Book The Time Traveler s Journal

Download or read book The Time Traveler s Journal written by Ed Masessa and published by Scholastic. This book was released on 2007 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The time traveler is Lieserl Einstein (who now refers to herself as Lisa.) Born in 1902, there is no record of her existence. The only mention of her birth came when Albert Einstein's personal papers were released to the public in the 1980s. Lisa was exceptionally brilliant, well beyond her father in theoretical and mechanical ability. She went back in time to remove all records of her existence, leaving the mention ofher birth in the private papers as a teaser. The Great Fire of Chicago had nothing to do with a cow, but everything to do with a passing comet that sprayed the upper Great Lakes with debris and caused massive firestorms. A small rock was part of that debris. It contained an incredible amount of stored energy, but was the size of a pea and weighed next to nothing. Lisa purchased this pebble, harnessed its energy, and developed a GCSL device (Galactic Cosmic String Locator) to manipulate the pebble to allow her to locate cosmic string tendrils and ride them to other time periods. This book is Lisa's journal and a synopsis of her travels through time.

Book A Pearl in the Storm

Download or read book A Pearl in the Storm written by Tori Murden McClure and published by Harper Collins. This book was released on 2009-04-07 with total page 308 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "In the end," writes Tori McClure, "I know I rowed across the Atlantic to find my heart, but in the beginning, I wasn't aware that it was missing." During June 1998, Tori McClure set out to row across the Atlantic Ocean by herself in a twenty-three-foot plywood boat with no motor or sail. Within days she lost all communication with shore, but nevertheless she decided to keep going. Not only did she lose the sound of a friendly voice, she lost updates on the location of the Gulf Stream and on the weather. Unfortunately for Tori, 1998 is still on record as the worst hurricane season in the North Atlantic. In deep solitude and perilous conditions, she was nonetheless determined to prove what one person with a mission can do. When she was finally brought to her knees by a series of violent storms that nearly killed her, she had to signal for help and go home in what felt like complete disgrace. Back in Kentucky, however, Tori's life began to change in unexpected ways. She fell in love. At the age of thirty-five, she embarked on a serious relationship for the first time, making her feel even more vulnerable than sitting alone in a tiny boat in the middle of the Atlantic. She went to work for Muhammad Ali, who told her that she did not want to be known as the woman who "almost" rowed across the Atlantic Ocean. And she knew that he was right. In this thrilling story of high adventure and romantic quest, Tori McClure discovers through her favorite way—the hard way—that the most important thing in life is not to prove you are superhuman but to fully to embrace your own humanity. With a wry sense of humor and a strong voice, she gives us a true memoir of an explorer who maps her world with rare emotional honesty.

Book Giving Up the Ghost

Download or read book Giving Up the Ghost written by Hilary Mantel and published by Henry Holt and Company. This book was released on 2004-09-01 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New York Times bestselling author Hilary Mantel, two-time winner of the Man Booker Prize, is one of the world’s most accomplished and acclaimed fiction writers. Giving Up the Ghost, is her dazzling memoir of a career blighted by physical pain in which her singular imagination supplied compensation for the life her body was denied. Selected by the New York Times as one of the 50 Best Memoirs of the Past 50 Years “The story of my own childhood is a complicated sentence that I am always trying to finish, to finish and put behind me.” In postwar rural England, Hilary Mantel grew up convinced that the most extraordinary feats were within her grasp. But at nineteen, she became ill. Through years of misdiagnosis, she suffered patronizing psychiatric treatment and destructive surgery that left her without hope of children. Beset by pain and sadness, she decided to “write herself into being”—one novel after another. This wry and visceral memoir will certainly bring new converts to Mantel’s dark genius. “Mesmerizing.”—The New York Times

Book My Pal Blaise

Download or read book My Pal Blaise written by Richard Leviton and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2012-08 with total page 517 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 2020 angels of a high order started incarnating on Earth as humans. In early 2020 guards at Teotihuacan, an archeological site in Mexico, find eight fat handwritten notebooks on a ledge at the Palace of the Jaguars. They purport to be the journal, and maybe last testament, of an American, age 69, hiding out in the high desert of New Mexico and on the run from intelligence agencies. He sums up his life spent with a most unusual colleague named Blaise. The journal entries span seven months in 2019 then end as 2020 begins, but they cover the history of the Earth. Offered in a matter-of-fact manner, the writer's revelations grow increasingly alarming and hard to credit. Wormholes on the Earth. Pleiadian influence in human evolution. Hyperdimensional Light grids. Clairvoyant scientists. Shapeshifting Ascended Masters. Accounts of planetwide psychic access. An apparitional theater of mythic figures. Angels 60 billion years old on the verge of human incarnation. Yet the journals, written with warmth, fondness, and amusement, read like the memoir of truly one man's best friend, Blaise yet this Blaise is too big, too old, too vast to be a human. What then? And who wrote the journals? He seems untraceable. In 2023 the notebooks passed to Dartmouth College professor Frederick Graham Atkinson, Ph.D., who, starting in 2025, prepared them for publication, adding helpful editorial notes. The journals, though never intended for publication by their author and it's a miracle they survived the desert and years in a dusty unused office, Dr. Atkinson states, offer an unusual, often inspiring, and mostly astonishing report of the inner affairs of planet, culture, myth, humanity, the spiritual world, and where it's all heading.

This book was released on 2008-09-04 with total page 3129 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Marcel Grossmann Meetings are three-yearly forums that meet to discuss recent advances in gravitation, general relativity and relativistic field theories, emphasizing their mathematical foundations, physical predictions and experimental tests. These meetings aim to facilitate the exchange of ideas among scientists, to deepen our understanding of space-time structures, and to review the status of ongoing experiments and observations testing Einstein's theory of gravitation either from ground or space-based experiments. Since the first meeting in 1975 in Trieste, Italy, which was established by Remo Ruffini and Abdus Salam, the range of topics presented at these meetings has gradually widened to accommodate issues of major scientific interest, and attendance has grown to attract more than 900 participants from over 80 countries. This proceedings volume of the eleventh meeting in the series, held in Berlin in 2006, highlights and records the developments and applications of Einstein's theory in diverse areas ranging from fundamental field theories to particle physics, astrophysics and cosmology, made possible by unprecedented technological developments in experimental and observational techniques from space, ground and underground observatories. It provides a broad sampling of the current work in the field, especially relativistic astrophysics, including many reviews by leading figures in the research community.

HIS CHRISTMAS WISH Widowed, a single mom, Christmas and she's just lost her job. Can it get worse? Apparently it can when Santa asks if he can help her and Jenna Darlington knows it's a cruel joke. Because Santa--Chance McKenna--is a member of the Rock Gods, a group of rock climbers who live off of adrenaline and stupidity. Been there, done that. Buried her husband because of it. But now they're back and Marcus is a different man. When Cody doesn't improve, Marcus suggests the unthinkable--that they reveal the truth not only to Cody but their families. Make the wrong right and start again. Together. But after so many years of hiding their secret son how can Marcus prove he's not only father material--but ready for more?
