Book Speech and Audio Processing in Adverse Environments

Download or read book Speech and Audio Processing in Adverse Environments written by Eberhard Hänsler and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008-07-22 with total page 740 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Users of signal processing systems are never satis?ed with the system they currently use. They are constantly asking for higher quality, faster perf- mance, more comfort and lower prices. Researchers and developers should be appreciative for this attitude. It justi?es their constant e?ort for improved systems. Better knowledge about biological and physical interrelations c- ing along with more powerful technologies are their engines on the endless road to perfect systems. This book is an impressive image of this process. After “Acoustic Echo 1 and Noise Control” published in 2004 many new results lead to “Topics in 2 Acoustic Echo and Noise Control” edited in 2006 . Today – in 2008 – even morenew?ndingsandsystemscouldbecollectedinthisbook.Comparingthe contributions in both edited volumes progress in knowledge and technology becomesclearlyvisible:Blindmethodsandmultiinputsystemsreplace“h- ble” low complexity systems. The functionality of new systems is less and less limited by the processing power available under economic constraints. The editors have to thank all the authors for their contributions. They cooperated readily in our e?ort to unify the layout of the chapters, the ter- nology, and the symbols used. It was a pleasure to work with all of them. Furthermore, it is the editors concern to thank Christoph Baumann and the Springer Publishing Company for the encouragement and help in publi- ing this book.

Book Acoustic Echo and Noise Control

Download or read book Acoustic Echo and Noise Control written by Eberhard Hänsler and published by Wiley. This book was released on 2015-09-21 with total page 600 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is based on the monograph Acoustic Echo and Noise Control, which was published by Wiley (2004). The information has been revised and updated with important new information included. The book contains fundamental analysis of new topics such as bandwidth extension and speech enhancement by partial signal reconstruction. Emphasis is put on entire systems such as speech dialog systems and in-car communication systems. The latter record the speech of the driver and the passenger in a car, process these signals to get rid of background and feedback components, and finally play them back via loudspeakers located close to the backseat passengers.

Book A Perspective on Stereophonic Acoustic Echo Cancellation

Download or read book A Perspective on Stereophonic Acoustic Echo Cancellation written by Jacob Benesty and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-07-25 with total page 141 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Single-channel hands-free teleconferencing systems are becoming popular. In order to enhance the communication quality of these systems, more and more stereophonic sound devices with two loudspeakers and two microphones are deployed. Because of the coupling between loudspeakers and microphones, there may be strong echoes, which make real-time communication very difficult. The best way we know to cancel these echoes is via a stereo acoustic echo canceller (SAEC), which can be modelled as a two-input/two-output system with real random variables. In this work, the authors recast this problem into a single-input/single-output system with complex random variables thanks to the widely linear model. From this new convenient formulation, they re-derive the most important aspects of a SAEC, including identification of the echo paths with adaptive filters, double-talk detection, and suppression.

Book Engineering Acoustics

Download or read book Engineering Acoustics written by Michael Möser and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-04-17 with total page 295 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Suitable for both individual and group learning, Engineering Acoustics focuses on basic concepts and methods to make our environments quieter, both in buildings and in the open air. The author’s tutorial style derives from the conviction that understanding is enhanced when the necessity behind the particular teaching approach is made clear. He also combines mathematical derivations and formulas with extensive explanations and examples to deepen comprehension. Fundamental chapters on the physics and perception of sound precede those on noise reduction (elastic isolation) methods. The last chapter deals with microphones and loudspeakers. Moeser includes major discoveries by Lothar Cremer, including the optimum impedance for mufflers and the coincidence effect behind structural acoustic transmission. The appendix gives a short introduction on the use of complex amplitudes in acoustics.
