References to important names, dates, and historical events have been found encoded in the book of Genesis. No individual could have known this informationfrom what grew in the garden of Eden to details of the Gulf War. Mystics and sages have long held that these codes existed, proving God's direct hand in all that was and is to be. Incredible? Yes. But some of today's greatest scientific minds have been unable as yet to disprove the codes. If the codes are genuine, they will forever change our view of God, faith, and our fate. Cracking the Bible Code explores the extraordinary possibilities and the furor surrounding the codes in a riveting story that is equal parts holy quest, Byzantine intrigue, and cutting-edge science.

Book Se Puede Saber Si Dios Existe

Download or read book Se Puede Saber Si Dios Existe written by Hector Avalos and published by Prometheus Books. This book was released on 2011-03 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This primer on biblical criticism and key problems in religion and philosophy is intended as an introduction to these complex subjects for Spanish-speaking laypersons with little or no prior scientific training in the area. Professor Avalos critically reviews the classic arguments for the existence of God, alleged miracles and faith-healing, the belief that the Bible is the inerrant word of God, problems of good and evil in the Bible, creation stories, biblical prophecy, the resurrection of Jesus, and many other topics. In the last part of the book, Avalos discusses the scientific worldview, especially as it impinges upon the question of the existence of God. A notes section allows readers to explore more deeply the areas touched on in the text; appendices provide information on the sources of many biblical stories and beliefs in Mesopotamian and other ancient Near Eastern cultures; and a final personal note briefly recounts the author''s experiences from his upbringing in fundamentalist Christianity to his current skeptical view. This informative volume is an excellent starting point for those who wish to explore with a minimum of resources basic questions in religion, philosophy, and biblical studies.

Book All God s Creatures

    Book Details:
  • Author : Daniel P. Horan
  • Publisher : Rowman & Littlefield
  • Release : 2020-07-07
  • ISBN : 1978701543
  • Pages : 267 pages

Download or read book All God s Creatures written by Daniel P. Horan and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2020-07-07 with total page 267 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The predominant “stewardship model” of creation is the result of an intentional effort to correct approaches that reinforce human sovereignty and the resulting environmental degradation. However, as All God’s Creatures argues, the stewardship model actually does not offer a correction but rather reinscribes many of the very same pitfalls. After close analysis of the stewardship model, this book identifies scriptural, theological, and philosophical sources to support the adoption of a “community of creation” paradigm. Drawing on postcolonial theory, this book proposes the concept of “planetarity” as a framework for conceiving the relationship between human and nonhuman creation, and the Creator, in a new way. This theoretical framework is grounded by a retrieval of the medieval Franciscan theological and philosophical tradition. The result is what can be called a postcolonial Franciscan theology of creation imagined in terms of planetarity, providing a constructive and nonanthropocentric response to the need for a new conceptualization of the doctrine of creation.

Download or read book The Rapture of God written by William Lloyd Newell and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2020-07-02 with total page 614 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a book offering Balthasar’s theological oeuvre as a kerygma of Christ’s love proclaimed theologically as Christ’s esthetics of glory in his mission to reinvent himself, the world and us as beauty and glory. Balthasar’s hypothesis is that there is true theology and there is false theology. For him, theology is the unique science across the methods of which the decision of faith cuts, and divides it into two halves that cannot be united to each other: a genuine theology, which presupposes faith and does its thinking within the nexus of Christ and the Church; and a false theology, which rejects faith as methodologically dubious and irresponsible, and subsumes the truth of the phenomenon which discloses itself, under an anthropological truth (however this may be understood). In William Newell’s book he deeply reflects on the radical thinking being done in Catholic theology since the 1940s in Europe and now in the United States. Each chapter, each excursus, each elision, ushers the reader towards consolations without previous causes, the essence of mysticism in its first stages. The book, as with true theology, is a ‘come and see’ beckoning the reader to an endless furtherance of the archetypal experience of Christ.

Book Repetition in the Bible

    Book Details:
  • Author : Giaocchino Cascione
  • Publisher :
  • Release : 2015-10-01
  • ISBN : 9780996612401

Download or read book Repetition in the Bible written by Giaocchino Cascione and published by . This book was released on 2015-10-01 with total page 424 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The primary goal of this book is to document repetition in the writings of Moses, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, and other biblical writers. Consequent goals are to learn the source, purpose, and configuration of this repetition. In addition, it is hoped that the reader will gain an understanding of the Bible's unique concept and application of repetition. This may be the first book to address the subject of repetition in both testaments of the Bible. In many respects this is also a book about the aesthetics of repetition in the Bible. As an archeological artifact, the Bible employs repetition as a highly developed Hebraic genre. In addition to analyzing the data, the reader has the opportunity to visualize the shape of repetition in the text.In order to support the claims in this volume, approximately 5,000 Scripture verses are quoted herein, which may represent little more than 1% of the possible repetition. All Hebrew and Greek quotations are translated into English for the lay reader. However, publishing the actual Hebrew and Greek was essential for the purpose of documentation. Readers conversant with these languages will want to see concrete evidence. Previous books by this author titled In Search of the Biblical Order, were published in 1987, and a significantly expanded second edition published in 2012. After 37 years of dealing with the subject, this volume arrives at an unexpected explanation for the data. The search for the biblical order was always a search for repetition in the Bible.

Book The Sacrament of Reconciliation

Download or read book The Sacrament of Reconciliation written by Andrew J. Cuschieri and published by . This book was released on 1992 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The central theme of the study is Christ as the sacrament of reconciliation of the human being with God. In light of this premise, the study is divided into two main parts. The first part concentrates on the human response to grace, thus personal justification. In this section different but related topics are studied: the human act and its limitations; the nature of sin in antithesis to the virtue of justice implanted in the human heart. The second part of the study takes care of the sacrament of reconciliation as understood in Catholic dogma. An historical survey of the sacrament brings into focus the teaching of the Fathers of the Church which was implemented by ecumenical and particular councils and codifications. The same historical survey prepares the reader for a better understanding of the canons on Penance. The canons of the Latin and of the astern Rite codes are presented with an explanation when necessary. Through the study of these canons it becomes clear that concern of the Church is to protect the sacredness and the dignity of the sacrament as well as the dignity of the penitent.
