Book Physical Chemistry Experimental and Theoretical

Download or read book Physical Chemistry Experimental and Theoretical written by G. Van Praagh and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2015-11-19 with total page 319 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published in 1950, this textbook was intended for school students with the aim of providing an introductory understanding of chemistry. The book introduces physical chemistry through multiple and diverse experiments; each experiment designed to reinforce a new topic and reflect theorems, approaches and historical development. Notably, the treatment throughout is from the point of view of the kinetic-molecular theory rather than that of the laws of thermodynamics, whilst emphasis is also placed upon physico-chemical phenomena and their significance in various branches of science, such as metallurgy, chemical syntheses and mineralogy. There are twelve chapters in total, with chapter titles ranging from 'Atoms and molecules' to 'Mass action and the ionic dissociation theory'. Various diagrams and plate sections are also included for reference. This book will be of value to chemistry students and scholars as well as those interested in the history of education.

Book Theoretical Models and Experimental Approaches in Physical Chemistry

Download or read book Theoretical Models and Experimental Approaches in Physical Chemistry written by A. K. Haghi and published by Apple Academic Press. This book was released on 2021-03-31 with total page 422 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This new volume presents an up-to-date review of modern materials and physical chemistry concepts, issues, and recent advances in the field. It presents a modern theoretical and experimental approach in applied physical chemistry. The volume discusses the developments of advanced chemical products and respective tools to characterize and predict the chemical material properties and behavior. With chapters from distinguished scientists and engineers from key institutions worldwide, the volume provides understanding through numerous examples and practical applications drawn from research and development chemistry. It emphasizes the intersection of chemistry, math, physics, and the resulting applications across many disciplines of science and explores applied physical chemistry principles in specific areas. At the same time, each topic is framed within the context of a broader more interdisciplinary approach, demonstrating its relationship and interconnectedness to other areas. This new book fills a gap within modeling texts, focusing on applications across a broad range of disciplines, and presents information on many important problems in physical chemistry. These investigations are accompanied by real-life applications in practice.

Book Introduction to Non equilibrium Physical Chemistry

Download or read book Introduction to Non equilibrium Physical Chemistry written by R. P. Rastogi and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2007-10-16 with total page 357 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Introduction to Non-equilibrium Physical Chemistry presents a critical and comprehensive account of Non-equilibrium Physical Chemistry from theoretical and experimental angle. It covers a wide spectrum of non-equilibrium phenomena from steady state close to equilibrium to non-linear region involving transition to bistability, temporal oscillations, spatio-temporal oscillations and finally to far from equilibrium phenomena such as complex pattern formation, dynamic instability at interfaces, Chaos and complex growth phenomena (fractals) in Physico-chemical systems. Part I of the book deals with theory and experimental studies concerning transport phenomena in membranes (Thermo-osmosis,Electroosmotic ) and in continuous systems (Thermal diffusion,Soret effect) close to equilibrium Experimental tests provide insight into the domain of validity of Non-equilibrium Thermodynamics ,which is the major theoretical tool for this region. Later developments in Extended Irreversible Thermodynamics and Non-equilibrium Molecular dynamics have been discussed in the Appendix. Part II deals with non-linear steady states and bifurcation to multistability, temporal and spatio- temporal oscillations (Chemical waves). Similarly Part II deals with more complex phenomena such as Chaos and fractal growth occurring in very far from equilibrium region. Newer mathematical techniques for investigating such phenomena along with available experimental studies. Part IV deals with analogous non-equilibrium phenomena occurring in the real systems (Socio-political, Finance and Living systems etc.) for which physico-chemical systems discussed in earlier chapters provide a useful model for development of theories based on non-linear science and science of complexity. The book provides a critical account of theoretical studies on non-equilibrium phenomenon from region close to equilibrium to far equilibrium Experimental studies have been reported which provide test of the theories and their limitations Impacts of the concepts developed in non-equilibrium Physical Chemistry in sociology, economics and other social science and living systems has been discussed

Book Theoretical Treatment of Large Molecules and Their Interactions

Download or read book Theoretical Treatment of Large Molecules and Their Interactions written by Zvonimir B. Maksic and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-07 with total page 462 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The French chemist Marcelin Berthelot put forward a classical and by now an often cited sentence revealing the quintessence of the chemical science: "La Chimie cree son objet". This is certainly true because the largest number of molecular compounds were and are continuously synthesized by chemists themselves. However, modern computational quantum chemistry has reached a state of maturity that one can safely say: "La Chimie Theorique cree son objet" as well. Indeed, modern theoretical chemistry is able today to provide reliable results on elusive systems such as short living species, reactive intermediates and molecules which will perhaps never be synthesized because of one or another type of instability. It is capable of yielding precious information on the nature of the transition states, reaction paths etc. Additionally, computational chemistry gives some details of the electronic and geometric structure of molecules which remain hidden in experimental examinations. Hence, it follows that powerful numerical techniques have substantially enlarged the domain of classical chemistry. On the other hand, interpretive quantum chemistry has provided a conceptual framework which enabled rationalization and understanding of the precise data offered either by experiment or theory. It is modelling which gives a penetrating insight into the chemical phenomena and provides order in raw experimental results which would otherwise represent just a large catalogue of unrelated facts.

Book A Text Book of Physical Chemistry Theory and Practice Classic Reprint

Download or read book A Text Book of Physical Chemistry Theory and Practice Classic Reprint written by Arthur Woolsey Ewell and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-09-16 with total page 386 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A d104-Book of Physical Chemistry Theory and Practice It is probable that the majority of students will have had already a few of the more distinctly physical experiments. Much of the general information regarding units, etc., in the Introduction and in the first part of several chapters is also probably familiar to some, but is included for completeness and for reference. Physical Chemistry apparatus which is understood with difficulty or the description of which is instructive, is described under the appropriate topic in the body of the book. All other apparatus, methods, etc., are described in the Intro duction. The Introduction also contains references to all the apparatus considered elsewhere, together with mathematical data, discussion of errors, etc., so that the book constitutes a complete manual for all ordinary work in Physical Chemistry.
