This book was released on 2014-10-23 with total page 588 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My book describe my own real legal mental case which took place when I was working as not-ethnic medical doctor/ general practitioner for the NHS in a small town in a civilized western European country. The Book describe how the legal part of my case was fabricated and run for several years by a single arrogant and dishonest local police officer with the help from few arrogant and racists social workers from the local welfare and a biased police court magistrate after 10 years of my practice because of my disagreements, disputes and quarrels with them defending the equal legal and social rights of large number my patients from the Middle East and Turkey and large number of ethnics from street gangs who were poor needy social clients of the welfare with very hard complicated psycho-social legal problems . Also my Book describes how the mental part of my case was created, describing how my mental evaluations were made by biased, incompetent, racist and dishonest evaluators using shockingly wrong methods and procedures which totally deviated from all known international guidelines and recommendations for making proper and fair mental assessment of a defendant for court. I explain my case and my claims reference to published international methods and standards. My Book shows how my incorrectly obtained mental findings were presented and explained in courts only by the police prosecutor where the judging people and the prosecutor were totally blank even in basal psychology and psychiatry and mental evaluations, when the evaluators were absent during the trials . My case shows, that even in a civilized European democratic country corruption and racial behaviors are found and practiced by the authorities and the common public towards the minorities or specific types of people and their social and legal rights. My case shows how mental evaluations and their findings can be abused by all parts involved in a legal mental case to achieve specific purposes .My case shows how the bias, the incompetence and the dishonest behaviors of the mental evaluators are added to the unreliability, invalidity and the inaccuracies found in present time psychological tests and the mental diagnostic systems can magnify the harmful consequences on the evaluated when mental evaluations are abused to achieve specific purposes. Download or read book The Case for Contention written by Jonathan Zimmerman and published by University of Chicago Press. This book was released on 2017-04-24 with total page 129 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the fights about the teaching of evolution to the details of sex education, it may seem like American schools are hotbeds of controversy. But as Jonathan Zimmerman and Emily Robertson show in this insightful book, it is precisely because such topics are so inflammatory outside school walls that they are so commonly avoided within them. And this, they argue, is a tremendous disservice to our students. Armed with a detailed history of the development of American educational policy and norms and a clear philosophical analysis of the value of contention in public discourse, they show that one of the best things American schools should do is face controversial topics dead on, right in their classrooms. Zimmerman and Robertson highlight an aspect of American politics that we know all too well: We are terrible at having informed, reasonable debates. We opt instead to hurl insults and accusations at one another or, worse, sit in silence and privately ridicule the other side. Wouldn’t an educational system that focuses on how to have such debates in civil and mutually respectful ways improve our public culture and help us overcome the political impasses that plague us today? To realize such a system, the authors argue that we need to not only better prepare our educators for the teaching of hot-button issues, but also provide them the professional autonomy and legal protection to do so. And we need to know exactly what constitutes a controversy, which is itself a controversial issue. The existence of climate change, for instance, should not be subject to discussion in schools: scientists overwhelmingly agree that it exists. How we prioritize it against other needs, such as economic growth, however—that is worth a debate. With clarity and common-sense wisdom, Zimmerman and Robertson show that our squeamishness over controversy in the classroom has left our students woefully underserved as future citizens. But they also show that we can fix it: if we all just agree to disagree, in an atmosphere of mutual respect.

Shane West was used to being the only wolf shifter at the Stockton Police Department. His enhanced senses helped him do his job efficiently and he prided himself on keeping control of his animal instincts. Gay from the first day he'd shifted, he also expected to live his long life alone, and provided it meant that he didn't have to come into contact with any of his ex-pack, he told himself he was happy. And he was. Until Dimitri Polst was assigned as his new partner. Confirmed ladies man, Dimitri Polst knew Shane from before he'd ever shifted into his wolf form. Two years older and from the same pack, Dimitri had made it his teenage mission to bring as much pain and humiliation to pretty-boy Shane as possible. But years later, he searched for that pretty boy, now all grown up, with a completely different mission in mind. Being fated mates was hard enough, but when one man is straight and the other one has no reason to trust, then sparks are bound to fly. Add in a serial killer who is making inroads into the gay population and a possible shifter involvement, and Shane and Dimitri have a lot of thing to overcome before they get their HEA.

Download or read book The Case for Degrowth written by Giorgos Kallis and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2020-09-29 with total page 76 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The relentless pursuit of economic growth is the defining characteristic of contemporary societies. Yet it benefits few and demands monstrous social and ecological sacrifice. Is there a viable alternative? How can we halt the endless quest to grow global production and consumption and instead secure socio-ecological conditions that support lives worth living for all? In this compelling book, leading experts Giorgos Kallis, Susan Paulson, Giacomo D’Alisa and Federico Demaria make the case for degrowth - living well with less, by living differently, prioritizing wellbeing, equity and sustainability. Drawing on emerging initiatives and enduring traditions around the world, they advance a radical degrowth vision and outline policies to shape work and care, income and investment that avoid exploitative and unsustainable practices. Degrowth, they argue, can be achieved through transformative strategies that allow societies to slow down by design, not disaster. Essential reading for all concerned citizens, policy-makers, and students, this book will be an important contribution to one of the thorniest and most pressing debates of our era.
