Book The Way for Mankind Book Two

Download or read book The Way for Mankind Book Two written by jean-marie Paglia and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2011-10-26 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is an analysis of our world's present condition seen from a spiritual vantage point. This holistic view exposes the major problems we face: arms budgets, twisted democracy, nuclear energy, overpopulation, giant cities, etc. and allows us to consider what the solutions might be. We cannot do this without the coherent and unified vision of the world that can be found in the tradition of Tao. This ageless wisdom offers a profound and little-known understanding of the origin and structure of the world. It gives us the means to understand what we are, what our destiny might be and how we might best live. Among the leads to follow to get us out of the mess we have created is the realization that our way of thinking is flawed when we restrict ourselves to rational thought at the expense of the mystical intimations necessary to save us and for us to be truly ourselves.

Book excerpt: It takes more than 10 billion years to create just the right conditions on one planet for life to begin. It takes another three billion years of evolving life forms until it finally happens, a primate super species emerges: mankind. In conjunction with History Channel's hit television series by the same name, Mankind is a sweeping history of humans from the birth of the Earth and hunting antelope in Africa's Rift Valley to the present day with the completion of the Genome project and the birth of the seven billionth human. Like a Hollywood action movie, Mankind is a fast-moving, adventurous history of key events from each major historical epoch that directly affect us today such as the invention of iron, the beginning of Buddhism, the crucifixion of Jesus, the fall of Rome, the invention of the printing press, the Industrial Revolution, and the invention of the computer. With more than 300 color photographs and maps, Mankind is not only a visual overview of the broad story of civilization, but it also includes illustrated pop-out sidebars explaining distinctions between science and history, such as why there is 700 times more iron than bronze buried in the earth, why pepper is the only food we can taste with our skin, and how a wobble in the earth's axis helped bring down the Egyptian Empire. This is the most exciting and entertaining history of mankind ever produced.

Book The Allies of Humanity Book Two

Download or read book The Allies of Humanity Book Two written by Marshall Vian Summers and published by New Knowledge Library. This book was released on 2013-09-28 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This second set of Briefings from The Allies of Humanity completes a crucial message regarding our vulnerability and potential within the Greater Community, the larger physical universe in which we live. Communicated by a small group of extraterrestrial observers, the Briefings reveal the true nature and purpose of an extraterrestrial Intervention that has been underway in our world for quite some time. This group of observers represents the Allies of Humanity, an association of free races in the universe who support the preservation of Knowledge and freedom throughout the Greater Community. The Allies distinguish themselves from the intervening forces that are here by maintaining their distance and not engaging directly with us. Instead, they offer us their wisdom about the realities of life in the universe and a warning about the dangers and consequences of premature human /ET contact. The arrival of The Allies Briefings was the result of a rare convergence of three powerful forces: the extraterrestrial, the Divine and the human. It was these essential forces that joined to enable The Allies Briefings to be delivered in a form and in a language that can be understood by everyday people. In this one book, each of these voices is represented: the extraterrestrial in the Allies Briefings, the Divine in the Teachers’ Commentaries and the human in the Message from Marshall Vian Summers. It was in December 2000 that Marshall received the entire six briefings of The Allies of Humanity Book Two: Human Unity, Freedon and the Hidden Reality of Contact within 24 hours. The Briefings were delivered very quickly for a reason. The Allies, threatened with being discovered by the Intervention, had to give their second set of Briefings to Marshall as quickly as possible before escaping to a distant location far from our Solar System. The Allies describe this situation in their Preface to the Second Set of Briefings, which is included in this volume. Since that time, Marshall, along with the support of a growing number of courageous people, has endeavored to study and to bring The Allies of Humanity Briefings and message to the attention of as many people as possible. This ongoing work represents a vital mission and relies upon the contributions of readers everywhere in order to continue. Whether or not any further Briefings will be sent here by the Allies is as yet uncertain. But what is certain is that the information contained in these two sets of Briefings provides the missing pieces to our understanding of the extraterrestrial presence in the world today and what we must do to begin to prepare. The Allies emphasize that these Briefings provide us everything that we need to know to begin this preparation with a clear understanding of our situation. We cannot afford to make the same mistakes that so many native peoples have made throughout the course of our own human history regarding their first encounters with explorers from the outside. We at New Knowledge Library are proud to be able to present what may prove to be one of the most important documents ever published for the advancement, well-being and future of humanity. We recognize that some people may reject this information out of hand because of its possible association with “channeled” ET messages. However, given the high degree of his personal integrity and the extraordinary quality and relevance of his writings, Marshall’s work stands apart. Truly, the revelations that have come to us through his work may ultimately prove to be as significant as other Divinely-inspired messages in the past that have impacted the course of human history. We encourage you the reader to seriously explore the crucial message presented in all of these Briefings, in both Book One and Book Two, and to share this message with others. These Briefings represent a unique and greatly needed communication to all the people of our world at this critical turning point. New Knowledge Library

