Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Specialist Periodical Reports provide systematic and detailed review coverage of progress in the major areas of chemical research. Written by experts in their specialist fields the series creates a unique service for the active research chemist, supplying regular critical in-depth accounts of progress in particular areas of chemistry. For over 90 years The Royal Society of Chemistry and its predecessor, the Chemical Society, have been publishing reports charting developments in chemistry, which originally took the form of Annual Reports. However, by 1967 the whole spectrum of chemistry could no longer be contained within one volume and the series Specialist Periodical Reports was born. The Annual Reports themselves still existed but were divided into two, and subsequently three, volumes covering Inorganic, Organic and Physical Chemistry. For more general coverage of the highlights in chemistry they remain a 'must'. Since that time the SPR series has altered according to the fluctuating degree of activity in various fields of chemistry. Some titles have remained unchanged, while others have altered their emphasis along with their titles; some have been combined under a new name whereas others have had to be discontinued. The current list of Specialist Periodical Reports can be seen on the inside flap of this volume.

Book Manual For Theoretical Chemistry

Download or read book Manual For Theoretical Chemistry written by Dmitry Matyushov and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2020-12-23 with total page 373 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study guide aims at explaining theoretical concepts encountered by practitioners applying theory to molecular science. This is a collection of short chapters, a manual, attempting to walk the reader through two types of topics: (i) those that are usually covered by standard texts but are difficult to grasp and (ii) topics not usually covered, but are essential for successful theoretical research. The main focus is on the latter. The philosophy of this book is not to cover a complete theory, but instead to provide a set of simple study cases helping to illustrate main concepts. The focus is on simplicity. Each section is made deliberately short, to enable the reader to easily grasp the contents. Sections are collated in themed chapters, and the advantage is that each section can be studied separately, as an introduction to more in-depth studies. Topics covered are related to elasticity, electrostatics, molecular dynamics and molecular spectroscopy, which form the foundation for many presently active research areas such as molecular biophysics and soft matter physics. The notes provide a uniform approach to all these areas, helping the reader to grasp the basic concepts from a common set of theoretical tools.

Book Theoretical Chemistry Advances and Perspectives V3

Download or read book Theoretical Chemistry Advances and Perspectives V3 written by Henry Eyring and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Theoretical Chemistry: Advances and Perspectives, Volume 3 compiles studies that review all aspects of theoretical chemistry. This book begins by discussing the developments which have made the ab initio investigation of molecular ions feasible, followed by a treatment on classical equilibrium thermodynamics. The significant structure theory of liquids, structure of fluid 4He by means of zero and nonzero temperatures, and radial distribution function are also considered. This volume concludes with a description on various types of proton transfer reactions in water, explaining how the great speed of such reactions are intimately associated with the unusual hydrogen-bond structure that characterizes liquid water. This publication is valuable to theoretical chemists and students concerned with the mathematical description of chemistry.

Book Computational Quantum Chemistry

Download or read book Computational Quantum Chemistry written by Joseph J W McDouall and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 2015-11-09 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Computational Quantum Chemistry presents computational electronic structure theory as practised in terms of ab initio waveform methods and density functional approaches. Getting a full grasp of the field can often prove difficult, since essential topics fall outside of the scope of conventional chemistry education. This professional reference book provides a comprehensive introduction to the field. Postgraduate students and experienced researchers alike will appreciate Joseph McDouall's engaging writing style. The book is divided into five chapters, each providing a major aspect of the field. Electronic structure methods, the computation of molecular properties, methods for analysing the output from computations and the importance of relativistic effects on molecular properties are also discussed. Links to the websites of widely used software packages are provided so that the reader can gain first hand experience of using the techniques described in the book.

Book A Journey Through the Realm of Theoretical Chemistry

Download or read book A Journey Through the Realm of Theoretical Chemistry written by Fereydoon Milani-nejad, PhD and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2015-11-24 with total page 106 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main goal of this book is to show how human behavior could be explained in terms of chemical laws. Chapter 1, Overview, is devoted to this task; subjects such as chemistry of mutual feelings, connection and its stability, love at first sight, fate and will, uplifting of the soul, dual personality, excited universe, and more are explained qualitatively on terms of chemical laws in this chapter. These concepts show that theoretical chemistry is readily and smoothly applicable to other disciplines, such as sociology, psychology, philosophy, social sciences, and even theology. As an example consider the following paragraph from chapter 3. There is a Beginning and there is an End. There exist an infinite number of pathways between the Beginning and the End. No matter what route one chooses, the End will be the same. Among the infinite number of pathways there is one pathway, called reversible pathway (Heavenly way) with maximum efficiency. There is another pathway for which the efficiency is zero (Hell way). All other pathways are combinations of these two extreme cases. The closer the chosen path is to the ideal path, the more rewarding the journey will be.

Book Trends in Applied Theoretical Chemistry

Download or read book Trends in Applied Theoretical Chemistry written by L.A. Montero and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present volume gathers a series of selected and updated contributions presented at the International Symposium on Applied Theoretical Chemistry held in Havana, Cuba, July 2-6, 1990. This Symposium was intended to illustrate current applications of Theoretical Chemistry in different fields of Physical Chemistry. Theoretical Chemistry has become a powerful tool of investigation in all areas of Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Physical Chemistry. The plenary lectures given in the Symposium were classified into four topics: Atom-Surface Interactions, Chemical Reaction Mechanisms, Molecular Structure and Properties, and Molecular Spectroscopy. We retain the same division in this volume. Over 60 scientists from Cuba, Finland, France, Germany, Great-Britain, Hungary, Italy, Spain, Sweden, USA, USSR, and Venezuela participated in the Conference. Twenty plenary lectures were given by distinguished members of the international scientific community. Furthermore, a large number of posters were presented by younger experts in various fields of Theoretical Chemistry. This International Symposium was organized by the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Havana and the Cuban Chemical Society. It was an opportunity to bring together in Havana several outstanding scientists from various countries of the world. Havana is worldwide renown for its wonderful climate, the hospitality of its inhabitants, and the proximity of beautiful touring resorts.
