Book Time Travel Bible Adventures Luke Part A and Jonah

Download or read book Time Travel Bible Adventures Luke Part A and Jonah written by Turk Allcott and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2014-09-27 with total page 74 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I want you to learn every book of the bible, like I'm doing, and I'll try to make it easy for you. First, the stories are written by ten-year-old Tracy Jeanette. You may know her from other adventures. She tours back in time with her gang of animal friends, chaperoned of course by the Old Man. Who in turn is sometimes accompanied by Sklo. Second, I've done a little editing. Some of the Bible books are just too darn big to cover in one adventure. So I divided those books into several Parts. And the Parts aren't in order. It's okay! Don't worry. Bible books aren't like novels or movies where you need a spoiler alert. You probably know the end anyway. There are a lot of topics that tie together, but they don't have to be told serially. Matthew Part A, for instance, is where the gang goes back to see Jesus baptized. Way after He was born. Then they check out John the Baptist and his desert hangout. The main thing is: have fun and enjoy the ride! You'll learn a lot. I know I did.

Book Eerdmans Commentary on the Bible Jonah Micah Nahum Habakkuk Zephaniah

Download or read book Eerdmans Commentary on the Bible Jonah Micah Nahum Habakkuk Zephaniah written by David Gunn and published by Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing. This book was released on 2019-06-18 with total page 1672 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This extract from the Eerdmans Commentary on the Bible provides Gunn, Rogerson, and Gelston's introduction to and concise commentary on Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, and Zephania. The Eerdmans Commentary on the Bible presents, in nontechnical language, the best of modern scholarship on each book of the Bible, including the Apocrypha. Reader-friendly commentary complements succinct summaries of each section of the text and will be valuable to scholars, students, and general readers. Rather than attempt a verse-by-verse analysis, these volumes work from larger sense units, highlighting the place of each passage within the overarching biblical story. Commentators focus on the genre of each text—parable, prophetic oracle, legal code, and so on—interpreting within the historical and literary context. The volumes also address major issues within each biblical book—including the range of possible interpretations—and refer readers to the best resources for further discussions.

Book excerpt: The Knowing the Bible series is a resource designed to help Bible readers better understand and apply God’s Word. These 12-week studies lead participants through books of the Bible and are made up of four basic components: (1) reflection questions help readers engage the text at a deeper level; (2) “Gospel Glimpses” highlight the gospel of grace throughout the book; (3) “Whole-Bible Connections” show how any given passage connects to the Bible’s overarching story of redemption, culminating in Christ; and (4) “Theological Soundings” identify how historic orthodox doctrines are taught or reinforced throughout Scripture. With contributions from an array of influential pastors and church leaders, these gospel-centered studies will help Christians see and cherish the message of God’s grace on every page of the Bible. The books of Jonah, Micah, and Nahum announce the judgment of God through his prophets—flawed messengers who nevertheless served as vehicles for God’s compassion, calling their hearers to repent of their evil, turn from their false gods, and worship the one true God. Over the course of 12 weeks, this study helps readers see the steadfast love, mercy, and patience of the Lord, the deliverer and protector who offers forgiveness to all who turn from their sin and trust in him. Part of the Knowing the Bible series.

Book The Sayings Gospel Q in Greek and English

Download or read book The Sayings Gospel Q in Greek and English written by James McConkey Robinson and published by Peeters Publishers. This book was released on 2001 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Sayings Gospel Q in Greek and English with Parallels from the Gospels of Mark and Thomas is the outcome of a generation's work by the International Q Project, in reconstructing the collection of sayings ascribed to Jesus (and some to John) that lies behind the Gospels of Matthew and Luke. It thus makes available in a convenient form the most important source for reconstructing the message of Jesus' original Galilean followers, as they proclaimed anew after his death his message of God's reign. Q is, as a result, the most important single source for the study of the historical Jesus. It should be in the hands of every student of theology and of every layperson seriously interested in knowing more about Jesus. This small volume presents, on facing pages, the Greek and English reconstruction of the text of Q. It is in a simplified and more readable format than its original massive publication of 1990, The Critical Edition of Q: Synopsis including the Gospels of Matthew and Luke, Mark and Thomas with English, German and French Translations of Q and Thomas, edited by James M. Robinson, Paul Hoffmann, and John S. Kloppenborg, Managing Editor Milton C. Moreland, at Peeters and Fortress Press.

Book A Stranger in the House of God

Download or read book A Stranger in the House of God written by John Koessler and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 2009-08-30 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Growing up the son of agnostics, John Koessler saw a Catholic church on one end of the street and a Baptist on the other. In the no-man’s land between the two, this curious outside wondered about the God they worshipped—and began a lifelong search to comprehend the grace and mystery of God. A Stranger in the House of God addresses fundamental questions and struggles faced by spiritual seekers and mature believers. Like a contemporary Pilgrim’s Progress, it traces the author’s journey and explores his experiences with both charismatic and evangelical Christianity. It also describes his transformation from religious outsider to ordained pastor. John Koessler provides a poignant and often humorous window into the interior of the soul as he describes his journey from doubt and struggle with the church to personal faith

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is designed to introduce the reader to many of the major narratives of the Bible, beginning with Abraham and other patriarchs, Israel’s Judges and Prophets, Jesus Christ, Paul, and John’s Seven Churches in Revelation. This covers considerable geography from Iran (biblical Persia) and Iraq in the east, through Jordan, Egypt, Syria, Israel, and Lebanon, to Turkey, Greece, and Italy in the west. It is not a theological text, but mostly the Turkington’s travel logs from 1991–2004 when they had the opportunity to visit almost all known Bible sites. Often their experiences were funny, exciting, frustrating, sometimes daring, and on occasion a little dangerous. Together, with their two children, they drove through fields, along tracks, through fruit groves and shallow rivers, and into some quite intimidating areas. They were pummeled by stones several times, robbed three times, stopped by police or army five times, and had many exciting border crossings (including one where they were within seconds of being shot by Israeli border guards,) and they had one car accident—this all to experience these Bible lands.

Book Beautiful Outlaw

    Book Details:
  • Author : John Eldredge
  • Publisher : FaithWords
  • Release : 2011-10-12
  • ISBN : 1455516821
  • Pages : 156 pages

Download or read book Beautiful Outlaw written by John Eldredge and published by FaithWords. This book was released on 2011-10-12 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reading the Gospels without knowing the personality of Jesus is like watching television with the sound turned off. The result is a dry, two dimensional person doing strange, undecipherable things. In BEAUTIFUL OUTLAW, John Eldredge removes the religious varnish to help readers discover stunning new insights into the humanity of Jesus. He was accused of breaking the law, keeping bad company, heavy drinking. Of being the devil himself. He was so compelling and dangerous they had to kill him. But others loved him passionately. He had a sense of humor. His generosity was scandalous. His anger made enemies tremble. He'd say the most outrageous things. He was definitely not the Jesus of the stained glass. In the author's winsome, narrative approach, he breaks Jesus out of the typical stereotypes, just as he set masculinity free in his book, Wild at Heart. By uncovering the real Jesus, readers are welcomed into the rich emotional life of Christ. All of the remarkable qualities of Jesus burst like fireworks with color and brilliance because of his humanity. Eldredge goes on to show readers how they can experience this Jesus in their lives every day. This book will quicken readers' worship, and deepen their intimacy with Jesus.
