This book was released on 1991-12-31 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The volumes of this bibliography show the Egyptologist where to find published and unpublished records of ancient Egyptian monuments which remain in situ, those which have been removed but can be traced to a definite site, as well as those in museums and private collections where the provenance has been lost. Monuments are arranged geographically and there are indices, including kings, deities and private individuals, for each volume. The first two volumes contain the account of the temples and tombs at Thebes. The third volume deals with the monuments of Memphis, with its vast necropolis of pyramids and tombs; the fourth with Lower and Middle Egypt. The fifth and sixth volumes cover the sites and temples of Upper Egypt, and the seventh Nubia, the deserts and finds of Egyptian objects outside Egypt. Monuments of provenance not known are being presented systematically in the eighth volume, parts 1 and 2 of which list statues, and parts 3 and 4 stelae.
Download or read book In the Tomb of Nefertari written by Robert Steven Bianchi and published by Getty Conservation Institute. This book was released on 1992-09-01 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The most lavishly decorated tomb in ancient Egypt was constructed for Queen Nefertari, wife of Rameses the Great. The Getty Conservation Institute has been instrumental in the effort to restore the tomb’s magnificent wall paintings, and in the fall of 1992, to mark the project’s completion, an exhibition was held at the Getty Museum. The exhibition included a model of the tomb and full-scale reproductions of the wall paintings. The publication describes the conservation work (including before and after photographs), outlines the life of Nefertari, and places the tomb in the context of Egyptian art history.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: About 240 wooden statues survive from the Old Kingdom (c. 2575 - 2134 BC). The statues that can be dated by external criteria have been gathered together into a chronological catalogue and their features studied to establish dating criteria. The criteria are then applied to the remaining statues, enabling many of them to be assigned dates within individual reigns of the Old Kingdom.

Abundantly illustrated with photographs and line drawings, the volume also includes a comprehensive bibliography of Bryan's publications through 2015.
Download or read book The Royal Women of Amarna written by Dorothea Arnold and published by Metropolitan Museum of Art. This book was released on 1996 with total page 193 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The move to a new capital, Akhenaten/Amarna, brought essential changes in the depictions of royal women. It was in their female imagery, above all, that the artists of Amarna departed from the traditional iconic representations to emphasize the individual, the natural, in a way unprecedented in Egyptian art.
Download or read book Architecture Astronomy and Sacred Landscape in Ancient Egypt written by Giulio Magli and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2013-07-22 with total page 285 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most of the "wonders" of our ancient past have come down to us unencumbered by written information. In particular, this is the case of the Great Pyramid of Giza and of many other ancient Egyptian monuments. However, there is no doubt as to the interest of their builders in the celestial cycles: the "cosmic order" was indeed the true basis of the pharaoh's power. This book takes the reader on a chronological journey through ancient Egypt to explore the relationship between astronomy, landscape, and power during the most flourishing periods of ancient Egyptian civilization. Using the lens of archaeoastronomy, Giulio Magli reexamines the key monuments and turning points of Egyptian architecture and history, such as the solar deification of King Khufu, builder of the Great Pyramid, the Hatshepsut reign, and the Amarna revolution.
