Book Linearized Supersonic Axially Symmetric Flow about Open nosed Bodies Obtained by Use of Stream Function

Download or read book Linearized Supersonic Axially Symmetric Flow about Open nosed Bodies Obtained by Use of Stream Function written by Franklin Moore and published by . This book was released on 1950 with total page 756 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First-order relations were obtained for attenuation of shock and flow deflection outward along the shock. These relations probably conform closely to physical fact, provided the entrance slope is small. These relations contain an error, but become exact as the radial coordinate approaches inifinity. The error is thus probably of the second order over the entire shock front.

Book Interaction Between the Spars of Semimonocoque Wings with Cutouts

Download or read book Interaction Between the Spars of Semimonocoque Wings with Cutouts written by Nicholas John Hoff and published by . This book was released on 1947 with total page 536 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The stresses in the two spars of a model of a wing having three rectangular cutouts were calculated by the PIBAL method, a modification of Southwell's method of systematic relaxations. The model was built and tested in the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn Aeronautical Laboratories and the deflections and strains measured were compared with calculated values. The agreement was found to be satisfactory.

Book Internal Combustion Engine in Theory and Practice second edition revised Volume 2

Download or read book Internal Combustion Engine in Theory and Practice second edition revised Volume 2 written by Charles Fayette Taylor and published by MIT Press. This book was released on 1985-03-19 with total page 804 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This revised edition of Taylor's classic work on the internal-combustion engine incorporates changes and additions in engine design and control that have been brought on by the world petroleum crisis, the subsequent emphasis on fuel economy, and the legal restraints on air pollution. The fundamentals and the topical organization, however, remain the same. The analytic rather than merely descriptive treatment of actual engine cycles, the exhaustive studies of air capacity, heat flow, friction, and the effects of cylinder size, and the emphasis on application have been preserved. These are the basic qualities that have made Taylor's work indispensable to more than one generation of engineers and designers of internal-combustion engines, as well as to teachers and graduate students in the fields of power, internal-combustion engineering, and general machine design.

Book Ultralearning

Download or read book Ultralearning written by Scott H. Young and published by HarperCollins. This book was released on 2019-08-06 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Now a Wall Street Journal bestseller. Learn a new talent, stay relevant, reinvent yourself, and adapt to whatever the workplace throws your way. Ultralearning offers nine principles to master hard skills quickly. This is the essential guide to future-proof your career and maximize your competitive advantage through self-education. In these tumultuous times of economic and technological change, staying ahead depends on continual self-education—a lifelong mastery of fresh ideas, subjects, and skills. If you want to accomplish more and stand apart from everyone else, you need to become an ultralearner. The challenge of learning new skills is that you think you already know how best to learn, as you did as a student, so you rerun old routines and old ways of solving problems. To counter that, Ultralearning offers powerful strategies to break you out of those mental ruts and introduces new training methods to help you push through to higher levels of retention. Scott H. Young incorporates the latest research about the most effective learning methods and the stories of other ultralearners like himself—among them Benjamin Franklin, chess grandmaster Judit Polgár, and Nobel laureate physicist Richard Feynman, as well as a host of others, such as little-known modern polymath Nigel Richards, who won the French World Scrabble Championship—without knowing French. Young documents the methods he and others have used to acquire knowledge and shows that, far from being an obscure skill limited to aggressive autodidacts, ultralearning is a powerful tool anyone can use to improve their career, studies, and life. Ultralearning explores this fascinating subculture, shares a proven framework for a successful ultralearning project, and offers insights into how you can organize and exe - cute a plan to learn anything deeply and quickly, without teachers or budget-busting tuition costs. Whether the goal is to be fluent in a language (or ten languages), earn the equivalent of a college degree in a fraction of the time, or master multiple tools to build a product or business from the ground up, the principles in Ultralearning will guide you to success.

Book Dynamics in Action

    Book Details:
  • Author : Alicia Juarrero
  • Publisher : MIT Press
  • Release : 2002-01-25
  • ISBN : 9780262600477
  • Pages : 306 pages

Download or read book Dynamics in Action written by Alicia Juarrero and published by MIT Press. This book was released on 2002-01-25 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is the difference between a wink and a blink? The answer is important not only to philosophers of mind, for significant moral and legal consequences rest on the distinction between voluntary and involuntary behavior. However, "action theory"—the branch of philosophy that has traditionally articulated the boundaries between action and non-action, and between voluntary and involuntary behavior—has been unable to account for the difference. Alicia Juarrero argues that a mistaken, 350-year-old model of cause and explanation—one that takes all causes to be of the push-pull, efficient cause sort, and all explanation to be prooflike—underlies contemporary theories of action. Juarrero then proposes a new framework for conceptualizing causes based on complex adaptive systems. Thinking of causes as dynamical constraints makes bottom-up and top-down causal relations, including those involving intentional causes, suddenly tractable. A different logic for explaining actions—as historical narrative, not inference—follows if one adopts this novel approach to long-standing questions of action and responsibility.

Part II discusses the modeling of neurons and neural circuits on the basis of cellular and synaptic biophysics. Part III analyzes the role of plasticity in development and learning. An appendix covers the mathematical methods used, and exercises are available on the book's Web site.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: System-Level Synthesis deals with the concurrent design of electronic applications, including both hardware and software. The issue has become the bottleneck in the design of electronic systems, including both hardware and software, in several major industrial fields, including telecommunications, automotive and aerospace engineering. The major difficulty with the subject is that it demands contributions from several research fields, including system specification, system architecture, hardware design, and software design. Most existing book cover well only a few aspects of system-level synthesis. The present volume presents a comprehensive discussion of all the aspects of system-level synthesis. Each topic is covered by a contribution written by an international authority on the subject.
