Barbara Schorer's ancestry is traced to Samuel Schorer (ca. 1786-ca. 1834) and his wife Verna Jendt (b. ca. 1786), both of Switzerland. Charles Toll married Barbara Schorer in Wilmington, North Carolina in 1942; they have lived in North Carolina, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire.
