.

Because we believe research matters, we formed this space to encourage a wider sharing and a broader consideration of educational research. We believe research can help us seek answers to key questions;we also believe engaging in research to answer our questions helps us become connected and powerful. Our agenda is to investigate all aspects of life of/in schools, focusing upon the good work of teachers and the learning of both children and teachers. We believe we are part of a large community of colleagues who wish the same. With this journal, to create a meeting place for those of us who seek to better understand teaching and learning. What is happening in the United States with teaching and learning the space we are building can be seen as a bit radical. It is our resistance to outside force. It is encouragement for us all in our difficult work.

Book excerpt: Bachelor Thesis from the year 2021 in the subject Social Work, grade: 9, University of Ljubljana (Faculty of Social Work), language: English, abstract: With this graduation thesis, I explored the possibilities of cooperation between the youth sector and schools in the Municipality of Ljubljana. First, I explored how youth workers imagine this partnership. Namely, what approaches, activities, and methods would they use when working in and with schools. Later, I focused on possible chances and challenges which the youth sector and schools may deal with in the partnership. Finally, I explored what youth workers think which practices and experiences from abroad could be adopted to Slovenia and why. For instance, practices observed and experiences gained by participating in mobility programmes for youth workers. Youth workers work with young people to facilitate their personal, social, and political development through non-formal and informal education, counselling, and leisure activities. Furthermore, they support youth to have a voice in communities. Slovenian youth sector is highly engaged and active in working with young people where they are at. Slovenian youth spend most of the day in schools. Considering the previous facts, having youth work in schools is not only beneficial for young people, but also for schools and communities. “Youth work in Schools” is a concept for delivering informal and non-formal learning in formal settings. For instance, in primary and secondary schools.

Download or read book Resolving Environmental Conflict Towards Sustainable Community Development written by Chris Maser and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1995-11-21 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the most important challenges facing civilization is how its natural resources will be used and protected. Too often polarization and litigation cause results with which no one is truly satisfied. Enemies are made, lines are drawn and both people and the environment are degraded. Resolving Environmental Conflict explains the transformative approach toward facilitation. It shows how to help parties empower themselves to define the issues and decide the settlement on their own terms and on their own time through better understanding of one another's perspectives. The transformative approach allows a conflict's outcome to be decided solely by the participants even though resolution may not take place for some months after facilitation is complete. Inherent in the solution is a shared vision for the community without which sustainability is not possible. Beyond shared vision, this book examines notions of development, sustainability, and community and the synergism of ecology, culture and economic needs that promote a healthy environment enriching the lives of all its inhabitants.
