Book The Wedding Confessions of a Very Married Man

Download or read book The Wedding Confessions of a Very Married Man written by Clyde Shaw and published by Booktango. This book was released on 2013-03-05 with total page 122 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Marriage, love and sex are topics that garner a lot of attention from various writers, and rightly so, as these topics are juicy enough to satisfy any appetite for a good read. Weddings, invariably a tangible manifestation of Marriage, Love and Sex, are just as interesting. These events are a beast in and unto themselves and can provide enough drama to fill all the national libraries of the world. So although this book does touch on issues pertaining to sex, love and marriage, they are all tied to the wedding context. Therefore, the issues that happen before the wedding, during the wedding and unusual tips on how to preserve relationships are all dovetailed to produce these wedding confessions. This book will instigate discussions and arguments in book clubs, amongst the girls and amongst the guys, but don't take it too seriously; unless of course you want to.The writer speaks directly to the women, but, it's a book applicable to both genders especially if navigating a relationship or getting married and provides a bit of empowerment. It is a candid, funny, irreverent but very honest look at the wedding process and some of the situations that affect and influence this supposedly wonderful affair. If you're already married some of these stories will look ridiculously familiar while if you're about to get married, you'll pray that it's a complete work of outlandishly contrived fiction.

Book Confessions of a Happily Married Man

Download or read book Confessions of a Happily Married Man written by Joshua L. Rogers and published by Worthy Books. This book was released on 2019-12-17 with total page 157 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Discover God in the messiness of your marriage, as popular marriage and family columnist Joshua Rogers offers spouses hope with real-life stories from his own marriage and helps you see how God is at work in the ordinary and extraordinary of your relationship. Confessions of a Happily Married Man is a husband's painfully honest account of his first ten years of marriage. It offers a window into the perspective of a man who went from "hello" to "I do" in nine months and then figured out how hard marriage could be. When Joshua Rogers thought back on the marriage books he had read or sermons about marriage he had heard, it occurred to him that he could only remember one thing about them: the stories. That's why this book is anchored by stories that other couples will relate to and can easily learn from. The stories are cringe-worthy, humorous, inspiring, heart-breaking, and full of wisdom--but the author isn't telling the reader what to do with that wisdom. He's letting the reader learn along with him as he's gradually becoming more self-aware, increasingly grateful for his wife, and surprised to discover what God is doing in the middle of it all.

Book Cheatingland

Download or read book Cheatingland written by Anonymous and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2022-03-22 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reminiscent of Three Women and The State of Affairs—and based on years of research and in-depth interviews with more than sixty men—this eye-opening and explosive study explores why men cheat, how they do it, and the repercussions that infidelity has on every aspect of life. It is estimated that one in four married men cheat on their wives. Of those, roughly half claim that they are “very happy” in their marriages. So why risk ruining it all? Is it the sex? The affirmation? The danger? Yes, it’s all of that. But it’s also so much more. The author of this book has conducted a series of in-depth interviews with men and women of all ages and backgrounds who have cheated in the past or are currently cheating on their spouses. They talked openly and intimately about details of their affairs, and the emotions that they experience before, during, and after. The book breaks down the five major categories of cheaters, defines the typical cheater personality, and looks at how husbands can cheat while also loving their wives. It reveals the tips and tricks spouses use to get away with secret affairs and examines everything from the influence of cheating parents on their children to the possible outcomes once an affair is discovered. This unfiltered window into the hearts and minds of men explores the psychological roots of cheating and proposes a new vision of masculinity that is more emotionally aware and could significantly change relationships for the better.

Book excerpt: NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • A powerful memoir of a love that leads two people to find a courageous way to part—and a woman’s struggle to go forward in the face of loss—that “enriches the reader’s life with urgency and gratitude” (The Washington Post) “A pleasure to read . . . Rarely has a memoir about death been so full of life. . . . Bloom has a talent for mixing the prosaic and profound, the slapstick and the serious.”—USA Today ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR: NPR Amy Bloom began to notice changes in her husband, Brian: He retired early from a new job he loved; he withdrew from close friendships; he talked mostly about the past. Suddenly, it seemed there was a glass wall between them, and their long walks and talks stopped. Their world was altered forever when an MRI confirmed what they could no longer ignore: Brian had Alzheimer’s disease. Forced to confront the truth of the diagnosis and its impact on the future he had envisioned, Brian was determined to die on his feet, not live on his knees. Supporting each other in their last journey together, Brian and Amy made the unimaginably difficult and painful decision to go to Dignitas, an organization based in Switzerland that empowers a person to end their own life with dignity and peace. In this heartbreaking and surprising memoir, Bloom sheds light on a part of life we so often shy away from discussing—its ending. Written in Bloom’s captivating, insightful voice and with her trademark wit and candor, In Love is an unforgettable portrait of a beautiful marriage, and a boundary-defying love.

