Each case will have a separate chapter dedicated to it and we have tried to cover all established information regarding these crimes. Book The Annals of Unsolved Crime

Download or read book The Annals of Unsolved Crime written by Edward Jay Epstein and published by Melville House. This book was released on 2013-03-12 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of America’s most acclaimed investigative journalists re-investigates some of the most notorious and mysterious crimes of the last 200 years The beloved head of the UN dies in a tragic plane crash . . . witnesses unearthed years later suggest it wasn’t an accident. Theories behind the mysterious death of Marilyn Monroe change yearly, and some believe Jack the Ripper was a member of the royal family. History books say Hitler burned down the Reichstag—but did he? And who really organized the conspiracy to kill Abraham Lincoln? Acclaimed investigative journalist Edward Jay Epstein cut his teeth on one of the most notorious murder mysteries of the 20th century in his first book, Inquest: The Warren Commission and the Establishment of Truth, one of the first books on the assassination and an instant bestseller. His conclusion? The Commission left open too many questions. He examines those questions here, as well as some of the most famous “unsolved” or mysterious crimes of all time, coming to some startling conclusions. His method in each investigation is simple: outline what is known and unknown, and show the plausible theories of a case. Where more than one theory exists, he shows the evidence for and against each. And when something remains to be proved, he says as much. In The Annals of Unsolved Crime, Epstein re-visits his most famous investigations and adds dozens of new cases. From the Lindbergh kidnapping to the JonBenet Ramsey murder case, from the Black Dahlia murder to anthrax attacks on America, from the vanishing of Jimmy Hoffa to the case of Amanda Knox—Epstein considers three dozen high-profile crimes and their tangled histories and again proves himself one of our most penetrating journalists.

Book They Lost Their Heads

Download or read book They Lost Their Heads written by Jack Smith and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2015-02-03 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Gruesome Headless Unsolved Murders Cold cases are fascinating because they have all the ingredients of a nail-biting murder mystery. Except there's no ending. And what's a book without an ending except an endless source of frustration and speculation? It's even worse when the victim is unidentified. "Unknown" man/woman/ child murders send a chill through us and can even cause a little sadness. How could a person be so alone in the world that absolutely no one came forward to give them a name and a burial? This volume examines five instances of a single or serial killing involving victims who were beheaded by their killers: The Thames Torso Murders: Known as the "Thames Mysteries" or "Embankment Murders," this series of gruesome killings was overshadowed by the terror surrounding Jack the Ripper's crimes but were also very fascinating. The August 8, 1886 discovery of a decomposing male torso outside Wallingford, Connecticut. The victim was never identified, and a woman who claimed that she knew the whole story behind the murder committed suicide. The Mad Butcher of Kingsbury Run: Between 1935 and 1938, a still-unidentified serial killer murdered and dismembered at least twelve victims in Cleveland, Ohio. All but three remain unidentified. Eliot Ness, the man who was partly responsible for taking down Al Capone, headed the investigations. Beth Doe: On December 20, 1976, a young boy made a gruesome discovery on the banks of the Lehigh River in White Haven, Pennsylvania. The dismembered and mutilated remains of a young, white woman and her unborn child had been stuffed into three suitcases and thrown from a bridge along Interstate 80 over the Lehigh River. The February 28, 1983 discovery of the headless body of a little girl between the ages of 8 and 11, decomposing in an abandoned home on the north side of St. Louis, MO. Her head was never found. Despite heavy publicity, nobody identified her. What do these cases have in common, besides the fact that they are cold and involve headless, unidentified victims? Somebody got away with murder...

Book 10 Most Mysterious Deaths in America XX Century

Download or read book 10 Most Mysterious Deaths in America XX Century written by Jin Schofield and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2018-01-27 with total page 62 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Benjamin Franklin once said nothing in this world is set on stone but two things: death and taxes. Some evade taxpaying, but no one really gets to escape it completely. And the same goes with death. They are the two most inevitable difficulties one can encounter. Its burden is real and whether you are indirectly and directly affected, it has the capacity to bring you down. People die of different causes. When you ask someone how they want to die, many would say, "I want in my sleep. I want to when I am grey and old. I want to die in the time when I can say that I have my life." Of course that is the ideal setting for death; and people do not get to choose who they expire in this world. It happens. Some people are merely crossing the street, totally unaware that a speeding vehicle is oncoming and about to bring them to the grave. Some people find out too late, and they come face-to-face with death just as soon as they discover that they are terminally ill. Some people die too and it's unfortunate because even before they get to actually live, they discover they do not deserve it. In whatever context, death is sad-and then there's murder. Here is a preview of what you'll learn: - The Murder of Black Dahlia - The Splendid Cast of William Desmond Taylor's Murder - The Murder of 6-Year Old JonBenet Ramsey - The Disappearance and Death of Jimmy Hoffa - The Murder of the Grimes Sisters - The Murder of Amber Rene Hagerman - The Unsolved Mystery of Colonel Robert H. Hogan's Death - Murder of the Beautiful Cigar Girl, Mary Rogers - The Shooting of Tupac Shakur - Murder by the Zodiac Killer
