Is prayer primarily about asking God to meet my needs and the needs of others? Is God's answer to my prayer based on the degree of my humility and sincerity? Is answered prayer a sovereign decision of God or do I have the ability to influence Him? Clear, scriptural answers to these questions and more could significantly change the way you pray. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Differentiated book- It has a historical context with research of the time-Three Prayers and Sermons by Jonathan Swift.Jonathan Swift (Dublin, November 30, 1667-ibid., October 19, 1745) was an Irish satirical writer. His main work is Gulliver's Travels, ? which constitutes one of the most bitter, and at the same time satirical, criticisms that have been written against society and the human condition. A member of the Scriblerus Club, he anonymously published or used the pseudonyms of Lemuel Gulliver, Isaac Bickerstaff and M. B. Drapier to hide his satires. Of English parents, a modest lawyer and a housewife, Jonathan Swift was born in Dublin and was the posthumous son of his father, since he died shortly before he was born; all he owed to the charity of his uncle Godwin, who was in charge of educating the boy in the midst of great poverty, since his mother left the boy and returned to England. His family was related to numerous writers, especially his cousin John Dryden, who died in 1700, and the former Francis Godwin (1562-1633), and further and collaterally with Walter Raleigh and William Davenant; Even so, of all these only a utopian and satirical writer like Francis Godwin left some mark on his work. He learned to read at age three and liked to do it out loud, especially snippets from Plutarch.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Practical Strategies for Gospel-Centered Children's Ministry When building a children's ministry at a church, there is so much to consider: Which curriculum should we use? How many volunteers do we need? How do we keep parents in the loop? And that's before we run into stalled check-in computers, missing activity sheets, and floors that need to be vacuumed. While all of the tasks of children's ministry are important, leaders can get easily distracted with the everyday work of doing ministry and lose sight of the main focus—the gospel. Writing from personal ministry experience, Jared Kennedy shares a four-fold approach for gospel-centered, missional children's ministry: hospitality, teaching, discipleship, and mission. This practical resource covers a variety of topics ranging from creating child protection policies to putting together lesson plans to catechism, helpful for children's ministers and volunteers alike as they disciple children with the powerful message of the gospel. Applicable: Includes questions for reflection and evaluation Helps Leaders Disciple the Next Generation: Features advice for sending kids and their families on mission Ideal for Nursery–5th Grade Teachers and Leaders: A practical and helpful resource for children's ministries Published in Conjunction with the Gospel Coalition (TGC)

Book excerpt: Book Excerpt: ...ounty to mankind? What is there that can give a generous spirit more pleasure and complacency of mind than to consider that he is an instrument of doing much good; that great numbers owe to him, under God, their subsistence, their safety, their health, and the good conduct of their lives? The wickedest man upon earth takes a pleasure in doing good to those he loves; and therefore surely a good Christian, who obeys our Saviour's commands of loving all men, cannot but take delight in doing good even to his enemies. God, who gives all things to all men, can receive nothing from any; and those among men who do the most good and receive the fewest returns do most resemble the Creator; for which reason St. Paul delivers it as a saying of our Saviour, that "it is more blessed to give than receive." By this rule, what must become of those things which the world values as the greatest blessings--riches, power, and the like- -when our Saviour plainly determines that the best way to make them blessings is to part with t...
