Book Formal Methods for Components and Objects

Download or read book Formal Methods for Components and Objects written by Marcello M. Bonsangue and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008-12-01 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Formal methods have been applied successfully to the verification of medium-sized programs in protocol and hardware design. However, their application to the development of large systems requires more emphasis on specification, modelling and validation techniques supporting the concepts of reusability and modifiability, and their implementation in new extensions of existing programming languages like Java. The 6th International Symposium on Formal Methods for Components and Objects, FMCO 2007, was held in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, in October 2007. This book presents 12 revised papers submitted after the symposium by the speakers of each of the following European IST projects: the IST-FP6 project Mobius, developing the technology for establishing trust and security for the next generation of global computers; the IST-FP6 project SelfMan on self management for large-scale distributed systems based on structured overlay networks and components; the IST-FP6 project GridComp and the FP6 CoreGRID Network of Excellence on grid programming with components; the Real-time component cluster of the Network of Excellence on Embedded System Design ARTIST, focussing on design processes, and architectures for real-time embedded systems; and the IST-FP6 project CREDO on modeling and analysis of evolutionary structures for distributed services.

Book Theorem Proving in Higher Order Logics

Download or read book Theorem Proving in Higher Order Logics written by Stefan Berghofer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-08-04 with total page 527 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume constitutes the proceedings of the 22nd International Conference on Theorem Proving in Higher Order Logics (TPHOLs 2009), which was held during August 17-20, 2009 in Munich, Germany. TPHOLs covers all aspects of theorem proving in higher order logics as well as related topics in theorem proving and veri?cation. There were 55 papers submitted to TPHOLs 2009 in the full research c- egory, each of which was refereed by at least three reviewers selected by the ProgramCommittee. Of these submissions, 26 researchpapers and 1 proofpearl were accepted for presentation at the conference and publication in this v- ume. In keeping with longstanding tradition, TPHOLs 2009 also o?ered a venue for the presentation of emerging trends, where researchers invited discussion by means of a brief introductory talk and then discussed their work at a poster session. A supplementary proceedings volume was published as a 2009 technical report of the Technische Universit¨ at Munc ¨ hen. The organizers are grateful to David Basin, John Harrison and Wolfram Schulte for agreeing to give invited talks. We also invited four tool devel- ers to give tutorials about their systems. The following speakers kindly accepted our invitation and we are grateful to them: John Harrison (HOL Light), Adam Naumowicz (Mizar), Ulf Norell (Agda) and Carsten Schur ¨ mann (Twelf).

In response to the call for papers, 41 full submissions were received. Each submission was reviewed by at least four Program Committee members with the help of external reviewers. The ProgramCommittee meeting was conducted electronically over a 2-week period. After careful discussion, the Program C- mittee selected 20 papers. I would like to sincerely thank all the members of the APLAS 2008 Program Committee for their excellent job, and all the external reviewers for their invaluable contribution. The submission and review process was managed using the EasyChair system. In addition to the 20 contributed papers, the symposium also featured three invitedtalksbyDinoDistefano(QueenMary,UniversityofLondon,UK),Radha Jagadeesan (DePaul University, USA), and Simon Peyton-Jones (Microsoft - search Cambridge, UK). Book The Architecture of Open Source Applications Volume II

Download or read book The Architecture of Open Source Applications Volume II written by Amy Brown and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2012 with total page 392 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Architects look at thousands of buildings during their training, and study critiques of those buildings written by masters. In contrast, most software developers only ever get to know a handful of large programs well -- usually programs they wrote themselves -- and never study the great programs of history. As a result, they repeat one another's mistakes rather than building on one another's successes. This second volume of The Architecture of Open Source Applications aims to change that. In it, the authors of twenty-four open source applications explain how their software is structured, and why. What are each program's major components? How do they interact? And what did their builders learn during their development? In answering these questions, the contributors to this book provide unique insights into how they think.
