Book The Prodigal s Wilderness When the wrong Path Really Is the Right Path

Download or read book The Prodigal s Wilderness When the wrong Path Really Is the Right Path written by Sue White and published by . This book was released on 2018-12-21 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: PARABLE OF TRANSFORMATION: Much has been written regarding Luke Chapter 15 and there's been a great debate regarding which theme(s) should be considered and which one(s) ignored; however, this book will take a different approach by viewing it as a parable of transformation. The wilderness (or desert) is the place where transformations occur. As you read through the Bible, you'll see that God had many of the heroes of the faith participate in their own wilderness adventures, for example: Moses and the Israelites, David, Elijah, John the Baptist and even Jesus. They were all transformed by their desert experiences. The desert is God's preferred learning laboratory for believers. All believers will likely spend some time in the wilderness, in God's "boot camp." Some will enroll multiple times. But, the bottom line is this: God is still in control and he has a plan to conform you to his image (Rom. 12:2) so that he can have greater fellowship with you. God is sovereign even when you're in the midst of a wilderness experience and feeling scared, confused or overwhelmed. The wilderness may seem like it's the "wrong" path, that you've gotten lost or strayed from God, but he can redeem even the most crooked path and use all of your experiences along the way for good (Rom. 8:28).In the end, the "right" path ultimately brings you closer to God whereas the wrong path ultimately takes you further away from him. You can't really tell until you get to the end of the path. People in your life may be critical of your life choices, but in reality, they may not be seeing God's hand at work in your life, invisibly, behind the scenes. Consequently, you need to be true to yourself and trust God to bring you home, and he will!

For just as the powerful buck on the front cover matured from a fawn like the one above, so timid Christians can, by diligent study, mature into confident and powerful witnesses for Jesus Christ. Written by a retired engineer and former atheist with 55 years of experience studying and photographing deer, the book weaves together biblical passages, photography and deer stories into parables that biblically unpack a rich and compelling compendium of the reformed understanding of Scripture. Parables of the Deer is also a succinct, intellectually robust apologetic and evangelistic resource that will equip Christians to become better and bolder witnesses. Even atheists, agnostics and adherents of other religions, who sincerely desire to plumb the depths of Christianity’s timeless truths, will find Parables of the Deer to be a comprehensive exposition of Christianity that will, by God’s gracious providence, result in many coming to saving faith in Jesus Christ.

John Ruskin, the famous art critic, didn't believe that ladies could paint before he met Lilias. He changed his mind after he met her and believed that if she would give her life to painting she could become the greatest painter of the nineteenth century. Ruskin believed that if she would devote herself to art "she would be the greatest living painter and do things that would be immortal. " He was unhappy that she was spending so much time on the streets of London, helping with the YWCA, when he thought she ought to be painting. Lilias, however, decided to give up her career in art in order to serve God. She always remained a good friend of Ruskin's though, and they wrote many letters when she was in Algeria. She also wrote several books - beautifully illustrated by herself, including: Parables of the Cross (1894), Parables of the Christ-Life (1899), and a book for Sufi Muslims, The Way of the Sevenfold Secret.

Book excerpt: God created a game - it's called The Game of Life. Planet Earth is the playing field, the 10 love commandments are the rules, and we humans are the players who can win or lose. The game is played by two teams, like the game of football. One team's head coach is Jesus and the other team's head coach is Satan. All of us on earth are playing for one of these two teams! Gabriel Ansley Erb wrote the book "2028 END" in order to fully elucidate God's game clock scenario for The Game of Life as contained in the game's handbook, the Holy Bible. The handbook says, "God declared the end from the beginning" (Isaiah 46:10) by using 7 days in the creation event. Each 24 hour creation day foretold of a future 1,000 year period for a total 7,000 year plan God had for The Game of Life to be played on planet earth. And amazingly, to confirm this is all true, God hid a secret prophesy in each creation day foretelling the greatest event He had planned to occur in that day's future millennium!Consequently, Creation day 1 foretold Adam & Eve's fall, which was fulfilled during earth's 1st millennium. Creation day 2 foretold Noah's global flood, which was fulfilled during earth's 2nd millennium. Creation day 3 foretold Moses' Red Sea parting, which was fulfilled during earth's 3rd millennium. Creation day 4 foretold of John the Baptist & Jesus Christ, and so they lived and died during earth's 4th millennium. And the prophecies continue with each Creation day!Gabriel proves all of the above, carefully revealing the prophetic Scriptures as well as the fulfillment Scriptures. Then he reveals a dozen Scriptures proving Christ died earth's 4,000 year and will return earth's 6,000 year. Finally, he proves Christ died Feast of Passover AD 28 and will return Feast of Trumpets 2028. For those who read this book, it is an open and shut case: The Game of Life will end 2,000 years from the year of Christ's death on the cross - AD 2028.

Book excerpt: Increasingly, many Christians and spiritual seekers feel they are in a sort of wilderness space where the familiar, settled, and normal parts of life have become unsettled, out of balance. More and more people are evaluating their lives and asking, Where to now? In Life Unsettled, Cory Driver uses the metaphor of wilderness journeying (a hallmark of the life of faith across the millennia) and the study of biblical texts, ancient Jewish legends, modern theological insights, and his own personal journeys to provide a guide for moving forward when we feel lost and confused. The biblical book of Numbers takes center stage in the author's creative musings about life in the wilderness. The Hebrew title of Numbers is Bemidbar, which means In the Wilderness. In this oft-overlooked book are stories of God's passionate intimacy and anger, communal formation and struggles, and personal failures and triumphs. The author shows how the wilderness journey in Numbers has a deep relevance for our time and for our personal journeys. The book includes a discussion guide ideal for group use.

What can we do to build our life in preparation for the beginning of our next moments in time? A Passport to God is a montage of one hundred ninety-one parables and fables, which gives hope and insight to all who question God’s presence. The series of stories portrays how life and living are two separate ideas. This book explains a life with or without God by our side. Quotes from the Old and New Testaments reinforce many of the stories and are great drop-off points for reflection or a gateway to the Bible.
