About five years ago, while working for Rittali , the elder son of an influential and illicit family, he killed the younger son. He disappeared because the family and the police were after him. He got a fake ID and settled in a hut on a deserted island and lived on the island by trapping and doing various handicrafts with his dog named KURT. Rittali family locates him and sends a hitman to the island by helicopter. At that moment, a blizzard begins. The helicopter is forced to leave this enforcer named Corsa on the island. Corsa , who is in his 50s , falls and faints while trying to walk through the blizzard to reach the cabin. Tom and his dog Kurt find him almost frozen, carry him to the hut and bring him back to life. Tom examines the man's clothes and sees the weapons found on the man and the photos and information about himself, and understands why the man came to the island. Corsa is a hitman who came to the island to kill him. Tom ties Corsa with chains. There are 8-10 days left before the blizzard ends. They have to spend this time alone on the island, in Tom's hut. When the storm is over , Tom prepares to escape from the island. Meanwhile, MIND GAMES begin between Corsa and Tom . While Corsa plays various games to get rid of the chains, Tom is aware of his game and starts playing his own game. When the storm is over, Tom leaves the assassin Corsa chained on the island and leaves. FROSTY SYNOPSIS Every year around that time, a routine blizzard comes to the region and lasts for a week. During the blizzard, life in the region comes to a standstill. That day, the storm hit the island a day earlier than expected. During this unexpected blizzard , Tom was checking his traps in the forest on the island with his dog Kurt. At that moment, he heard the sound of a helicopter landing on the island. As the blizzard turned into a storm, he got on his snowmobile and set off to return to the cabin. There is a dark figure lying on the ground on the road. Tom, whose visibility is poor due to the blizzard , does not see the figure lying on the ground, but his dog Wolf sees the man lying on the ground. The man is freezing to death. He puts the man on the sled and takes him to the cabin. The man they brought back to life is a man in his 50s. Tom saw what was left on the man and understood his intentions. This man was a hitman sent to the island to kill him. He has chained the man, Corsa wakes up in the bathtub, comes to. He doesn't seem surprised to be chained. His intentions are revealed. Afterwards, Tom brings the gun and other items from Corsa onto the table , showing that he knows what the man came for. They have to live together for a week. Tom doesn't want to kill Corsa . When he says , "I'm not a murderer, but since my location is known, I will leave the island when the storm is over, I will report you to the local sheriff, the local sheriff will come and get you." Corsa starts his own mind games. In fact, he claims that the county sheriff tipped off the family to Tom's whereabouts and took a bribe for it. He also says that he is a man of a large executioner company. Corsa's goal is to get inside Tom's mind, somehow get him to cooperate and break free from the chains, while Tom's dog Wolf stands guard and is ready to tear Corsa to pieces if he attacks. Over the course of a week, Corsa tells his own story , his experiences, how he got dragged into this life, his goals. He tells a love story from the past . He says he used to be a literature teacher. He says he became a hitman because he was after a woman for a lot of money. Tom also tells his own story . Meanwhile, Corsa claims that the drawings on some cards in the hut tell a secret story . The former owner of the hut, Old Joe, found gold on this island with a friend. After the hostility between them, old Joe killed his friend and buried the man under a tree on the island. Since he could not read or write, he told his story by drawing. Corsa wants to convince Tom . His goal is to get her to follow this story and try to influence her to go after the gold that Old Joe has hidden together. However, when the storm is over , Tom tells Corsa the truth. The local sheriff is actually a woman. Tom thinks the local sheriff is a man. Tom has been aware of Corsa's lies from the first day . And when the day of departure comes, he leaves the hut. Corsa remains chained behind.

Book excerpt: Back to the Gaff Scandalous Narratives of Contemporary Ireland. Back to the Gaff is a book by new author John P Brady, which describes the excessive and outrageous nature of Irish night life. Meet an array of eccentric individuals who populate the bars of Dublin, living lives of decadence and abandon. Their frolics inevitably lead to a trip ‘back to the gaff,’ which in Dublin-speak means gravitating towards someone’s place of residence where the depravity continues. Many of the characters are figures who prop up some of the city centre bars and inhabit a parallel universe in which they never have a normal night out. The mundane is their enemy which they strike out against at every opportunity, escaping into a world of vice, where sex is casual and drugs are ubiquitous. 'Keen, witty observations of ordinary people. John P Brady has a funny twist on life' Sam North - Editor, Hackwriters Magazine ‘…like a young Jack Kerouac…’ Alice Walsh - Former Editor, The Bohemyth ‘Brady's writing renews the reconciliation between introspection and action.’ Shazia Hafiz Ramji, Editor, Zouch Magazine

  • Author : Geoffrey Beattie
  • Publisher : Taylor & Francis

  • Pages : 293 pages

Download or read book Lies Lying and Liars written by Geoffrey Beattie and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2024-04-25 with total page 293 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lies, Lying and Liars: A Psychological Analysis delves into the psychology of lies, exploring the processes of lying and its far-reaching consequences. The author’s unique approach considers the ways in which lying sculpts our realities when used by public figures such as politicians, as well as how lying is woven into our everyday life. This book dissects lies in natural social contexts, from the innocent childhood fibs to the more nefarious fabrications of con artists, cheats, and adulterers. Drawing from a rich tapestry of psychology and sociobiology, as well as research and literature from philosophy and the social sciences, this book discusses the role of lying and liars in day-to-day life. It offers profound insights into the strategies of deceit, the presence or absence of remorse, emotion and rationalisations, pathological liars, the development of lying, its connection to narcissism, the functional utility of lies, and lie detection. Lies, the book argues, are a part of the social structures inherent in everyday social life, and there is a need to explore their psychological significance in a range of natural, everyday contexts. Written in Beattie’s unique and engaging style by using elements of personal narrative and self-reflection, this is a fascinating read for students and scholars of psychology, sociology, and politics, and other disciplines of the behavioural and social sciences, as well as anyone interested in the phenomenon of lying.