Book The Psychology of False Confessions

Download or read book The Psychology of False Confessions written by Gisli H. Gudjonsson and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2018-07-23 with total page 552 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Provides a comprehensive and up-to-date review of the development of the science behind the psychology of false confessions Four decades ago, little was known or understood about false confessions and the reasons behind them. So much has changed since then due in part to the diligent work done by Gisli H. Gudjonsson. This eye-opening book by the Icelandic/British clinical forensic psychologist, who in the mid 1970s had worked as detective in Reykjavik, offers a complete and current analysis of how the study of the psychology of false confessions came about, including the relevant theories and empirical/experimental evidence base. It also provides a reflective review of the gradual development of the science and how it can be applied to real life cases. Based on Gudjonsson’s personal account of the biggest murder investigations in Iceland’s history, as well as other landmark cases, The Psychology of False Confessions: Forty Years of Science and Practice takes readers inside the minds of those who sit on both sides of the interrogation table to examine why confessions to crimes occur even when the confessor is innocent. Presented in three parts, the book covers how the science of studying false confessions emerged and grew to become a regular field of practice. It then goes deep into the investigation of the mid-1970s assumed murders of two men in Iceland and the people held responsible for them. It finishes with an in-depth psychological analysis of the confessions of the six people convicted. Written by an expert extensively involved in the development of the science and its application to real life cases Covers the most sensational murder cases in Iceland’s history Deep analysis of the ‘Reykjavik Confessions’ adds crucial evidence to understanding how and why coerced-internalized false confessions occur, and their detrimental and lasting effects on memory The Psychology of False Confessions: Forty Years of Science and Practice is an important source book for students, academics, criminologists, and clinical, forensic, and social psychologists and psychiatrists.

Book A Cultural History of Marriage in the Renaissance and Early Modern Age

Download or read book A Cultural History of Marriage in the Renaissance and Early Modern Age written by Joanne M. Ferraro and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2021-11-18 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why marry? The personal question is timeless. Yet the highly emotional desires of men and women during the period between 1450 and 1650 were also circumscribed by external forces that operated within a complex arena of sweeping economic, demographic, political, and religious changes. The period witnessed dramatic religious reforms in the Catholic confession and the introduction of multiple Protestant denominations; the advent of the printing press; European encounters and exchange with the Americas, North Africa, and southwestern and eastern Asia; the growth of state bureaucracies; and a resurgence of ecclesiastical authority in private life. These developments, together with social, religious, and cultural attitudes, including the constructed norms of masculinity, femininity, and sexuality, impinged upon the possibility of marrying. The nine scholars in this volume aim to provide a comprehensive picture of current research on the cultural history of marriage for the years between 1450 and 1650 by identifying both the ideal templates for nuptial unions in prescriptive writings and artistic representation and actual practices in the spheres of courtship and marriage rites, sexual relationships, the formation of family networks, marital dissolution, and the overriding choices of individuals over the structural and cultural constraints of the time. A Cultural History of Marriage in the Renaissance and Early Modern Age presents an overview of the period with essays on Courtship and Ritual; Religion, State and Law; Kinship and Social Networks; the Family Economy; Love and Sex; the Breaking of Vows; and Representations of Marriage.

Book Dear Brothers and Sisters

Download or read book Dear Brothers and Sisters written by Elder George and published by Book Hub Inc. This book was released on 2013-05-02 with total page 237 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Author Elder George, in his work Dear Brothers and Sisters: Gender and Its Responsibility, explains the universal principle of gender and describes how the imbalance of gender, specifically the suppression of the masculine influence, in Western society has adversely affected the lives of every man, woman, and child. He shows that our burgeoning prison population, increased membership in street gangs, and decline in standards of all sorts are gender-related. He explains that family is a necessary institution for the proper nurturing and protection of the human race, and that gender differences supplement each other in the collective effort of propagating and preserving the species as it grows spiritually. Elder’s work is written for the concerned men and women who realize that brothers and sisters working together can establish a spiritually-based and gender-oriented society that will ensure relative stability and security while fostering future development.
