Download or read book So You Don t Want to Go to Church Anymore written by Wayne Jacobsen and published by Windblown Media. This book was released on 2008-09-02 with total page 154 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jake Colsen, an overworked and disillusioned pastor, happens into a stranger who bears an uncanny resemblance (in manner) to the apostle John. A number of encounters with John as well as a family crisis lead Jake to a new understanding of what his life should be like: one filled with faith bolstered by a steady, close relationship with the God of the universe. Facing his own disappointment with Christianity, Jake must forsake the habits that have made his faith rote and rediscover the love that captured his heart when he first believed. Compelling and intensely personal, So You Don't Want to Go to Church Anything relates a man's rebirth from performance-based Christianity to a loving friendship with Christ that affects all he does, thinks, and says. As John tells Jake, "There is nothing the Father desires for you more than that you fall squarely in the lap of his love and never move from that place for the rest of your life."

Book Thinking Outside the Box

  • ISBN :
  • Pages : 70 pages

Download or read book Thinking Outside the Box written by Charles Keen and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2021-04-20 with total page 70 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dr. Charles Keen has written a very enlightening book which is greatly needed to help to have a world view of missions. From the earliest days of his great ministry, he has had a heart for world evangelism and church planting. The author's description of our failure to have a world mission for taking the gospel to the ends of the earth is enough to break the hearts of God's people. In the beginning of his book, Thinking Outside The Box, the author describes some of our failures to evangelize the world. Half of the world has never seen a Bible and has never heard the gospel presented to them. Half of the world is dying and going to hell because they know of no other choice. Half of the world knows nothing of the coming of Jesus. The author cites what is probably the greatest command Jesus ever gave to us. The great commission is that command to take the gospel to the whole world. The author has probably been responsible for printing more Bibles than any man I know. Keen's His burden is to get the gospel to the ends of the earth and this book cites the need for change if we are to succeed in getting that done. This change will be a vision to go from a vision of mission fields to a vision of taking the gospel to the ends of the earth. Mission conferences must be changed from a short mission conference to a mission conference that never ends. The worldview of sending out the gospel must permeate the heart and mind of pastors and churches all the time! We must not be afraid of making a change from a restricted view of the world to a view of including every nation in the whole world! This is what Jesus told us to do. I have been in the gospel ministry for sixty-eight years and I testify that I have seen many thousands of souls saved. I visited many nations and preached there but I must say that this book has changed my view. This book has had a tremendous impact on my view of missions. It has helped me to come to a better view of the world, a worldview from the heart! Dr. Tom Malone Sr., President/Founder Midwestern Baptist College Pontiac, Michigan

Book God on Your Own

Book excerpt: In this spiritual self-help memoir, a former Roman Catholic monk recounts his journey away from religion toward his own personal spirituality. After spending eight years in a monastery, Joseph Dispenza walked away from his life as a monk—and the religion of his youth—in search of a different kind of spiritual path. Outside the confines of organized religion, Dispenza was able to create a spiritual life that gives direction and meaning to all he does and all he is. God on Your Own is a book for anyone who has left (or is thinking of leaving) organized religion but wants to continue on a spiritual path. Dispenza, a noted author and retreat leader, provides a spiritual road map for those who want to make the transition from conventional religion toward a richer and more satisfying direct relationship with the Source, without rules, dogmas, or doctrines. Throughout the book, Dispenza offers wise, compassionate guidance, speaking as one seeker to another. He has made this journey himself, gleaning spiritual truth from across traditions and practices.

Book Jesus Outside the Lines

  • ISBN : 1496400933
  • Pages : 289 pages

Download or read book Jesus Outside the Lines written by Scott Sauls and published by Tyndale House Publishers. This book was released on 2015 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Whether the issue of the day on Twitter, Facebook, or cable news is our sexuality, political divides, or the perceived conflict between faith and science, today's media pushes each one of us into a frustrating clash between two opposing sides. Polarizing, us-against-them discussions divide us and distract us from thinking clearly and communicating lovingly with others. Scott Sauls, like many of us, is weary of the bickering and is seeking a way of truth and beauty through the conflicts. Jesus Outside the Lines presents Jesus as this way. Scott shows us how the words and actions of Jesus reveal a response that does not perpetuate the destructive fray. Jesus offers us a way forward--away from harshness, caricatures, and stereotypes. In Jesus Outside the Lines, you will experience a fresh perspective of Jesus, who will not (and should not) fit into the sides.

Book Outside In

  • Author : Will Bissett
  • Publisher : WestBow Press
  • Release : 2016-07-13
  • ISBN : 1512742015
  • Pages : 203 pages

Download or read book Outside In written by Will Bissett and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2016-07-13 with total page 203 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A must-read for anyone seeking to truly understand the relationship between the Christian faith and UK society. Outside In explores the perceptions of the Christian faith by those who do not regularly attend church. Based on postgraduate research conducted during 2013 (extracts of which were published on the Willow Creek UK website), the book is split into two parts. One part provides the methodology and detailed analysis for those who wish to fully understand the actual research and findings, whilst the other part explores the key findings and implications in an easily digestible format, and offers some suggestions for consideration. In the UK, a majority (albeit declining) of the population identify as Christian, but a relatively small proportion are engaged in regular church-going. Why is this? Rather than rely on assumptions, the research asked the participants many questions, such as, what do they really think of the church? Why might they not find it helpful for their spiritual journey and daily life? What are the predominant perceptions, of church, Christianity, Christians, God, Jesus? Is the Christian message of grace being perceived in any significant way? The book explores what the participants thought of church, and outlines the range of opinions found from those who see it as a faith community through to others who simply view it as a foreboding building or institution. It also explores how perceptions vary across the generations. Part sociological and part theological; Outside In offers significant insight into how the church and the Christian faith are really viewed by those who do not regularly attend. This book provides a fantastic opportunity for churches to better understand how they are truly perceived, and therefore has significant implications for how they could better relate to, and communicate with, their local communities, as well as wider UK society.