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How David Hume and Adam Smith forged a new way of thinking about the modern state What is the modern state? Conspicuously undertheorized in recent political theory, this question persistently animated the best minds of the Enlightenment. Recovering David Hume and Adam Smith's long-underappreciated contributions to the history of political thought, The Opinion of Mankind considers how, following Thomas Hobbes's epochal intervention in the mid-seventeenth century, subsequent thinkers grappled with explaining how the state came into being, what it fundamentally might be, and how it could claim rightful authority over those subject to its power. Hobbes has cast a long shadow over Western political thought, particularly regarding the theory of the state. This book shows how Hume and Smith, the two leading lights of the Scottish Enlightenment, forged an alternative way of thinking about the organization of modern politics. They did this in part by going back to the foundations: rejecting Hobbes's vision of human nature and his arguments about our capacity to form stable societies over time. In turn, this was harnessed to a deep reconceptualization of how to think philosophically about politics in a secular world. The result was an emphasis on the "opinion of mankind," the necessary psychological basis of all political organization. Demonstrating how Hume and Smith broke away from Hobbesian state theory, The Opinion of Mankind also suggests ways in which these thinkers might shape how we think about politics today, and in turn how we might construct better political theory.

Join the Random House Reader’s Circle for author chats and more. In boyhood, Louis Zamperini was an incorrigible delinquent. As a teenager, he channeled his defiance into running, discovering a prodigious talent that had carried him to the Berlin Olympics. But when World War II began, the athlete became an airman, embarking on a journey that led to a doomed flight on a May afternoon in 1943. When his Army Air Forces bomber crashed into the Pacific Ocean, against all odds, Zamperini survived, adrift on a foundering life raft. Ahead of Zamperini lay thousands of miles of open ocean, leaping sharks, thirst and starvation, enemy aircraft, and, beyond, a trial even greater. Driven to the limits of endurance, Zamperini would answer desperation with ingenuity; suffering with hope, resolve, and humor; brutality with rebellion. His fate, whether triumph or tragedy, would be suspended on the fraying wire of his will. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Joseph B. Soloveitchik, the rabbi known as “The Rav” by his followers worldwide, was a leading authority on the meaning of Jewish law and prominent force in building bridges between traditional Orthodox Judaism and the modern world. In THE LONELY MAN OF FAITH, a soaring, eloquent essay first published in Tradition magazine in 1965, Soloveitchik investigates the essential loneliness of the person of faith in our narcissistic, materially oriented, utilitarian society. In this modern classic, Soloveitchik uses the story of Adam and Eve as a springboard, interweaving insights from such important Western philosophers as Kierkegaard and Kant with innovative readings of Genesis to provide guidance for the faithful in today’s world. He explains prayer as “the harbinger of moral reformation,” and discusses with empathy and understanding the despair and exasperation of individuals who seek personal redemption through direct knowledge of a God who seems remote and unapproachable. He shows that while the faithful may become members of a religious community, their true home is “the abode of loneliness.” In a moving personal testimony, Soloveitchik demonstrates a deep-seated commitment, intellectual courage, and integrity that people of all religions will respond to.
