Book excerpt: From the bestselling author of the flower that went mad comes a new collection of poetry that focuses on the many things that people have been too afraid to open up about: grief, heartbreak and rejection, loneliness, depression and suicide, loss, and healing from trauma. the words i could never say allows you to feel alive again, to express and not be judged for once, and to inspire at least one more person next to you. Most importantly, it centers on the value of life and the power of hope. You've slowly surrendered yourself to all the misery around you. But there is something that you should know: the universe waits for your tears to fall just so that life could be given a new meaning and a new direction. Just as winter changes into spring, your fall will change into the greatest rise one day. There is beauty in your tears; there is hope in your suffering. Even if the entire world were to be set on fire, a drop of your tears would be enough to extinguish everything. Please know that. This collection is the light that many of us have been searching for all our lives but did not know where to find it.

Book excerpt: The book Bipolar Poetry : Erasing My Demons is a collection of a struggling young man's thoughts captured in intense rhymes. The words that the author found at both the highest and lowest points of his mental illness truly bring to light the inconsistent, ever changing realities that define the bipolar mind. The writer entangles the feelings of loss, love, faith, anger and doubt together in such a way that leaves you questioning good and evil, and the true clarity of either. Throughout the book the poems and prayers outline the writer's journey into the dark searching for light. Bipolar, or Manic Depressant, young adults are diagnosed more and more in the 21st century, and some extreme accounts of this irrational behavior have even resulted in violent disasters plaguing local and national television. Although the author of this book has never really violently hurt anyone, his rhymes emphasize some of the irrational thoughts that in some less fortunate cases to often result in these sometimes deadly tragedies. The author expressed the reasoning behind this book was to help people better comprehend the inconsistent thought patterns, and inner battles that so many with a mental illness face day in a day out. He also stated that even at his lowest he could never comprehend how some could use mental illness to excuse rape or murder, and he praised God he couldn't.

Book Bipolar Poems Before After Lithium

Download or read book Bipolar Poems Before After Lithium written by Gene Olson and published by Outskirts Press. This book was released on 2016-01-21 with total page 83 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fifty years have passed since Gene Olson spent many a lonely night on fire and security watch at the Guam Naval Transient Barracks. With long hours, no books or magazines, and only a lizard as company, he picked up a pen and paper and began writing poetry. Though once dead, these pages have been resurrected in his new book. Bipolar Poems: Before and After Lithium is a fascinating poetry collection that spans half a century. Some of the poems were written during Olson’s time in the military, before he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and treated with lithium, offering an interesting contrast with his work of later years. These poems are raw, courageous, compelling, and entertaining—shedding some much-needed light on the shadows of mental illness. I was trying to catch my ship The USS Tioga County (LST-1158), last seen somewhere in Vietnam waters. No one knew her exact whereabouts. In Guam I was assigned at the Naval Transient Barracks as an all night Fire and Security Watch. Once an hour I would walk through the barracks and then call a report to the OD, Officer of the Day. I would also collect orders from late sailors and assigned sleeping quarters etc. All through the night I had only one companion. A lizard was hiding behind a large oval clock. When a fly came near, he would slowly crawl out. His tongue was swift, the fly had no chance! With many hours, no book, no magazines, I picked up a pen and paper and started writing poetry. It was poetry only for myself. I never showed it to anyone. I never dreamed someday it would be published. Fifty years have passed since my poetry attempts started on the Guam Naval Transient Barracks. BIPOLAR POEMS BEFORE AND AFTER LITHIUM, was partly gathered over this time period. Though once dead, the pages have been resurrected. I sometimes wonder if these poems are worthy of print at all. Or if I’m just being a “Proud Peacock.” Time will tell.

Book excerpt: Alaska Lane's poetry took TikTok by storm, reaching millions with her words of comfort and light. Here she shares some of her most popular works in print alongside never before seen poems. Let her unspoken words carry you on a journey through the darkest nights of the soul and into the hope of the dawn: at the very root of it all, the truth is that i didn't know how to accept myself. i was never taught how to. i always felt painfully misunderstood like a star that accidentally fell to earth. labelled a mistake and torn apart until i had nothing left. i lost myself in a war i unwillingly fought against the world. there was nothing i could've done to make it okay or convince her there was a light waiting for her at the end of her pain. but although she's gone, although she can't read this, i tried to honor her memory through writing down what i had left of her. i made these pages into a place for her soul to rest. and i told the world all the things she wasn't able to convey. on her behalf, these are the words i'll never say.

These are the words I couldn’t turn into lyrics for once, but rather turned them into part pain, part poetry. painful, positive, powerful, poetry.
