Book excerpt: An empowering and uplifting guide from THREE legendary Lionesses, Ella Toone, Georgia Stanway and Nikita Parris. Lionesses are brave. They fiercely look out for one another. They stick together. And they will roar as loud as they need to, to make sure their voices are heard. Ella, Georgia and Nikita have learned so much from football that can apply to everyday life, from joining a new squad, to stepping up to take a penalty, and getting back up when life (or a footballer) knocks you down. With the true stories of how they got to where they are today and tons of practical tips, this book will help young readers embrace who they are, ignite their spark, go after their goals and find their team - because no Lioness is complete without their pride. Are you ready to embrace your inner Lioness? Written with Sunday Times bestselling author Cheryl Rickman

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: THE HABITAT Nairobi National Park lies to the south-southeast of the capital of Kenya, Nairobi, where the Athi Plains meet the Eastern escarpment of the Rift Valley. These plains form part of the semi-arid highland plateau lying between the coast and the Rift Valley. Both the city itself, and the Park bordering it, are a meeting place of two generally distinct types of landscape and climate. While to the east-southeast are semi-arid plains with grasslands and scattered trees, the western-north western parts are higher, hilly, cooler, more humid and support lush forests. The combination of latitude-a little over one degree south of the Equator -and altitude-average of 1600 m. (5000-5500 ft.) -combine to give Nairobi a most equable climate where the temperature varies during the year between about 11 degrees and 27 degrees centigrade (mean minimum and mean maximum for eight years). However, considerable changes are usually experienced within each day and a rise from 14 degrees C at 0600 hours to 22 degrees at 1100 hours is not unusual. Nairobi Park has a unique concentration of wild animals living in their natural habitat less than 10 km. from the centre of a modern city of half a million people. The only interference with the natural course of events in the Park is that normally required for the proper management of a game park, such as maintenance of roads and dams, and, in this particular case, partial fencing towards the city.

Book excerpt: Elephant or Lions: The book is about the wild elephants and lions that are in declining, the biggest threat to then. The report on elephants and lions trophy hunting, reminds us that the problems elephants and lions face are actually much broader and more damaging than most people realize. Lion bones, which can substitute for tiger bones, are used in East Asian countries including China as medicinal remedies said to treat a wide range of ailments from insomnia to osteoporosis. The other parts of lions such as whiskers, fat and tails have always had a traditional value and use in many African nations as medicines, talismans and components of ceremonial and ritual practices. Before the lion never had any traditional value in China, but it’s an analog to the tiger so it seems to be acceptable. Illegal trade remains difficult because, despite lions’ declining populations, there is actually still a legal trade in lion bones. The things that most of us do not know are that the demand of lion’s bones is growing every day. Customs officials that are trying to block illegal shipments of ivory or rhino horn have started to notice lion parts nestled inside the same containers. The conservation world started to become increasingly nervous about where the trade might be headed and what impact it would have on wild populations. As the price of bones is rising steadily, some breeders have started slaughtering their own lions, without obtaining a permit or getting a vet to put the animal to sleep, says a fraud inspector. The South African Department of Environmental Affairs has raised concerns that the demand for lion bones could potentially threaten South Africa’s 2,000 wild lions. On the other hand TB on the lions looks like malaria and know is killing more lions than before. Lions are thought to contract TB from infected prey species, especially buffalo, being exposed to the bacterium that causes the disease when they eat infected animals. And all the questions you may have about elephants and lions.

Book The four lives of Robinson Appleson

This book was released on 2023-01-15 with total page 283 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Can a killer turn a new leaf? Robinson Appleson is one lucky bastard! We get only one life. He has had four so far. And it's not like he deserved them, either. In his first life, he was a Porcian prince who was known to devour humans. His obsession with eternal youth and beauty made him addicted to the taste of human flesh, much to the dismay and terror of his kingdom's subjects. Reborn as a rich kid in Beverly Hills, California, he has no recollection of his past life and thinks of himself as a blessing to mankind. He holds no respect or feelings for women and treats them like objects. It leads to everyone avoiding him like the plague. His third life is different, as he is born as a jaguar in the African savannah. Filled with new wisdom, he fights against his instinct to hunt while the smell of prey drives him mad with hunger. His last life lands him in the body of a beautiful but poverty-stricken Black woman who was also unfaithful! Each of his lives has been different from the last, except that it looked as if he was doomed to make the same blunders. The woman he loves dies in his arms in all of his lives, because of a curse placed on his family. Having been selfish and cruel in his previous lives, he attempts to change this forever. Using a range of tricks learned from Oscar, his mentor, he hopes to suppress and destroy the evil lurking inside him. Would he manage to escape from his fate?
