Download or read book Thermal Maturity of Carboniferous and Permian Rocks of the Sverdrup Basin Canadian Arctic Archipelago written by J. Utting and published by Geological Survey of Canada. This book was released on 1989 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The thermal maturity of outcrop and subsurface core samples from Carboniferous and Permian rocks of Sverdrup Basin was assessed by using the Thermal Alteration Index (pollen and spore colour), the conodont Colour Alteration Index, and reflective of vitrinite and bitumen. These data indicate significant thermal maturity trends within the basin, which have considerable relevance to the hydrocarbon potential. --
Download or read book Palynostratigraphy of Permian and Lower Triassic Rocks Sverdrup Basin Canadian Arctic Archipelago written by J. Utting and published by . This book was released on 1994 with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Study to establish a palynological zonation that could be used to correlate Permian and Lower Triassic strata within the Sverdrup Basin. Nine outcrop sections were sampled, including all the type sections of the formations studied. Material was collected from both shallow and deep basinal facies to make palynological correlations across lithofacies boundaries. The ages of the three palynological zones established were based mainly on ages determined from marine macro and microfaunal groups, especially ammonoids, brachiopods, and conodonts. Palynostratigraphic comparisons were made with other parts of the world, including the Kazanian stratotype of Russia.

This book was released on 1991 with total page 581 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fourteen chapters discuss regional stratigraphy by time intervals from Precambrian to Quaternary, while other chapters describe the geography, geomorphology, tectonics, geophysical characteristics, and resources of the region. A summary chapter includes geologic maps, structural cross-sections, a geotectonic correlation chart, a gravity map, and a location map for exploration wells in the Arctic Islands and northern Greenland. A wealth of additional information is contained on the nine accompanying plates.

Download or read book Contributions to Canadian Paleontology written by Thomas E. Bolton and published by [Calgary] : Geological Survey of Canada. This book was released on 1991 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains papers describing many different fossils from lacalities in eastern, western and northern Canada. These studies provide a basis for the precise paleontological correlations necessary for accurate dating and analyses of the rocks that form the sedimentary basins of Canada. Abstracts are given for each paper.
