Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This richly illustrated textbook delivers a functional vision of dog behaviors. Daily applicable, it offers practical solutions for canine behavioral care with a consistently medical approach to disorders. Readers find a thorough introduction to factors influencing behavior, the canine neuroanatomy and physiology, psychopathologies, as well as treatment options. Drawing on the latest studies in neuroscience, ethology, psychology, and psychiatry, as well as the clinical experience of its expert authors, this guide is both comprehensive and accessible. Multiple clinical case studies illustrate and support presented details on medication and therapies. Behavioral pathology is one of the main challenges in veterinary medicine. Not only are they a cause of suffering for the animal, but they can also affect the quality of the relationship with the pet owners or pose a danger to society. Hence, treatment of these behavioral disorders requires an integrative approach to canine health and well-being. The book's easy-to-access and descriptive structure allows many audiences to understand a subject area that is all too often considered complex. It addresses veterinary students, practitioners, and future expert veterinarians seeking approach to deep knowledge, as well as all other dog professionals curious to discover a complementary view with respect for the animal and owner.

Download or read book Bruce Gilden Lost and Found written by and published by Editions Xavier Barral. This book was released on 2019-11-19 with total page 164 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the thick of New York: Bruce Gilden raw and unseen After recently moving house, Bruce Gilden discovered hundreds of contact prints and negatives in his personal archives, from work undertaken in New York, his native city, between 1978 and 1984. From these thousands of images, most of which are new even to their author, Gilden has selected around a hundred. Extending from the desire to revisit the work of his youth, this historic archive constitutes an inestimable treasure. An extraordinary New York is portayed here, revealing an unknown facet of Gilden's oeuvre. With all the energy of a young man in his thirties, and with no flash (before Gilden became famous for its almost systematic use), Gilden launched an assault on New York in a visibly tense atmosphere. In this extraordinary gallery of portraits, the compositions--mostly horizontal--simmer with energy, bursting with the most diverse characters, as though Gilden intended to include within the frame everything that caught his eye. In this book, we see the guiding tropes of the work that was to make Gilden famous: sustained movement and tension, unrivalled spirit, and an instinctive and irreverent affection for his subjects, perfectly in cahoots with his city. Bruce Gilden (1946) is a street photographer from Brooklyn, New York. Over the years he has produced long and detailed photographic projects in New York, Haiti, France, Ireland, India, Russia, Japan, England and America. Gilden has published 18 monographs, among them Facing New York (1992), Bleus (1994), Haiti (1996, European Publishers Award for Photography); After the Off (1999), Go (2000), Coney Island (2002), A Beautiful Catastrophe (2004), Foreclosures (2013) and A Complete Examination of Middlesex (2014).

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This chapter summarizes the literature on the anatomical and functional organization of the cuttlefish brain, with a focus on the structures involved in learning and memory processes (namely the vertical lobe system and optic lobes). Also, different learning paradigms that are commonly used in Sepia officinalis are described with, when possible, their neural correlates. Recent work on the early development of brain and memory is also reviewed. Some research directions to follow in the field of neurobiology of learning and memory in cuttlefish are suggested to better understand the extraordinary behavioral plasticity of these sophisticated invertebrates.

Download or read book Ethologie written by Raymond Campan and published by De Boeck. This book was released on 2002 with total page 737 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

A new subchapter on tarantulas will appeal especially to tarantula keepers and breeders. The highly accessible text is supplemented by exceptional, high-quality photographs, many of them originals, and detailed diagrams. It will be of interest to arachnologists, entomologists, and zoologists, as well as to academics, students of biology, and the general reader curious about spiders.

Download or read book Conceptual Basis Formalisations and Parameterization of the Stics Crop Model written by Nadine Brisson and published by Editions Quae. This book was released on 2009-01-19 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The STICS crop model has been developed since 1996 at INRA in collaboration with other research and technical institutes. The model syntheses, illustrates and concretizes an important part of the French agronomic knowledge as a point of view on the field and cropping systems working. The formalisations of the STICS crop model presented in this book can be considered as references used in the framework of crop sciences. The book arrangement relies on the way the model designs the crop-soil system functioning, each chapter being devoted to a set of important functions such as growth initiation, yield onset, water uptake, transformation of organic matter etc. One chapter deals with the cropping system and long term simulations and the final chapter is about the involvement of the user in terms of option choices and parameterization. If this book is mainly intended for scientists who use the STICS model, it can also be useful for agronomists, crop modellers, students and technicians looking for elementary formalizations of the crop-soil system functioning.
